  • Simon Kidd and Dave Grove head out on the Upper East Dart on the Hunt for Wild Brown Trout. Dartmoor in all its glory on a hot sunny day. There is something very special about fishing these small moorland streams. Dave talks about the entomology of the river. Hope you guys enjoy the video with some top tips and proven tactics we use on local wild trout streams. The dry dropper, is one of our most utilized method when catching fish and we hope to shed some light on how we set ours up. Tight Lines.

This is lovely. It doesn't get any better than fishing small wild streams for pretty trout - their markings in peaty water are so vivid - and seeing and appreciating the surroundings.

Lovely. We have similar fishing here in Scotland, and on some moors even a few char just to add some surprises. I use a 6' rod with #3 line and a small fish feels enormous on that, especially Scottish wild browns which are as hard as nails....ha ha ha.
Great to watch, thanks for posting.

Lovely! Those streams are of amazing beauty! I fly fish for a very short period during the year mainly in Prince Edward Island near Where the novel Ann of green gable was written. The soil is red and the grass and forest surrounding the streams are lush green we never know ahead of time if we are going to catch a brook trout a rainbow trout or a small salmon. I always fish barbless as I catch and release but sometime I even cut the hook as well when I don’t feel like having to even pull the fish toward me and just feeling the little tug is good enough. Thank you for sharing. There is nothing comparable to wading along a stream of fast water in the shade of the forest. It’s along one of those rivers that I once decided to cut the hook on my fly and tried to land gently my fly on leaves over hanging the stream and realized how much fun it was to focus on the fly presentation as it is impossible to hook a fish without a hook! 😁😁😁 once it was too nice for fishing so I left my rod on the side of the stride and spend the evening taking pictures and observing how the fishes were moving and feeding in the stream. I always have my camera with me when I go fishing yet many time I forget my fishing equipment! 😁😁😁

Yes. I did once try to explain that casting was pleasurable just on its own ( without catching fish ) to a
      girlfriend . She didn't get it ..
But every now and then you just do a " perfect " cast .No one else
sees it but YOU know !!

fantastic day's fishing, could you let us know where you get your possum hair from, and what part of the possum, ie belly or upper, i did manage to get some but is very fine and downy not really suitable for dry fly. well back to the vice, keep up the fine video's. Ian

Sir, your name dropping of all the countries you have fished is a little pretentious and has put me off your otherwise great video. We are not interested in where you have travelled all over the globe. Really sorry, you are not the only person who has travelled . Bad form.
