You know I think it would be amazing to see a world cup in Argentina but it's going to the US instead. Obviously it's partly money related but I have to assume it's also because the coverage in Argentina is just not up to it unfortunately. I watch games in Argentina with big crowds (and we know how crowds in South America can rival anyone) but the atmosphere gets let down by the substandard production value. It's a shame because Argentina deserve it a lot more than the US does.
I am no expert but this manic drive to play attacking/running rugby does not sit well with me. I have watched nearly all Springbok games and some of the most beautiful tries were scored by the Boks of yesteryear. We have won four world cups playing Bok rugby. I feel as if the Boks coaching staff and management have capitulated to the pundits saying we play boring rugby. I have never seen a boring Springbok side. Just my opinion.
Unfortunately a team can't play the same game over and over and expect to win, we seen it in the past with NZ, Ire, Eng in 2019 where they successfully won 10 games in a row including beating the ABs by using the exact same dominant game plan ect Eventually the opposition will crack your defence or stop the attack just like the Boks did to Eng in the final. It's all about evolving, keeping ahead as Rassie has made very clear and especially being the Springboks where every team and coach has studied the Boks defence over the last few years to figure out how to get past it so it does need changing and these transitions are often a bit wobbly in the beginning and with Arendse out the Pumas really punished the Boks in the 2nd quarter. Had the Boks been up at HT as they had planned to be looking at their bench then we'd be singing a different tune as we were by all those 1 point wins, the difference then being that we expected it to be tight at the end hence we had a good goal kicker under pressure to close the game out. Libbok missing the sideline was also a crucial moment in the game but we not far off considering all things and the squad selection that went to Argentina, Boks are playing better than average because it was expected that they'd lose 1 to Aus and 1 to the ABs which we didn't.
I'm Argie and just a note...yes he blew that kick, but Albornoz who had a great game, blew a couple of them prior to that last one that would have put some distance and made that last kick not that important. So the most important issue was to let us alive after those initial minutes, after that the game changed a lot and overall I think Pumas played better. Nervewrecking, but a very entertaining game for any neutral.
Yes. True Argentina deserved the win and should've won. But still, sboks could've won. That kick was an opportunity to close the game out regardless of what happened before it or who deserved the win. Think what frustrates most people is that Manie seems to miss those opportunities. That kick and the penalty kick to the line.

DMac missed a similar kick in Cape Town straight in front basically. That was even more shocking. Mannie's kick wasn't a shock. He's pretty much 50 50 but had an almost perfect game if it was not for that missed touch and kick at the end. Mounga and Jordie missed kicks that would have won the game in the final for the ABs. And those are bloody good kickers. Feel sorry for Mannie, but he's still world class.

Respect to Los Pumas for beating the boks to bring them all back down to earth. The ref was fairly on par. 1. Please please please Rassie dont let rugby royalty blind you with moerat. He is not bok quality he is not an enforcer and definitely not a captain. Please just release him for the stormers and forget about him. 2. Please bring in a kick specialist to help Manie with his pressure kicking for posts. Also allow a sport phycologist work with him. 3. If you bring Manie on leave say Pollard or Sacha on 12 to take over the kicking. 4. BJD not in the scrum allowing only a 6 man scrum was a huge mistake specially 1 man down where the pumas made good on using that 10min to put us under the pump. Please bring in Ruan Venter as a replacement enforcer. Louw was fantastic taking over from BJD. The entire team had good and bad moments however the cluster at the mauls was shocking. I keep on hearing people say that we shouldn't have been in that position, but we were and we will be again. If Libbok cannot kick at crunch time yet Rassie needs to have a kicker to do so and take the pressure of Libbok.
And have been in the position before, this is not the first time, or the 2nd for Libbok. Repeatedly failing under pressure whenever the pressure comes on makes you just not a first pick player if you have other options. Sasha stepped up and performed, how old can Pollard get before a new backup 10 emerges. First of all: Congrats to Los Pumas for their performance to win this match at the stage that mattered, i.e. the final whistle. Now for a neutral (maybe conspiracy view) possible 3 reasons why the Boks lost: 1] Two years ago, the AB's and Aussies kicked the Boks and Pumas out of this competition and the Boks decided to join the URC and the Puma players had to be content to either join some of the European teams to be able to play rugby in its place; Only the Pumas or the Boks could win this competition this year and is thus a way in which the Boks and Pumas can say to NZ and Aussies " By kicking us out of this competition, your game definitely deteriorated whilst our games have definitely improved (a bit of one-upmanship gesture); and 2] Due to point 1 above, if the Boks win in Nelspruit and the Pumas gets 2 log points, they will end this competition in 1st and second position and if the Pumas win this match, these 2 teams still end as 1 and 2 (again a bit of one-upmanship gesture); and 3] SARU's Board has financial problems to balance the books due to the travel costs of the URC and EPC competitions and if the Boks won this first match against the Pumas, less people would attend the last match in Nelspruit since the Boks would already have won the competition - makes for a worse financial income for SARU (Both these scenarios will now improve the rankings for the Pumas, which is great, and deteriorate the world rankings for both the Aussies and the AB's). Now for a more Bok player critique: 1] After an incredible first 10 about minutes, the Boks performed the best of all their games in this competition, by being 14-0 up and were on a roll - then 2] The following players has sunk their possible consideration for future tests: a] Thomas du Toit can only do 2 scrums max; b] Moerat and Nortje cannot secure their own lineout ball when opposed in lineouts; c] Moerat is not yet a possible Springbok captain; d] The combinational loose trio of Wiese, Dixon and van Staden is far too slow to breakdowns; e] Reinach's clearance from both scrums and lineouts are far too slow be it for kicking himself or passing the ball; f] Pollard might be kicking well to the posts, but his tackling has deteriorated into being non-existent (maybe Siya Masuko from the Sharks should be given a chance to start at Nelspruit); Do not know if the successful kick to the posts by Pollard was a Pollard decision or a Moerat's decision, but was the wrong decision at the time since it showed a disbelief that the team could score a try after a kick for the corner; g] Combination of Am with Kriel did not work - maybe Am and de Allende should be tried at Nelspruit (which previously worked well) with Kriel on the bench or Sacha to replace Am (at outside centre); h] It seems that both Arendse and Mapimpi was instructed to run into the forwards in the middle of the field in attack (which backfired) as well as to defend the flyhalf position in the absence of Pollard's tackling on defense which immediately created a 2-man overlap for Pumas to score easily, at least 3 tries; i] Fassi had two major drawbacks, i.e. he could not catch any of the oppositions' contestable kicks nor defend properly as a fullback - he wanted to play and contest with the forwards - maybe he would be a nice flank to get some speed at that position for the Boks; j] Even though I really like what Manie Libbok does at the Stormers, if he plays for the Boks, there must be a proper goal kicker as well in the Bok team, like either Siya Masuko or Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu - Libbok must not be the Bok's goal kicker. The yellow card was unfortunate but according to the current rugby rules, so no real complaint, except that the whole Bok team's defense with Fassi being busy with the forwards, laft gapimg holes at the edges and at the back - which was exploited well by the Pumas. As Spiderman's (Peter Parker's) grandfather said: " With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility". 'Nuff said

Very lenient treatment of the Boks from the verdict team. While the breakdown and jackling looked good the Bok flanks, i.e the 6/7 combo, looked to slow to make crucial tackles when they were needed. When Libbok came on, it appeared he was instructed to use the high ball for attack as opposed to running the ball through the line - so much possession was handed straight back to the Pumas for very little gain.
the issue is that we have two systems, let's not forget that the attack system is having an impact on our defensive system as well. In 2023 we had a defensive structure, now it's like we trying to have two systems

Unacceptable at this level...He is a great Player, but unfortunately he lacks BMT. His body language always shows a lack of confidence when he is about to kick a penalty, unlike Sacha and Pollard. Also I don't believe at the moment that Moerat is good enough to have the Honor of wearing the SPRINGBOK jersey, never mind to Captain the SPRINGBOKS. On the day AM should have been Captain, he has a wealth of knowledge as a Captain and would have had a lot to say to our Players when the momentum swung in Argentina's favor. A great Captain knows how to motivate his Teammates (as We see KOLISI do week in and week out), and the thing with our MIGHTY SPRINGBOKS is they know how to win even when they not playing well...and that unfortunately didn't happen in this match, because that missed Penalty would have won the Match for the SPRINGBOKS, like we've seen them do so often in the past. There are just question marks over some players you can’t ignore. We are in a position where we are forced to look deep into our stocks and give exposure to young players because the big guns are in or approaching mid 30’s. So I’m not convinced of our depth yet and I expect more pain as we continue to give guys experience.

1. Please please please Rassie dont let rugby royalty blind you with moerat. He is not bok quality he is not an enforcer and definitely not a captain. Please just release him for the stormers and forget about him.
2. Please bring in a kick specialist to help Manie with his pressure kicking for posts. Also allow a sport phycologist work with him.
3. If you bring Manie on leave say Pollard or Sacha on 12 to take over the kicking.
4. BJD not in the scrum allowing only a 6 man scrum was a huge mistake specially 1 man down where the pumas made good on using that 10min to put us under the pump.
Please bring in Ruan Venter as a replacement enforcer. Louw was fantastic taking over from BJD.
The entire team had good and bad moments however the cluster at the mauls was shocking. Handeling shocking. Fassi, ox, vinny, Steenekamp and Eben really stood out.

I keep on hearing people say that we shouldn't have been in that position, but we were and we will be again. If Libbok cannot kick at crunch time yet Rassie needs to have a kicker to do so and take the pressure of Libbok.
And have been in the position before, this is not the first time, or the 2nd for Libbok. Repeatedly failing under pressure whenever the pressure comes on makes you just not a first pick player if you have other options. Sasha stepped up and performed, how old can Pollard get before a new backup 10 emerges.
I kind of feel sorry for Libbok, he should have been played with Faf through most of his failings, instead of with 9s that can't kick worth a damn and no other goal kicker. He's been set up to fail and failed.

First of all: Congrats to Los Pumas for their performance to win this match at the stage that mattered, i.e. the final whistle.
Now for a neutral (maybe conspiracy view) possible 3 reasons why the Boks lost:
1] Two years ago, the AB's and Aussies kicked the Boks and Pumas out of this competition and the Boks decided to join the URC and the Puma players had to be content to either join some of the European teams to be able to play rugby in its place; Only the Pumas or the Boks could win this competition this year and is thus a way in which the Boks and Pumas can say to NZ and Aussies " By kicking us out of this competition, your game definitely deteriorated whilst our games have definitely improved (a bit of one-upmanship gesture); and
2] Due to point 1 above, if the Boks win in Nelspruit and the Pumas gets 2 log points, they will end this competition in 1st and second position and if the Pumas win this match, these 2 teams still end as 1 and 2 (again a bit of one-upmanship gesture); and
3] SARU's Board has financial problems to balance the books due to the travel costs of the URC and EPC competitions and if the Boks won this first match against the Pumas, less people would attend the last match in Nelspruit since the Boks would already have won the competition - makes for a worse financial income for SARU (Both these scenarios will now improve the rankings for the Pumas, which is great, and deteriorate the world rankings for both the Aussies and the AB's).
Now for a more Bok player critique:
1] After an incredible first 10 about minutes, the Boks performed the best of all their games in this competition, by being 14-0 up and were on a roll - then
2] The following players has sunk their possible consideration for future tests:
a] Thomas du Toit can only do 2 scrums max; b] Moerat and Nortje cannot secure their own lineout ball when opposed in lineouts; c] Moerat is not yet a possible Springbok captain; d] The combinational loose trio of Wiese, Dixon and van Staden is far too slow to breakdowns; e] Reinach's clearance from both scrums and lineouts are far too slow be it for kicking himself or passing the ball; f] Pollard might be kicking well to the posts, but his tackling has deteriorated into being non-existent (maybe Siya Masuko from the Sharks should be given a chance to start at Nelspruit); Do not know if the successful kick to the posts by Pollard was a Pollard decision or a Moerat's decision, but was the wrong decision at the time since it showed a disbelief that the team could score a try after a kick for the corner; g] Combination of Am with Kriel did not work - maybe Am and de Allende should be tried at Nelspruit (which previously worked well) with Kriel on the bench or Sacha to replace Am (at outside centre); h] It seems that both Arendse and Mapimpi was instructed to run into the forwards in the middle of the field in attack (which backfired) as well as to defend the flyhalf position in the absence of Pollard's tackling on defense which immediately created a 2-man overlap for Pumas to score easily, at least 3 tries; i] Fassi had two major drawbacks, i.e. he could not catch any of the oppositions' contestable kicks nor defend properly as a fullback - he wanted to play and contest with the forwards - maybe he would be a nice flank to get some speed at that position for the Boks; j] Even though I really like what Manie Libbok does at the Stormers, if he plays for the Boks, there must be a proper goal kicker as well in the Bok team, like either Siya Masuko or Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu - Libbok must not be the Bok's goal kicker.
The yellow card was unfortunate but according to the current rugby rules, so no real complaint, except that the whole Bok team's defense with Fassi being busy with the forwards, laft gapimg holes at the edges and at the back - which was exploited well by the Pumas.

Well Done to the Puma’s. Great show I just a bit concerned that with the Boks performance past weekend we got out played. We should not except any loss. Having 17 minutes of brilliance and then go into hibernation does not win a game. Leadership and game management was lacking, captain not the solution.

The Boks wide channel & even 1 on 1 defence has gone to pot since the RWC; this pattern has repeated itself since the Irish tests and vs the ABs. What, may I ask is NOT going on. Whatever is being coached defensively (????) is simply not working.

Very lenient treatment of the Boks from the verdict team. While the breakdown and jackling looked good the Bok flanks, i.e the 6/7 combo, looked to slow to make crucial tackles when they were needed. When Libbok came on, it appeared he was instructed to use the high ball for attack as opposed to running the ball through the line - so much possession was handed straight back to the Pumas for very little gain.

BUT I just felt that you needed to be a bit more Honest with regards to Libbok and his kicks.
Unacceptable at this level...He is a great Player, but unfortunately he lacks BMT.
His body language always shows a lack of confidence when he is about to kick a penalty, unlike Sacha and Pollard.
Also I don't believe at the moment that Moerat is good enough to have the Honor of wearing the SPRINGBOK jersey, never mind to Captain the SPRINGBOKS.
On the day AM should have been Captain, he has a wealth of knowledge as a Captain and would have had a lot to say to our Players when the momentum swung in Argentina's favor.
A great Captain knows how to motivate his Teammates (as We see KOLISI do week in and week out), and the thing with our MIGHTY SPRINGBOKS is they know how to win even when they not playing well...and that unfortunately didn't happen in this match, because that missed Penalty would have won the Match for the SPRINGBOKS, like we've seen them do so often in the past.

There are just question marks over some players you can’t ignore. We are in a position where we are forced to look deep into our stocks and give exposure to young players because the big guns are in or approaching mid 30’s. So I’m not convinced of our depth yet and I expect more pain as we continue to give guys experience.
