His whole song is about not knowing why he's fighting, and that fighting and death is his only purpose. Raiden fights to protect, Sam fights to fight. Sam doubts that he's in the right, so he decides to bet it all on a final duel with Raiden. If Raiden wins, then Raiden was right and Sam dies. If Sam wins, then Sam was right and Raiden dies. Reviving him would leave him in the exact same position: Still not knowing why he's fighting, with only fighting and death as his purpose. It'd be throwing away his growth entirely and resetting him back to square 1.
That drumming and guitar work is just outstanding. It's reminiscent of the original song while being its own thing that manages to heighten the feeling when listening to it. Consider me blown away. And maybe a little jelly. 👍

Everyone's talking about Red Sun, but here I am waiting for The Stains Of Time. I even have a bit of an interpretation as to how _that scene_ could work out. When Raiden's body was made host to a yokai, the ones who did that placed a seal on his sense of pain. This was meant to help him control his powers better, but also ended up limiting him, as his old self (not sure what you'd call it here) would synchronize far better with the somewhat bloodthirsty yokai within him, thus letting him draw out that much more power... at the cost of his mind. Thus, when facing this new foe, he calls to his allies, and makes a request that risks him losing himself to his past once more... ...He requests them to remove his seal of pain.
What I meant by this is that the ending is similar to the beginning, the beginning showing (I think) his father and the end showing how he returns to his deceased father.
