Great video, thanks. I am upgrading my 2016 Focus ST from Sync 2 to Sync 3 at the moment. I was very lucky to be able to access the parts from a dead Focus Sport. Anyway, the weird thing is my Sync 2 USB hub with the SD card slot & single USB-A actually has the same power outlet as a Sync 3 USB hub, I don't need the Gen2b power adapter, I found that to be unusual from all the research that I have done.
Friend have you ever used a drill? Maybe a rotary tool and either slot the holes or make new one's depending on how much it's off. Kudo's for the video though :)
When you use FORScan, I think it'll automatically detect your VIN. In FORScan, you can turn all those things on/off. Focus ST doesn't have any of those so they're off
I have a 2017 focus st with the tiny screen. How can I check to see which one I have or to find out if I can do this to mine? Sorry first focus and only a month in

I've seems a few video on doing this and it looks simple enough, yet the dealer said it's not possible to convert from sync 2 to sync 3. I'm thinking of doing this to my Focus ST. Does everything still work after the conversion like the steering wheel controls, voice commands, etc and can I use the factory GPS antenna?
The dealer is right, you can't just update your existing Sync 2 APIM, you have to find a Sync 3 APIM and swap out the Sync 2 one. Yeah, everything on the steering wheel still works! For the GPS antenna, because the Sync 2 APIM's GPS antenna is built into the APIM, you'll have to get an external one for the Sync 3 APIM. I have the name of the antenna I got in the video description but it doesn't seem to work very well since the time is always wrong on my Sync 3. Not a big deal since I'm using Android Auto most of the time.

i found a guy that is selling his sync 3module (with no gps antena or usb though). it belonged to a fiesta titanium2017. do you know if its compatible with my focus titanium 2016(that has sync2)?
Hi , Can I continue to use the old hub as I will be using an Android phone? You mentioned it in the video, but after installing SYNC 3, will the SD Card and Aux ports still work? And will the USB input in front of the gear also work?
Yeah, if you're using just Android Auto, you can get away with using the old hub. I don't think the SD card and the aux will work with Sync 3 because it doesn't use either of those for anything in the operating system. If you're keeping the old hub, the front will work. You'll have to use it since that'll be your only USB port.

@@1cemoy Yeah, you can get a dual port hub like this one and Android Auto will work with either: naviupgrade.com/shop/hardware/sync-3-carplay-enabled-usb-hub/ This is what I did and so I'm good for Apple CarPlay too. If you get the dual port hub, it takes away power from the front USB near the shift knob so keep that in mind. If you have a 2013-2015 Focus, you'll need this, do some research though: naviupgrade.com/shop/accessories/adapters/hub-wiring-adapters/usb-hub-power-adapters/

ford got into a class action for the original MyFord Touch, which I assume Sync 2 is related to.

You're welcome! :) Yup! If all you care about is Android Auto, you don't need the new USB hub. You only need it if you want Apple CarPlay.

Not out of the box. You have to get an adapter like AAWireless that plugs into your USB port

Good question! I don't think it's gonna work. The screen Ford used on the Fiesta is smaller than the Focus
