Very good casting. With the fly dropping almost 90° right from the end of the flyline! These are like techniques you develope over a time yourselve because where all have that hunter blood still in us I guess. Looking back how eager I wanted to know everything about flyfishing. But even the store owner didn't anything how to cast. Wich wat flies. Story short back in the 80's here in NL I learned casting from short paragraphes in old rare little booklets.Didnt know any other flyfisher. In the late 90's suddenly there where tying clubs and flyfishing was booming buisyness here. And now there arent groups of old men shouting jokes like "Did you catch salmon already" and more of the simple minded dutch thinkers. Glad that once I put my teeth in something I like,I will succeed at last. And fished a lot in Norway and other countries. But NO is my favorite. Such beauty. Like coming home the first time I said after half an hour driving in No after leaving the Stena line. Flyfishing is so much more than just fishing.Nothing poetic or dreamy but very special.
Re: the double haul - maybe it was windy at the surface - and he needed it for turnover? Always hard to properly judge conditions from a video. Some nice fishing footage- particularly when the slow mo was well applied and not gratuitous. Drones, 'trendy' titles etc. just a bit of 'I can therefore I do' really and they detract from the flow of the work. Music - well again a matter of taste. Nevertheless thanks for putting this out there.
Why is it that so many of these fishing videos insist on playing awful music throughout?! There’s no need for it - just rely on the natural sounds of the river plus some commentary, otherwise it’s unwatchable!
I miss this bloke so much! Will always remember the days we shared together, and fortunate to have fished the Annan with him when he lived there
Excellent video lots of good tips thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent film. Great production values. Sound advice about tackle and approach, plus some nice catch footage. Well done!

Great video and just great to see Tony. Gone too young.
He was a great friend and passionate fly fisher. Taken far too young. Tight Lines. Nicky
@@techsecmedia I only met him a few times about salmon research ideas but struck by his knowledge and enthusiasm. Really nice guy.
Nice wee video👍🏻
What's the name of that brown jumper you've got on ??
Do you really need to do a double hall cast for a river.
I use it for distance, yes even in small streams
perfect
Just stumbled across this. Greetings from the antipodes. Nicely paced video. What time of year was this, trees seem bare?
The Lads look around as they were on the sly fishing those waters...
+Ken Martin That made me chuckle. I promise it was all above board. Tight lines. Nicky
