I HATE when people shit on the original animation and say that the animation in the specials look better when it really doesn't. Plus the first 3 seasons looked SO MUCH better in the early 2000s than it does in the special and later seasons in the 2010s.
To be fair. The voice acting in cimalune wasn’t the best. Some voices were great. But some were just really bad. I feel like Nickelodeon did a good job with the voice acting. But I’m biased because it’s the one I grew up with. And I honestly love the specials. Even if they did cut a lot of stuff out.
In my opinion the puppet animation in winx is not the worst translation I've seen from traditional animation. That would go to the later seasons of Arthur. That makes the winx puppet animation look like miyazaki in comparison.
@darkbloom6276 Oi! As an American with Autism who spent his childhood watching only Game shows like Press your Luck, Pyramid, Wheel & France's Anime Code Lyokô* (*sometimes), and as a former subscriber of yours, I haven't even heard Of Winx club til the October of 2011 & I see the 16th of that month as a special Day for me. You don't have to be THAT nasty about 2011 Dark Bloom.
@@MelonTartVA some not-OG fans still call the basic transformation (magic winx) "charmix" and it angers me so much, and they will argue that its the correct name smh
Basically, Aisha is the Jasmine of Winx Club, but even better, they have many similarities, locked in a palace their whole lives, isolated, desperate for meaningful connections, both are pretty badass, and they're both rebellious Princesses, not to mention they're both beautiful, and capable! Her and Stella are my favorite Winx members!
I wouldn’t call Jasmine capable per say, but Leila is so underrated imo. She’s my favorite aside Musa, and I don’t like her more aggressive personality she got in the later seasons.
Like, her original introduction was 10x better cause it was her kinda being amazed that "Varanda" (Bloom) was apparently from Calisto and she slightly nerded out
Removing princess Amentia and the whole downland arc is criminal! Season 2 is my favorite season and that subplot was the best Stella and Brandon story ever
S2 is my fav too, I really like the plot, people like s3 because of enchantix and shit on charmix for being too simple, but i love it. It was nice to have something in the middle between basic transformation and final form
LITERALLY cuz we were all rooting for them so hard after season 1 especially cuz they'd drifted apart after stella found out that brandon wasn't an actual prince. And in the whole underworld arc brandon redeemed himself and proved he truly loved stella and would never let anyone else take her place, its just :']]]]]
I mean, Season 2 was done dirty so badly. A lot of Musa’s story arc is in this season aside four because of her close friendship with Leila. It’s criminal how Nick basically shoved Tecna, Musa and somewhat Flora to the sidelines for Stella, Bloom and Leila to take center stage
Imagine if Nickelodeon really did include Aisha in their Winx specials from the beginning. She must've had a roommate, and who it could've been. The fight scenes would've been rechoreographed to make Aisha contribute something. Added dialogue and basically making her the most proactive protagonist. These requires a lot of work, I realized typing this down. I see why Nick just did the lazy route instead.
If Aisha was in the specials from the start, they could have had her start off with her original roommate, Francis and then pulled a season 4 midway through where she now was with Stella...and that remains the case today...and that causes chaos.
and 4kids really didn't edit this as badly as they edited everything else on their block aside from the unedited Shaman King. Sure some plot points were shuffled, but at least we got something enjoyable out of it.
'Is that the best you got witchypoo.' ... 😶😶😶 Okay i know 4Kids made mistakes when they had the show, but we can all agree that they nailed the trash talking in battle. Even 4Kids Bloom could never salvage a line as bad as 'that the best you got witchypoo.' It sounds like something a 6 year old on the playground would come up with.
@@greenstarlover1 Same. Like i had to replay so many times to be sure i'd heard it correctly. Again i know they weren't perfect but the way 4Kids wrote Bloom and the way her actress voiced her absolutely dragged Icy for filth, Bloom in these specials just feels so juvenile in terms of dialogue. Like i'm not a fan of the cinelume dub (i just never clicked with the new voices) but even that dub did better than 'is that the best you got witchypoo.' 🤣🤣🤣 Like i know writing is hard, especially dialogue, but there had to be a better line than that surely.
Same. I don’t get why everyone hates on the 4Kids dub, especially when its the one that got a lot of English speaking fans into the series. Yeah it definitely made a bunch of stupid and unnecessary changes and the studio itself was notorious for absolutely destroying various anime, but I still think Winx Club was one of the better dubs. Like, people who say Nick had the best voices forget how cringe the dialogue was in so many episodes to make it “‘more kid friendly” I still find it hilarious 4Kids actually did sneak in some adult jokes like the Trix calling each other b*tches and Stormy even calls the Specialists boytoys in an episode
The dialogue and line deliverance is what made 4kids😭 I can’t even watch the original English version because it doesn’t have the 4kids insults or slang lol
@@laedollchickHey i’ve gotta question, by any chance do you know who the singer is from the S1 intro for the 4kids dub? I’m doing a multilanguage and I can’t find the singer’s name!
I am so glad you made this video. I had nothing but burning hatred for the Winx Club TV Specials because of how Nickelodeon cut a LOT of important storylines from the two seasons. What was the point of creating those two TV Specials instead of re-dubbing the first two seasons, which makes me sad since i love the voice acting in the Nick Dub. Season 2 got the worst treatment since it cut a lot of interesting storylines such as Hallowinx, Aisha's backstory and Musa's emotional conflict with her father 'cause that's one of my favorite episodes, and I was so confused that it was not added in the Nick version.
@@CodyJacobs16although I may prefer Harmonix more i do like some aspects of Sirenix. Like the cursed angle and some of the spells like Aisha’s Naiad’s attack and especially the song.
FINALLY someone who talks about how bad the nick specials are.... what I hated the most is how they did not sumarize the second season, but they completely changed it
Am I the only one who didn’t like her season 1 outfit? It always looked like she was wearing pajamas to me. Sorry. Maybe I just am picky about clothes.
I actually miss it. It made her look like an ordinary girl just discovering her powers, figuring out the problems, acting like a teenager, and being herself. Also, the outfit gives me the early 2000s (the crop shirt top, flared jeans with stars at the bottom of each side, and her wedge heels), which I luv and feel.
i really feel like people just say these specials are better animated just bcs they stay on model most of the times (well these are puppet animations so it would be wierd if they didn't) but like these look lifeless, everyone moves the same, they have no real facial expressions, transformations are boring and are all the same if you ignore the color of the background and sparkle effect.png
The worst thing about this truely was, that once these specials were released Nickelodeon even in countrys where they always had the rights to air winx on their channel, most of the time just skipped through season 1 and 2 with these specials for reruns, making for like a few years the only way to watch season 1 and 2 with DVD, since they ignored there existence
Specials 1 and 3 were flash/puppet animated while specials 2 and 4 were actually hand-drawn. Though you can tell that the hand-drawn ones were rushed, especially 4, which doesn't hold a candle to the corresponding season 2 scenes when you compare them. ❤
i only like the specials as a way to rewatch season 1, i like to get through it quickly cause it feels so weird to not have aisha ALSO WTF DID THEY DO TO STELL’S SCEPTER?????
All of the specials fail in their own way, and what I’m about to mention is just one of many problems ofc, but one thing I personally can’t stand as a Flora girlie and a Florelia stan is how the 4th special handled Flora and Helia’s relationship, especially when you take into account the continuity of season 3. Since the 4th special very clearly shows them having a crush on each other, but never actually shows Flora confessing (and by extension completely erasing Flora’s character arc of overcoming her fears and insecurities)…are we just supposed to assume that the two of them got together off-screen soon after they met. Cause its not like Nick omitted their relationship in season 3. Its very clear that, just like every version of season 3, in Nick’s version, Flora and Helia are very clearly in a relationship by S3, so when exactly did they officially get together in the nickelodeon timeline?😭
First of all, I think I am one of the few Italians to follow you constantly 😂 Suffering is also shared for us. The only thing that is saved, and will be saved, is our dubbing, which is always excellent and iconic 🙏🏻✨ A short sad story: a Winx-themed musical was recently supposed to take place in Casavatore, but it was cancelled because the truck where the costumes, musical and stage equipment and other objects were all stolen.
Your take of just including Aisha since the very beginning in the Specials is actually really good, like season 2 doesn't have much plot that is ultimately too important for the general plot of later seasons and they could've at least had the 45 minutes remaining run time to at least include a portion of all the character moments.
This is the Winx Club I grew up with and I still associate the characters with these voices. These videos helped me understand what was going on behind the scenes and what happens after season 5 because I fell off it because I moved to another continent and they didn’t have Nick.💀
Honestly, I can kinda see why they cut Tecna trying to be emotional from the Seaon 2 special I mean, what introvert leads with something as powerful as: "Walking backwards is irational, I'm Tecna."
What is awful about season 2, they got rid of Aisha character arc. To be clear: Who is Layla (Cinelum) ? Layla is a princess of Andros, who overcame her inner demons and she's really good friend. Who is Aisha (Nick)? Aisha... is just Aisha. Also she's the princess of Andros (maybe, If she even told it in 4th special)
@@FeligamiAdrizoeSworaDooplivian well Layla's a backup for when localizations in certain countries don't allow Aisha....particularly in the middle east. Or else she gets a name meaning "Water Fairy"
Until I got addicted to your channel, I had NO IDEA they had done this lol. That's probably because I'm not from an English-speaking country, but I also discovered that the specials were also dubbed in my language, and I'm so confused because I know I have never watched them
The story for it is great. But some of the voices? Some were really not fitting. Especially Musa. Seriously! Why did she sound like a 89 year old women?!
Sad that this was actually a lot of people 1st introduction inti the show so much is skipped out that is brought up in season 3 luckily we have TH-cam so fans can go enjoy the show the correct way
i feel like the experience turned out to be the same or at least similar, i grew up with the specials and i legit thought Season 3 was Season 1 as a kid. The only things I missed out on were the Brandon and Sky switch and the character development that happened with season 2 but I feel like i can attest to the fact that the feelings of tuning in every day to see which winx would earn their enchantix was universal regardless of the dub.
That’s a little self entitled. There’s no correct way. Everyone experiences shows differently. And we should respect that. Not discriminate them. Some grew up with Nickelodeon, some grew up with 4kids, and some grew up with cimalune. Nothing wrong with that.
@@FeligamiAdrizoeSworaDooplivian Not discriminating the reason the special exists because Nick was lazy and wanted to rush out the story quickly before the season 5 premiere but the correct way to watch the show is to watch seasons 1-3 you miss out on so many great character moments and development for the other winx the specials is literally just “Bloom Club”
@@JalenMai Yes I’m glad nick brought a bunch of new fans to the show but you guys deserved so much better between the strange airing schedule very few reruns and random hiatuses I surprised kids were able to keep up
*at the beginning* i-is that stella's scepter? *by **4:00* get that scepter out of my face! O.O what is that?! And they did change Bloom's outfit....where's season 1's outfit? ;~; i'm glad I was busy moving into my college dorms during the release of these things..... By the time I got settled in, figured out how to use my first laptop and had access to TV again, this was over and the new season was out. I didn't realize the network liked screwing things over until LoK
Nickelodeon is still falling apart as we speak. And as a editor, i could put the time on making a restored version that includes the Nickelodeon voices.
Season 2 has been my favorite since childhood, so imagine little me's utter disappointment when i found out they were summing up all those episodes into ONE special. Because uh. No sapphic Musa x Layla shenanigans or Red Fountain concert?? This baby bi was not having it.
One thing I really love about winx specials. That's what they made Darkar a fake Avalon. This made Darkar a much more interesting calculating villain. Not just ":THEeViL LAUgh dude" and fix the plot hole with Avalon 's complete disappearance after he delivered Bloom . I want this to become a canon for the original series
Even from the point of view of the plot, it can be interesting to beat. Like that Bloom's certain infatuation with Avalon is explained by the fact that the essence of the Dragon inside her was drawn to the essence of the Phoenix inside Darkar, which she unknowingly felt
It did introduce a new plothole though. The real Avalon didn't exist in the Specials but he does appear in season 3 among with the other teachers (not with any dialogue but still).
@@WILFORDCLUXYeah and Darkar's entire ordeal is that he lives in the shadows. He literally commands the trix like 8x in the season saying they must NOT show themselves at Alfea and most of the time the trix stay undercover. Darkar NEVER leaves his citadel because his powers essentially contradict it. He is the SHADOW phoenix. Coming into sunlight does not make sense for his character. Darkar always sends allies or creatures to do his bidding, because staying in the Shadows is his power, origin and is what makes him stronger. Becoming Avalon does not make sense as he makes it VERY clear he and the Trix must not call attention to themselves and stay low. Darkar walking around in Alfea would completely contradict that and by extension break most of the season.
The winx learning how to converge their powers was my favorite part of season 2. Episode 12 specifically is probably my favorite... seeing that they removed every scene of them in their classes learning new spells or training destroys my soul
I was already 16 when this came out and thus I don't really have childhood nostalgia related to it, I remember being quite upset about the butchering of the first seasons. Great video! I never noticed the great soundtrack so thanks for pointing it out!
@@pandaworld8166Yeah but changing the artstyle this much probably took a lot of time as well. They could have easily dubbed the first four seasons in less then a year judging by the time it took them to dub just season 3.
I remember reading somewhere that they felt the season 1-2 animation looked too old as it was produced in the early 2000s and nick really wanted to make the animation more modern + it seems they felt their seasons 1-2 outfits were too out of fashion at the time the specials came out.
I remember the specials being advetised and watching it in secret. Family was very "traditional" Ig ie fairies are for girls what are you queer? Little did I know at the time i was lol. Was so excited for Aisha bc she was new. I'm happy that the cinelune dub was on Netflix in the mid 2010s so I could watch season 1 and 2 without the huge amount of cuts they made in the specials.
6:45 You know how 4kids' Version of Winx's 17th Episode had Bloom (and the other winx) punished for sneaking into red fountain? Well Nick could've have done the same! If there version of episode 2 had musa introduce herself, why not do the same as 4kids?
Only positive for me was the updated animation. Given I grew up with the original versions, I honestly have never watched the specials. I knew of them but ignored them because I didn’t feel the need to watch them and I’m so glad I did.
i like the original 4 seasons way better than the specials, but i do like to put on the specials in the background while i do work from time to time. i also like to watch these specials + the nick dubs of seasons 3 and 4 if i’m binging the show as a whole, because having the same cast makes them feel more like the same characters in the same journey.
I was actually okay with season 1 being divided into the three specials like obviously I'd prefer the full season but I thought the three specials were okay doing season 2 in 1:45 minutes special I have always thought was a bad idea though the guy that got to voice Lord darkar that was awesome he did a great job
Also you would think redubbing the first two seasons means a quicker and easier way for Nickelodeon to make money. The show would last longer on their network and if demands are popular enough, then they make new seasons
So is there any way the Specials could've worked better? Should they have thought of a more natural retelling of the story rather than rushing through a selection of unaltered scenes? Any ideas? 🤔
Well, for starters, they probably should have given themselves more time. Maybe if the specials had been 2 hours each, they could have fit in more of the character moments. The season 2 one definitely needed more than one installment, for sure.
I can understand if the Nickelodeon isn’t for everyone, but one thing is for sure is that I personally grew up with this dub- it was my gateway to Winx Club and even as an adult who can see the discrepancies brought on by Seasons 5-8, it will still be my favorite dub. The cast in that dub is just too nostalgic and perfect for me that I can’t imagine watching Winx in any other dub than that one.
holy crap this explains SO MUCH for me! i didn't watch winx on TV, i watched uploads of episodes and the movies on youtube. one time, i came across what must have been the first and second specials, and i was SO CONFUSED and I also hated it lol. why is stella just bringing bloom to alfea like "yes she is a princess actually" ?? i didn't care enough to watch any of the other specials because i had already seen the first two seasons in full. i didn't know anything about the network transfer because i was a kid, so it just seemed random and weird. anyways thanks for answering some decade-old questions i forgot i had haha
I became a fan of winx club as season 4 released (so the specials were already up) so i was beyond confused trying to play catch up 😭 THANK YOU for mentioning the transformation animation. I didnt care too much when i first started watching but as i grew older i LOVE how unique all their magic winx forms were (its become my personal favorite) and I hate that Nick (which was SUPPOSED to be better) essentially took that all away (im OBSESSED with Stella's og transformation and how she turns to get her hair into the pigtails before her final positions. I will never forgive them for taking that away 😭)
I was waiting for Thomas to talk about the Charmix and Magic Winx. Like how dare Nick remove Magic Winx, and make Charmix into their first transformation instead if a booster that comes with thuer own Charm and bag.
One of the biggest issues of these specials are that they tried to make Bloom the "main, perfect character whose friends are just there". The writers at Nickelodeon didn't wanted to understand why they work together and why everybody loved the original show. From season 5 until today they tried to make Bloom the "foundation" of the show, a person, who can be a role model for little girls, taken away her personality and her little quirks that made her unique, but not just hers, but everyone's as well, turning them into "shadows of their former self". The specials could have been so much more, not just rehash of the first two seasons, but a great chance to introduce each and every girl, their worlds and their interests and their role in the group, that changed their life for better.
Young me seeing that Winx Club was coming to Nick: "Awesome!! I can rewatch Winx Club again!!" 😆 Young me after I watched the Winx Club specials on Nick: "What the hell was that?!" 😑
While I have grown up with the nick version, I didn't even know that there were more episodes to winx until I saw the RAI dub. As most as I love the nick dub with its pros and cons, it did condense a lot of crucial things.
ACTUALLY- Heart of Fire recently got an official release. It's extremely short, but it's available on TH-cam and is without all the sound effects in the way.
@@candy_ribbons The difference is Disney+ and Nick distributed ML while Nick helped produce seasons 5-7 (and consulted on season 8). I doubt Disney Channel would've thrown WC to Disney Junior, and given the animated shows they were airing at the time, I doubt they would've made seasons 5 onwards so vapid--though they might've tried to make it more similar to W.I.T.C.H. This is assuming they did this around the 2010s like Nickelodeon and wasn't the main distributer of the OG series.
@@OpticalSorcererI think winx could’ve found a good home on Disney XD (weird choice probably but I watched star vs the forces of evil all the time on there and that show was significantly girly while still kicking ass) maybe airing there after premiering first on Disney channel
@@OpticalSorcerer maybe not, but at least Disney Jr. actually had decent programming that was more in line with PBS Kids than Nick Jr. at the time. Actually better than Disney...PBS would have worked...and since PBS loves Canada...the Cinelumè dub wouldn't have ended and it could have remained getting more along the lines of the adaptation of Adventures from the Book of Virtues with a side of their other Book related programs, as that would be in-line with the friendship lessons from Winx. PBS would have also gone all out with the tie-in stuff for their education angles...just by having Arthur, George, Buster, Francine, Fern, Sue Ellen, Mr. Reed, Brain's cousin (the mother, because there's no way that any voice of Aisha will ever not be cast as a soccer mom in anything...she's too good at it!) from Sinikah and Mrs. Crosswire get together to work on some sort of surprise for Muffy and they imagine themselves as their Winx counterparts for a joke on the Cinelumè voice cast since 🎵"that's just the thing to doodlie-do-do!"🎵 PBS also would have found a way to actually put everyone in the club in a fun new way tied to their health/activity promotions as well. Bloom- art Stella- beach Flora- gardening Tecna- research in both book and tech because she's the Brain (not to be confused with her good friend Alan "Brain" Powers.) Musa- jam session Aisha- gym Roxy- pets Daphne- family relations
@@Superlad9494 I'm not an expert on PBS, but given their style of programming, Winx Club would probably have been seen as too dark for their audience (particularly the first 3 seasons), as well as lacking enough educational content since it was fantasy. Assuming PBS decides to extend the series (which I'd see as unlikely; they'd probably cut it loose, especially if their reputation takes a dive for having a show purely for entertainment), I'd imagine a lot of the fanbase would see it as ruined if they tried to steer it towards their own style. An educational WC show could work as a spinoff, but not necessarily a continuation of the main series.
I do find faragondas line in the beginning of season 1 so funny, even though her knowing about bloom is random and never explained the whole “she’s not on my list, headmistress!” “Well she’s on mine, griselda~” while walking away is pure chaotic faragonda energy and I love it
...wait why is Sky cheating trash? Yes he was engaged when he was dating Bloom but dosnt he make it WARY clear he has NO intrest in Diaspro and wasnt it a arranged marriage he had no say in?...ore did the german dub change that too make him more likable?
I hated The Shadow Phoenix TV Special with a burning passion. They removed a lot of my favorite moments from Season 2. I don't know why those TV specials were made in the first place.
I don’t understand why they couldn’t call the transformation magic winx. There was more than enough time to throw charmix in season 2. Since the plot was butchered, it could’ve been a Sailor Moon S thing where the fairy-pixie bond spawned the charmix power.
The saddest thing is that people who were introduced only to the specials, will argue with you that the correct name for the first transformation is charmix
Say what you want, the 4 specials are what got me into the franchise. I knew of the show on 4kids but never was interested in it. Then when it came to Nick, knowing that they were specials got me into it with no need to watch full seasons. I think it’s sad they didn’t dub the first two seasons but it worked to get people into the show. Plus this voice cast is still my favorite.
I grew up with the both the Nick and Rai dub. The Rai dub for season 1 and 2 and the Nick dub for season 3 amd 4. I wish Nick just voiced season 1 and 2 fully instead of making specials.
Idk if it was good for the show, because when nick took over, it went downhill. A lot of plot holes like Bloom never using her healing again, the mess with "what is the final form" and the messy plot with Daphne
The specials tho were planned out by Rainbow tho to quote on quote reintroduce fans to the series but in all reality they were just butchered down versions of the first two seasons leaving out any of the serious character development we got from those and from that point with S5 onwards it just got aged down and too chaotic
I used to love the Winx club whether if it’s animation is on Nickelodeon or 4kids tv. Even the songs when they transform are really smooth and heavy. To be honest I like the fact the storyline in the franchise different version shows that the characters especially the protagonist bloom can be used in situations that’s similar to the 4kids original in the first two seasons that can be more serious in a 4K style than how they were tone down in og 2D style, but It sucks the fact that Nick and rainbow didn’t do the same for the rest of the later seasons.
I love how despite how often we debate whether the Cinelume or 4Kids dub is better, we can all agree that nothing is as bad as the Nick dub. Also, I’ve been rewatching the first 3 seasons (I know, what else is new?) and I absolutely prefer the original animation over the HD versions. Maybe it’s the nostalgia influencing my preferences? Idk. It just feels like it has so much more charm!
If Musas mom being dead is skipped in S2, does that mean if you only watch Nick that Musas mom being dead is brought up for the first time in the crystal labyrinth?
Tbf season 3 and 4 may have better animation but also worse animation, compared to season 1. You can just tell they took more time with drawing the first season. Yes there are a lot of small errors, but overall it looks on point. Season 2 and season 3 start out great but in both the later half have some rough looking episodes especially season 3. Season 4 just looks weird in the beginning
I love the 4 kids version more than the Nick version because I grew up with the 4 kids version but I like the Nick version too. I don't like the flash animation but I like how pretty it was for the Nick version especially for the charmix transformation. I also love the music for the Nick version.
ok but imagine if season 3 got included in these nick specials? would've made all the winx get enchantix the same time doing a "friendship sacrifice" lol
I remember being so excited for Nick to get the rights to Winx, I grew up with the 4kids version and I watched every episode when it aired on Saturday mornings. I remember my sister and I recorded the first special on DVR so we could skip the commercials, and I remember us being so disappointed. It just feels so off, like it’s Winx by the appearance but it just doesn’t have the “soul” of the Winx I remembered. It’s crazy the disconnect from Rainbow and the long time fans who just want the show to be done justice. It has such a unique place in the magical girl genre, but I feel like the potential just gets trampled all over with every new season or iteration because they just don’t understand their demographic. Hell, even if it’s made for little kids, I think the 2004 Winx had mature themes and can be watched by adults with no issue aside from some corniness here and there. They treat kids like they’re stupid and only need flashy colors to watch a show and they tried to appease the older demographic with the live action that was barely Winx Club. I don’t even know how to feel about the reboot cause I just don’t trust Rainbow to do a good job I’m sorry. 😭
I was shocked at how they only gave one special to cover season 2, if they were gonna condense it in a special, the least they could have done is made 2 specialsnto cover it and not one. These specials do not do the storyline justice and if you want the full experience, just go back and watch the real seasons. I remember Nick would not stop advertising this show, they were literally airing a commercial for it every 5 minutes, it was exhausting!
One thing that annoyed me much was that while season 1 and 2 was on netflix, it was only for a short time for me, so only got to watch them once, instead of later on when you started going through the seasons.
I feel conflicted because I grew up on Nickelodeon Winx and I remember really liking Molly Quinn as Bloom. Her emotions comes out more when Bloom actually gets to be angry, like when Bloom regains her Dragon Flame and does that loud growly battle cry before she transforms.
I really enjoy watching your videos about Winx Club, since it keeps me in the Fandom as a whole and often gets me to rewatch the first 3-4 season (usually only up to 3)❤ As a matter of fact, I have taken a look into the different english dubs and I must admit, I much prefer my Main language German as a dub. Maybe it's nostalgia or maybe something else. Still. Thank you for making me rewatch this show on almost a monthly bases. 😂❤
Something that is honestly just now coming to me is that in the first episode Bloom essentially mentions that she has friends. But we never hear about anyone she knew outside of Mitzi until season 4 with Andy and then season 6 with Selina.
damn, I never knew any of that, now I'm glad I watched 1st 3 seasons straight from cd-s with all the episodes on and never saw winx on nickelodeon at all X''')
To give the special credit. At least they gave her the right fucking name! Aisha! Nickelodeon got it right! 4kids and Cimalune for some damn reason call her Layla! That’s not her name! In the original Italian dub of Winx club her name is Aisha. She will never be Layla to me! It’s Aisha!
I heard the reason why they changed her name to Layla in the RAI and 4kids dubs was because they wanted to keep it from sounding stereotypical and/or offensive as well as the storyline of her and Nabu's forced marriage. I honestly think she's better named Layla (Aisha is good too, just not as much) because I heard her being called that while watching seasons 2 and 3 and also because I think it sounds cuter to say :)
13:01 and thats exactly what nick did to all the characters when they took over, they were not multi-dimensional anymore, they were one-dimensional, only defined by their one specific hobby (and bloom became transparent and op at the same time), like Stella - fashion, techna - computers, Musa - becoming a star/singer (even tho Bloom sings in s4 and in promotionak stuff xD)
Ok so I’m actually someone who’s a big fan of Winx and I actually was introduced to it by the tv movies back in 2012 when I was 6 or 7 . Those tv movies were actually pretty good for me as a kid and I actually was introduced to the season 1&2 till 2013ish and was confused originally by how different both versions were mainly due to the animation and outfits. Also by the voices sometimes from the different dubs since to me the other dubs made them sound older or too cartoony I liked how Nick made them sound like the typical teenager in the 2010s Looking back from the og seasons I can understand why they redid season 1&2 due to the animation as a kid if this aired I probably wouldn’t had been as interested since even though the animation was decent compared to other shows at the time it probably would’ve been so different to stand and also at the time it was early 2010s and fashion then was so crazy and modern that it made sense why they choose they’re season 2/3 outfits since it was most marketable at the time plus ngl I feel like they sorta covered the necessities although they did left out some story lines that I wouldn’t had learn till a year or 2 later. But overall I liked living this era mainly due to how Winx was pretty much sorta getting a lot of attention in the US.I actually had most of the jakks dolls at the time and the advertising was so eye catching that I tuned in to every release of the specials. I liked the transformations and music plus the fashion from the specials were pretty eye catching for 7 year old me.when I saw season 3 and 4 it was kinda confusing due to the change in tone like the specials and first 2 movies and season 3&4 had such a good storyline but I felt kinda weird about season 5&6 mainly due to how childish the story had gotten and mainly confused about them still going to alfea. But overall I liked the dub and specials I just hated how Nick wrote the later on seasons since the first early episodes they released definitely had a more exciting and interesting tone I really hope it gets better for the reboot this year
I HATE when people shit on the original animation and say that the animation in the specials look better when it really doesn't.
I couldn’t agree more with anyone on this round blue planet I’m so sad they’re not continuing with it

Justice for Twink Paladium
Basically, Aisha is the Jasmine of Winx Club, but even better, they have many similarities, locked in a palace their whole lives, isolated, desperate for meaningful connections, both are pretty badass, and they're both rebellious Princesses, not to mention they're both beautiful, and capable! Her and Stella are my favorite Winx members!
And since both of them have middle-east/arabian theme design, I can see the connection here 🤔
Stella is basically the Cinderella of Winx with her blonde hair and with her wicked stepmum/step sister.
I wouldn’t call Jasmine capable per say, but Leila is so underrated imo. She’s my favorite aside Musa, and I don’t like her more aggressive personality she got in the later seasons.
And once again season 2 got ROBBED (seriously guys what the hell….)
I love Season 2! Nick did a disservice by condensing it.
It’s one of the best seasons too 😭
13:36 "walking backwards is irrational. I'm Tecna" WHAT?
Tecna.
And in the whole underworld arc brandon redeemed himself and proved he truly loved stella and would never let anyone else take her place, its just :']]]]]
season 4 is my fav season for some reason
I mean, Season 2 was done dirty so badly. A lot of Musa’s story arc is in this season aside four because of her close friendship with Leila. It’s criminal how Nick basically shoved Tecna, Musa and somewhat Flora to the sidelines for Stella, Bloom and Leila to take center stage
Can you imagine missing 5 minutes of the 4th special on cable TV and you immediately lose where the plot is going-
Imagine if Nickelodeon really did include Aisha in their Winx specials from the beginning.
I'm forever stumped at the "forever girlfriend" bit. This is the stuff they were trying to get away when they ditched 4kids.
and 4kids really didn't edit this as badly as they edited everything else on their block aside from the unedited Shaman King.
Sure some plot points were shuffled, but at least we got something enjoyable out of it.
'Is that the best you got witchypoo.' ... 😶😶😶
Okay i know 4Kids made mistakes when they had the show, but we can all agree that they nailed the trash talking in battle. Even 4Kids Bloom could never salvage a line as bad as 'that the best you got witchypoo.' It sounds like something a 6 year old on the playground would come up with.
I died inside from that line 💀
@@greenstarlover1 Same. Like i had to replay so many times to be sure i'd heard it correctly.
Again i know they weren't perfect but the way 4Kids wrote Bloom and the way her actress voiced her absolutely dragged Icy for filth, Bloom in these specials just feels so juvenile in terms of dialogue.
Like i'm not a fan of the cinelume dub (i just never clicked with the new voices) but even that dub did better than 'is that the best you got witchypoo.' 🤣🤣🤣
Like i know writing is hard, especially dialogue, but there had to be a better line than that surely.
Same here. I would've loved Nick to just dub season 1 and 2. It was my favorite dub growing up for seasons 3 and 4.

Something else weird about this. Bloom doesnt have her season 1 outfit when she should in the specials
Maybe it was too ugly and basic.
Mmmm no, no really
The worst thing about this truely was, that once these specials were released Nickelodeon even in countrys where they always had the rights to air winx on their channel, most of the time just skipped through season 1 and 2 with these specials for reruns, making for like a few years the only way to watch season 1 and 2 with DVD, since they ignored there existence
Luckily this doesn't happen anymore. Several dubs have come out after the Nick seasons, and they dub the first 2 seasons, they don't use the specials.
Specials 1 and 3 were flash/puppet animated while specials 2 and 4 were actually hand-drawn. Though you can tell that the hand-drawn ones were rushed, especially 4, which doesn't hold a candle to the corresponding season 2 scenes when you compare them. ❤
i only like the specials as a way to rewatch season 1, i like to get through it quickly cause it feels so weird to not have aisha
ALSO WTF DID THEY DO TO STELL’S SCEPTER?????
Idk

They through it into the Omega Dimension.

A short sad story: a Winx-themed musical was recently supposed to take place in Casavatore, but it was cancelled because the truck where the costumes, musical and stage equipment and other objects were all stolen.
Omg that is such a travesty about the musical 😓😓
Your take of just including Aisha since the very beginning in the Specials is actually really good, like season 2 doesn't have much plot that is ultimately too important for the general plot of later seasons and they could've at least had the 45 minutes remaining run time to at least include a portion of all the character moments.
This is the Winx Club I grew up with and I still associate the characters with these voices. These videos helped me understand what was going on behind the scenes and what happens after season 5 because I fell off it because I moved to another continent and they didn’t have Nick.💀
Honestly, I can kinda see why they cut Tecna trying to be emotional from the Seaon 2 special
I mean, what introvert leads with something as powerful as: "Walking backwards is irational, I'm Tecna."
What is awful about season 2, they got rid of Aisha character arc.
To be clear:
Who is Layla (Cinelum) ? Layla is a princess of Andros, who overcame her inner demons and she's really good friend.
Who is Aisha (Nick)? Aisha... is just Aisha. Also she's the princess of Andros (maybe, If she even told it in 4th special)

The only things I missed out on were the Brandon and Sky switch and the character development that happened with season 2 but I feel like i can attest to the fact that the feelings of tuning in every day to see which winx would earn their enchantix was universal regardless of the dub.

One thing I really love about winx specials. That's what they made Darkar a fake Avalon. This made Darkar a much more interesting calculating villain. Not just ":THEeViL LAUgh dude"
and fix the plot hole with Avalon 's complete disappearance after he delivered Bloom .

@@idkkkk7588probably didn’t want dub an additional two seasons

Sadly they were more determined to rush out seasons 1-4 for the word premiere of season 5

Same! The specials were my childhood!
They’ve got problems, but the specials are still pretty nostalgic to me.
oh yeah same 100%. they sure as hell aren’t perfect but they’re nostalgic as can be
One of the biggest issues of these specials are that they tried to make Bloom the "main, perfect character whose friends are just there".
Even tho bloom is my favorite i agree . Like bloom was still good in season 3 but then she started to get more focussed than the others
No need to make a big deal out of it, she's just a main character in a children's cartoon.

Still wondering about an AU where Disney and Iginio didn't have that despute and if they collabed together instead of Nickelodeon.
They could’ve done what they did with miraculous ladybug (which ironically was also sidelined by Nick) Disney + magical girls just works

Crosswire get together to work on some sort of surprise for Muffy and they imagine themselves as their Winx counterparts for a joke on the Cinelumè voice cast since 🎵"that's just the thing to doodlie-do-do!"🎵
PBS also would have found a way to actually put everyone in the club in a fun new way tied to their health/activity promotions as well.
Bloom- art
Stella- beach
Flora- gardening
Tecna- research in both book and tech because she's the Brain (not to be confused with her good friend Alan "Brain" Powers.)
Musa- jam session
Aisha- gym
Roxy- pets
Daphne- family relations

Because Straffi wanted to Rowling away the differences between Magic Winx and Charmix, and Nickelodeon went along with it.
Same, the specials are literally what got me into this show.
Same, they don’t hold up but I still love them
I grew up with the both the Nick and Rai dub. The Rai dub for season 1 and 2 and the Nick dub for season 3 amd 4. I wish Nick just voiced season 1 and 2 fully instead of making specials.
The Nick Dub is pretty solid imo. It's my second favorite after RAI.
Idk if it was good for the show, because when nick took over, it went downhill. A lot of plot holes like Bloom never using her healing again, the mess with "what is the final form" and the messy plot with Daphne
I was 12 when the specials came out. And season 3 introduced me to the show. From there I became obsessed and snuck onto TH-cam to watch the rest.
Omg bloom's first transformation was in the simulator?! They cut so many good battle sequences!
I agree, i hate the new transformations, too. They won't even transform. They are just swimming around in glitters while already in their fairy forms.
And calling it Charmix instead of Magic Winx.
I am a massive stickler for continuity and that drove me up every wall in my house.
The specials tho were planned out by Rainbow tho to quote on quote reintroduce fans to the series but in all reality they were just butchered down versions of the first two seasons leaving out any of the serious character development we got from those and from that point with S5 onwards it just got aged down and too chaotic
They wanted to make Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood
I swear winx still gives me a high whenever it’s mentioned or I see it 😂😂😂
16:04 I'm so glad somebody shares my opinion of hating cgi gardenia 😭
I used to love the Winx club whether if it’s animation is on Nickelodeon or 4kids tv. Even the songs when they transform are really smooth and heavy. To be honest I like the fact the storyline in the franchise different version shows that the characters especially the protagonist bloom can be used in situations that’s similar to the 4kids original in the first two seasons that can be more serious in a 4K style than how they were tone down in og 2D style, but It sucks the fact that Nick and rainbow didn’t do the same for the rest of the later seasons.
BTW let's all not forget how when nick dubbed season 3 they just cut charmix lmafo
In s3 you can literally see Blooms butt in her enchantix form 😭
Please do a video where you rank the voices of the trix and another one of the specialists.

Why does musa legs look like the knee joints are on backwards?
20:51 THEY WANTED TO UPDATE THE ANIMATION BUT HERE THEY JUST REUSED ANIMATION FROM SEASON 1!!!
I feel conflicted because I grew up on Nickelodeon Winx and I remember really liking Molly Quinn as Bloom. Her emotions comes out more when Bloom actually gets to be angry, like when Bloom regains her Dragon Flame and does that loud growly battle cry before she transforms.
I really enjoy watching your videos about Winx Club, since it keeps me in the Fandom as a whole and often gets me to rewatch the first 3-4 season (usually only up to 3)❤
As a matter of fact, I have taken a look into the different english dubs and I must admit, I much prefer my Main language German as a dub. Maybe it's nostalgia or maybe something else.
Still. Thank you for making me rewatch this show on almost a monthly bases. 😂❤
What are your thoughts on the winx club English channel being rebranded 😭
Very good question!
Something that is honestly just now coming to me is that in the first episode Bloom essentially mentions that she has friends. But we never hear about anyone she knew outside of Mitzi until season 4 with Andy and then season 6 with Selina.
21:13 SAY IT LOUDER
9:37 This was my favourite Season 1 Episode. I love box episodes.
damn, I never knew any of that, now I'm glad I watched 1st 3 seasons straight from cd-s with all the episodes on and never saw winx on nickelodeon at all X''')
Also by the voices sometimes from the different dubs since to me the other dubs made them sound older or too cartoony I liked how Nick made them sound like the typical teenager in the 2010s
Looking back from the og seasons I can understand why they redid season 1&2 due to the animation as a kid if this aired I probably wouldn’t had been as interested since even though the animation was decent compared to other shows at the time it probably would’ve been so different to stand and also at the time it was early 2010s and fashion then was so crazy and modern that it made sense why they choose they’re season 2/3 outfits since it was most marketable at the time plus ngl I feel like they sorta covered the necessities although they did left out some story lines that I wouldn’t had learn till a year or 2 later.
