    What do you think of this new Jeep? I feel like Jeep did a great job with it. They offer luxury, capability, practicality...but of course all of that comes at a price!

      I like this new generation fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L. They did a great job with the overall design schematics of the vehicle. It has a sleeker/seamless appearance now and a more luxurious look along with the luxurious feel over the outgoing fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. This vehicle will do well in overall sales.

      @@chrism796 Good choice vehicle for her. Jeep definitely knocked it outta the park with this fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L. To use some other sports analogies they caught the pass and ran to the end zone for a TD or dribbled the ball to the basket and delivered a nice posterized slam dunk. It took Jeep quite some time to release this fifth generation, but the wait was worth it. Also, it took Jeep quite some time to finally include third row seating in the Grand Cherokee. Third row seating was first rumored for the third generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it never came to fruition. That's the Jeep I have currently in the Limited trim. Third row seating was also rumored for the outgoing fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, but as we all know it never came to fruition. Now it did for the fifth generation. It was good Jeep took their time to include third row seating because for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L even someone that's 6ft tall can sit back there and still have headroom clearance. I have intentions on getting the Jeep Grand Cherokee L also. If I can't get it in the Overland trim with the packaging that's available, I'll go one tier higher and get it in the Summit trim. Either way I'll get it nicely equipped with the legendary 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. That engine is optional on the three top tier trims Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve. Is your wife getting hers with the V6 engine or V8 engine?

    I have a 2022 Overland Grand Cherokee L with the V6 . I swapped my 2015 2 door Wrangler for it . It’s night and day and a fully awesome upgrade . I was aiming for a vehicle with more luxury and still have capability. Jeep really nailed it with L model whether it’s a V8 or V6. The Overland trim fit me best so I went for it . Having the extra storage space was a great perk coming from a 2 door and no trunk space . It’s a comfortable ride and I have absolutely no complaints . The McIntosh sound system is awesome it took a little to get use to those adjustments of sound but once I found the perfect setting the music is so crisp and you get just the rite amount of bass . I have the Rocky Mountain Pearl coat exterior and it’s definitely eye appealing it really does not have a definite color sometimes it black other times it’s charcoal and if the lights hits the rite way it’s a earthy brown metallic with hints of green very cool and different. Had I not wanted the 3 row I probably would of went the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk trim with the two row they look really sweet ! Enough said tho I love my new Grand Cherokee L Overland ! I Love Jeep !

    Enjoyed this review, not too many reviews with the V8 Hemi. Most reviews with the v6 say it's a little underpowered for this big heavy rig. Not many v8's hitting dealers though, probably the $3,200 upcharge (v8 should be standard on Overland and Summit) and the poor 17mpg combined won't help V8 sales. A V6 Turbo with decent fuel economy like in the BMW X5 would have been goldilocks for this Jeep!

      In the coming days the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles will start coming in. Historically, previous generation Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles had the legendary 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine optional starting with the Limited trim. However, for this new fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Jeep decided to up the ante by having it optional starting with the Overland trim. As few of us to some of us know from reading articles in previous months the three top tier trims Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve will have the HEMI V8 engine optional. What Jeep should've done is have it optional for both the Overland and Summit trims. Then, have it as the standard engine on the Summit Reserve trim since that's the highest trim. As for other powertrains either late this year or in the early months of next year Jeep will launch the hybrid powertrain. At some point based on info I've gotten from few sources there might be a turbo charged six cylinder engine. If it comes to fruition I think it might be a turbo straight 6 engine and not a turbo V6 based on information floating out there.

      @@MIZUNOMP60 I think the overall reliability for the adjustable air ride suspension system will be good. For this new generation fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Jeep made couple tweaks to it so that it'll be better than the air suspension system found on the outgoing fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee.

      @@jefferybaxter1225 thanks for the info. That was an area of concern if we look at the Jeep. It looked like a weak point for the fourth gen after doing some research.. Hopefully Jeep with this new iteration is a more reliable product all round. I know a lot of people are weary of the Jeep brand for their reliability record but I'd like to think they're improving on this with each new generation. These new GCL's aren't cheap especially the Overland and Summit models and you'd want peace of mind dropping that kind of money!

    Not much of a road test when all you do is take it out on some flat highway. Steep hills and some sharp corners will tell us more about how it really handles and performs. I have a GC Limited 2019 and it is ok but it does alot of revving when climbing hills and accelerating> JT Less power but lighter front end.

    I appreciate that you reviewed one with the HEMI V8. Although, its really hard to find a lot of videos that show the highest trim level AND the HEMI for some reason. I am looking forward to the Summit Reserve with the V8. Not sure if they are hard to find, but almost all of the videos I find seem to be of the V6, and lower trim levels, which it seems fairly unanimous that people are not fans of the V6 combined with this vehicle in general. Between the size/weight, and the towing, the V6 just doesn't seem to fit here. Now if I can find a video that gets an up close of the exhausts so I can hear more of the V8, that would be nice lol

    Hello Prime Autotainment. Good in depth review and drive video for this newly released fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Jeep did a great job with the overall design schematics of this vehicle. The exterior has a sleeker/seamless appearance which is nice and better than the outgoing fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. The interior looks and feels more luxurious over the outgoing fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee as well. I test drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee L twice so far in two different trim levels. The first test drive was early last month in the Limited trim. The ride was nice n comfy and it wasn't from any of the top trims. Just imagine the ride comfort from the three high tier trims Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve feels like. The second test drive was during the 2nd to last week of last month, but this time it was in the Overland trim. The ride comfort was nicer than the Limited trim due to coming equipped with the adjustable air ride suspension system. For the Overland trim I tried out couple other features which wasn't found on the Limited trim. The hands free foot activated lift gate is nice, the power folding rear seats are nice as well and the McIntosh 19 speaker premium audio system sounded great! On both instances I went to the dealer with the initial intent to test drive one with the legendary 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. However, none arrived yet at the local dealership with that engine. That's good your wife was able to get one with the V8. I'm sure she likes the quick burst of acceleration. As few of us to some of us know from reading articles in previous months the HEMI V8 engine is optional on the three top tier trims Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve. From my view Jeep should've made the HEMI V8 engine standard on the Summit Reserve trim since it's the highest trim. Historically, previous generation Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles had the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine optional started with the Limited trim, but with this new fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L Jeep decided to up the ante by having it optional starting with the Overland trim. There are just couple corrections to be made based on what was shown on screen or mentioned in this video.
    The dual exhaust tips are actually concealed for the three lower trims Laredo, Altitude and Limited. At the back end for those three trims you can't see them while standing up or at regular view, but they can be seen when someone bends down to look. The dual exhaust tips are exposed on the Overland, Summit and Summit Reserve trims. For those three trims the exhaust tips are integrated through the bumper, but they're not concealed because they still can be seen at a regular viewing angle. Since either in the 2016 or in the 2017 model years for SUVs, as a whole few auto manufacturers here and there....the luxury ones in particular started to integrate the exhaust tips through the bumper. I assume they started doing exhaust tips bumper integration so that it adds a sleeker/seamless appearance and at the same time adding an extra luxury look to the vehicle. I guess that's why Jeep decided to do it like that this time. The second correction is the ground clearance at regularride height. The default ground clearance height is actually 8.5 inches and not 8.3 inches shown on the screen text at the 8:39 time mark to 8:42 time mark. The ground clearance is correct though at the highest setting shown on screen at 10.9 inches. I'm on agreeable terms with you that the use of the piano black was a little too much. I assume Jeep did it like this to go with the flow based on what they saw from the luxury mid-size SUV competitors. In the center console area where the switches and dial shifter are, the use of some kind of metal finish could've been used or a combination of a little piano black and some metal finishes. Maybe in a mid-cycle refresh of this fifth generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L we could see that or if not maybe they'll do something like that for the next generation sixth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L. You're right about the off road tires. The off road tires plays a role for the amount of noise entering the cabin and I think the rim size as well. Back at the 2nd to last week of last month when I test drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee L in the Overland trim, it came with 20 inch rims with a different style than the ones on the Overland trim shown in this video. In this video I'm glad you mentioned and demonstrated the hands free foot activated lift gate. Only you and couple other You Tube channel reviewers did that. The other You Tube reviewers who reviewed either the Overland, Summit or Summit Reserve trims did not mention or demonstrate that feature. I tried out that feature and it was nice. Like what you said this will be of use for whoever has their hands full. I currently have the third generation Jeep Grand Cherokee in the Limited trim and I have intentions on getting the Jeep Grand Cherokee L. However, I'm not going to get the first year of the new generation Jeep Grand Cherokee L though. I'll get the second year of the new generation so that it'll give me more time to put some money aside for it and also by that time couple more standard features will get added. When the time comes for me to get it I'll get it in the Overland trim nicely equipped with the legendary 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine. Should be GRRREAT!!

    Biggest complaint is the missing passenger screen. Giving the passenger access to rear controls (family camera, temperature) passenger settings and specifically, capability to alter navigation while the vehicle is in motion is a HUGE deal to people who use these as family caravans. I think this is a huge miss on the Overland or Summit trim. Not having to mess with what is displayed on the center/main screen for the driver is nice.

    • @PrimeAutotainment
      @PrimeAutotainment  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Me too! The Wagoneers are quite a bit bigger overall - more in between Tahoe and Suburban sizes and they will be based on a body in frame platform. I’m surprised they made this L version as long as they did but those will be pretty massive

    • @jefferybaxter1225
      @jefferybaxter1225 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Jeep Grand Cherokee L will still be a mid-size SUV. Jeep added the third row seating for this new generation because current Jeep Grand Cherokee owners submitted requests to include it and also they included it this time due to the fact that most of the rival mid-size SUVs have third row seating. Later on this year probably around November or December Jeep will release the new fifth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee with the usual two rows of seats. Now that we're in August Jeep decided to release the Jeep Grand Cherokee L first sometime last month before the two row seating one due to the high demand of third row seating these days. At the moment Jeep doesn't have a full size line SUV. However, that will change because either sometime this month or sometime next month Jeep will release the Jeep Wagoneer and Jeep Grand Wagoneer to fill in the empty full size SUV line hole. The Jeep Wagoneer will compete with the regular full size SUVs while the Jeep Grand Wagoneer will compete with the luxury full size SUVs. As for the Jeep Grand Wagoneer based on videos along with pictures I've seen the interior for it will give the interiors from the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes GLS, BMW X7 and Infiniti QX80 a run for their money.

    Ah, a new entry in the "Brontosaurus" sub-category of unibody SUVs. So named for its size, its appetite for dinosaur juice, and its long-term future. At 204.9" long, it's larger than any other so-called "midsize" SUV other than its fellow Brontosaurus the bus-like Chevy Traverse (205.9"). Engine choices include prodigious power with an optional 357 HP V8 that spells a very thirsty 14 mpg in urban/suburban environments. As far as its future is concerned, like its rivals and the dinosaur for which the group is named, it ain't bright. Mammals eventually displaced the dinosaurs and hybrid and electric vehicles pose a similar threat to vehicles like the Grand Cherokee L.
    Ironically, as massive as the GC-L is, it doesn't offer several class leading features. Cargo space behind the third row is only average for a 3 row unibody SUV. The Telluride is about 8" shorter than the Jeep but it provides 21 cubic ft of cargo space compared to the GC-L's 17 cf. The Telluride offers more 2nd and 3rd row legroom (42.4"/31.4" vs 39.6"/30.3"). And overall passenger space in the Telluride is 158 cubic ft vs 152 cf in the GC-L. Towing capacity for the GC-L is 6200 lbs, a substantial figure. But versions of the smaller Dodge Durango offer up to 8700 lbs.
    All in all, the GC-L and the even more massive Grand Wagoneer are halo models for a dying breed of vehicles. Jeep dealers won't sell many but they'll draw folks to showrooms. And much like the brontosaurus they'll probably be featured as stars of museums and amusement attractions for future generations.
