    I was taught to pull the bottom end until the top end went down into the whipping and was concealed. Then cut the bottom end.

      That's what I thought too, plus it's more secure and tighter tension.

    Thanks for sharing and explaining this so well. I'm making some jewelry and trying to figure out how to end a braid and this will be perfect.

    Have you ever used a permanent texta or marker to colour the white inner of a fused end?
    I do sometimes in sewing projects.

    Why not pulling the end back through or hide it in the middle of everything? Out there it's lose and vulnurable

  • @jeffw8057

    I use this knot often to bind the end of a larger rope from unwinding. However, you missed the best part of using this knot in that application which is to pull the 1/2 knot literally back under the windings (to the left in your video) and toward the middle of the windings. Using this technique, you do not have to singe the rope end, and it will last longer than the rope being protected.

    Isn't this essentially called the Uni knot as it is known by fishermen?

    • @TheWeaversofEternity
      @TheWeaversofEternity  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not exactly. The uni knot looks similar to this knot, but they are tied differently if my research is correct.

      Thanks for the reply. Would you by chance know how to join 1 rope nylon bungee to two ends of hollow braid polypropylene rope? I'm trying to do this and i've searched TH-cam and have not seen one video that even comes close to how to splice or join 1 end of rope to 2 ends of a rope www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_752553_-1?gclid=Cj0KCQjw8YXXBRDXARIsAMzsQuVSNPOM9RdIj001TCzQH8qRfpNtMMiHU-lpN7JT97y3qm4OFOeklkEaAie-EALw_wcB
