There are a couple of musts that one has to do to be successful in sport. You MUST: - Capitalise on your opponents mistakes - Capitalise on ref calls going your way and - Capitalise on the little bit of luck that you get Argentina did all three. In the really big moments, they stood up and fought like tigers, but they were able to pounce when luck was on their side. This is not to say that their win was a product of fortune; this is me saying that this team is making a habit of being in the right place at the right time. Well done to a truly special side, from a Bok supporter who is not begrudging their success.
Just thinking out loud, what if Mannie had kicked over that relatively "easy" pen, and won the game away to Arg with, was it 10 changes to starting XV?
@@user-vs2hr1wq8d The way I look at it this: whenever two teams are within, say 5-10 points of each other, they were basically equally good. A dodgy ref call, a lucky bounce, an unfortunate spill, a badly timed injury can easily be the catalyst that either wins or loses a game. Case in point: in the matches against Australia and New Zealand, we could have easily scored another 2-3 tries per match, but also conceded 2-3 tries more per match. So my view is that on Saturday, we were as good as Argentina, but we weren't able to go that extra inch; Argentina though, were.
Well done to Los Pumas. I do feel that the Ref was afraid to ref the game. Lebok will struggle to get into the starting lineup for big games unfortunately. It is the thing called big match temperament. You go or you don't. Also don't loose sight of the fact that this Springbok team is the development team for the future. The young guys need to learn and experience these tough stuff.

Correction, they didn't shock the Boks, we all knew about the likelihood given Rassie's courage and willingness to experiment. Hopefully he is decisive in future selections and players worth investing in. But congrats to Argentina nevertheless, they are becoming an exciting world class team because they too, are experimenting and pivoting. What are the ABs doing in this space....zilz! WC 2027 will be interesting.
Thanks Ben and Dan. Nice and balanced opinions. Manie didnt lose that game. In actual fact his contestable kicks saved us from being totally embarrassed.
Nothing wrong with calling him out for missing another really crucial kick... these opps to own the 10 jersey come rarely and he has to grasp them. SFM, HP and even Hendrikse would have relished the chance, pressure and opp to win a Test match away with the last kick of a hard fought win. What he needs , luxury, is a place kicker playing in the backs but won't get in this current Boks setup.
Libboks problems this last game went far beyond that last kick is the real concern. Missed kicks to touch, running sideways, hospital passes, cracked under pressure long before that final kick.
Great analysis...absolutely correct. The game was lost early on for Springboks...can't blame the kicker in the last minute....yes, you do need BMT kickers but this wasn't a match where the Springboks played well and lost...the Springboks team that played were below average possibly due to Rassie experimenting with the new guys
No I don't agree with that at all and it's disrespectful to the Argentinian team. Argentina played the better rugby on the day and that should be acknowledged.
Easy, pick your 15th best lock as captain means you're going to have a problem. Just to illustrate how bad Moerat is I'll mention four locks from the bulls alone who are better then Moerat: Cobus Wiese, Ruan Vermaak, Jannes Kirsten and Ruan Nortje granted Nortje is a 5. The Stormers have at least one better lock. who can play 4 or 5 in Ruben Van Heerden. Reinhard Nothnagel from the Lions is better, the Sharks have Jason Jenkins, even Corne Rahl who are far far superior. And there are more currie cup locks I could add.
Argies has always lacked good rugby infrastructure. However, rugby isn't the most popular sport in South Africa either, it is soccer just like Argentina. Rugby not being the most popular can be said of England, Scotland, France, Italy, Australia, Ireland etc. Of the top teams it is probably only NZ but apparently basketball is becoming very popular there. Fiji is really the most impressive for such a tiny nation.
@@coatknight yes imagine the world rugby order if soccer didnt exist in those big countries, and AFL league cricket swimming in Ozzie.. soccer also erodes Fijian talent, the wallaby winger was the former Fijian ⚽️ goalkeeper!
I think the springboks were very lucky to have both nz games at home. Very lucky. Was clear the ref was trying to give the boks a leg up in argentina but even that couldnt get them over the line
Nah ABs got beaten by the better team🇿🇦😃. I mean I know you keep running away everytime we talk about it, but the way the ABs got dominated by the Boks in the scrum, no one was shocked by the ABs having their pants pulled down by the Boks 🙂
@@Edgycoo there is alot of hoping. Just like ABs sit 2nd when compared to the Boks, and lets not even get how badly the Boks destroyed your ABs in the sxrums too, not just in the rugby, the 2 times we played this year🤣
The fact that argies came back from 17/0 against the boks of all teams to win just shows how good they are getting 🇿🇦
Finally we have a final in South Africa in front of our own fans ❤😊we waited very long for this ❤go Bokke

Argentina will be in the top 2 soon- growing nation with solid forward pack and youngers coming through hold them in good stead .
Behind NZ, SA , Irish and French. What a top 2 that would be.

Also remember that the temperature at kick-off was about 36 degrees Celsius (97 Fahrenheit) and still mid-30's by end of the game.

Why Steven Kitshoff not back in the B team at least. Has been replaced by a v average scrummager in Steenkamp.
