Jb4 for life ! Had it on my 135i , 335is , mini s b48 , and now on my g42 m240i . Terry and everyone else at bms have amazing customer service and always responsive. For that idc what a flash tune offers ill always stick with bms. Super happy to see we can achieve this with jb4.
I have done both on b58's - jb4 and flash tune. Found jb4 will do it but not consistently and potential limited, constant battle on fuel limits and adaptives get out of wack after awhile, especially with any ethenol mix and starts causing desired vs actual parameters deviations that result in fuel trims maxing, throttle closures and timing pulls that make it about the same et's/ power as stock but with a lurching affect. Also very nerve racking trying to spoof in more timing running a factory flash 14.5 afr at WOT with no auxiliary fueling. Even when running WMI at 75-80% mix afr's still only in high 13's which doesn't give me any fuzzy feelings as far as what ifs and wiggle room if anything were to happen. Flash tune is much more stable, consistent, higher potential and once tuned safer with much smoother power band through all throttle positions.
This is straight facts . I have jb4 on my 22 x3m and I have the flex fuel kit . The afr always looks scary at high 14s maybe even a 15 at one point and the throttle closures are so annoying . Adding port and custom map on jb4 will be the same out come as a real custom flash without the port injection but I guess you are paying for that femto for a reason 🤷🏽♂️
I remember having JB4 on my e90 335i before MHD came out (during the times of Cobb flash). It was not as stable and VANOS codes came on during light tracking or aggressive street driving. When I switched to Cobb flash tune, none of the codes came back. Then later came MHD.
Only reason to go DME flash tune is if you plan of doing a turbo swap. JB4 is easily the better option for lightly modified cars like the majority of drivers who only do intake and exhaust.

Yeah I agree with you. If you are replacing a turbo you should definitely go femto unlocking all the way. But if your just going FBO I think JB4 is a good option
Another big con is the trans thinking it's still at stock hp levels. Also is the jb4 running 14.7 afr or is the jb4 able to spoof it? Gen 2s whole afr lambda table is set to 14.7 until it times out and hits component protection after 30sec of full throttle or if egt gets too hot. I Haven't seen gen 3 tables, but I'm curious if it's able to adjust those.
Yeah they said they scale PI to compensate for that. I'm not sure if it's related to spoofing fuel trims or something else. They can't directly spoof afrs.
Is the hacking of the IAT to control timing considered safe? Pretty cool either way, would love to skip the femto BS. Curious if this would all work on a manual Supra? Edit: nvm watched the rest of video and checked around on forum, cool setup but def gonna stick with the unlock lol
unlock takes around 7 days exactly now from day DHL picks up the package to returned to you, cost is 1500-1600 USDwhich includes unlock + bm3 or mhd license

Jb4 is just not consistent and not as safe your tapping into sensor to trick the ecu . Safety protocols don’t kick in the same as a real flash that’s running through the ecu it self. Ive always had mhd or bm3 with my gen b58 and my b58tu but I had to switch to jb4 once I got in my x3m and its a different experience, it’s doable but if I was bold enough to ship my dme and get taxed for a custom tune I prolly would I didn’t just spend this bread on a piggy back 😂hopefully it’s just cracked open soon . New bmws are dropping and they will be going out of warranty sooner or later which is when they tend to stop caring about sending over the air updates to lock

after all those mods at that point I would just get it unlocked

If you get an Active Autowerkes catted down pipe, you won’t have a check engine light

Well it’d still be octane limited even with PI so maybe high 400’s (similar #s to stock turbo full e85)

Probably their only car and they don’t want to deal with parking their car for a week or two
