I finally got the system installed on my 2017 3.0t. I did the variation with the stamped x pipe back to the flow fx resonators. I love it, and I'm glad I took your advice and didn't do the borla with it because it would have quieted the exhaust way too much for me. Honestly though, I'm surprised how quiet it is with just the resonators. Do you think it will get a tad louder as I drive it more? Thanks!!

If you want to push the power and like it a little louder, use an x pipe instead of any mid-muffler and just do the flowfx resonatros.
when you get to talking about all the different pipes i tend to get lost sometimes , basing off your other videos for your custom exhaust , if i do the borla , flanges , resonators etc that you have listed in your other videos with flex pipe will it still sound good and have that aggressive tone to it without a whinny tone. in your other video you have stated you’re more into deep older tones , and that’s how i would like 3.0T to sound , any other suggestions
That is the setup the guys have in the examples i provided in the video. If you like that tone, do this setup. If you are keeping the cats, install the x pipe and just do the resonators out back if you want it a bit more aggressive.
Love the exhaust sound. I have a 2016 q50 red sport awd and was wondering if I did the Borla muffler and fx resonators with the stock cats would that be ok ?
It would be ok and people have done that, but if you like a more aggressive tone, you can do a regular x pipe instead of the borla and then use the FX resonators out back. Turbos act as mufflers essentially so the borla isn’t all that necessary if keeping cats
I have the tips that are found in my “favorite amazon things” link in the description. They are UPower Dual wall 4” tips. But they are only 2.5” inlet.
I just got my exhaust done today. I got the borla xs pro muffler installed in the the middle and then straight out back with upower tips. It still doesn't sound that loud. My question is would it get louder if I remove the borla muffler and just make it all straight pipe from the cats back, or is there anything else I can do to make it louder. Thanks
@@SpeedCultureStudios Flanges, gaskets, and exaust tip inlet also have to be 3''? Also noticed you have only 1 flex pipe for this setup in the description, is that correct? and if so where would it be placed? Sorry, kinda new to this. Thanks in advance.
@@VsualizeReality Its 1 set of flex. You will typically find them as a pair. Flex pipe goes in the same place it is located from the factory. Just take a look under your car and you'll see it up near the cats/test pipes.
I have a Q50 RS with stock cats, in your opinion what sounds better? The borla mid muffler or the fx resonators? Would it be make it quitter if both are installed?
Hey everyone, was wondering if anyone is using this setup for daily driving? Is it too loud because that is my biggest concern. Is there anything I can replace/add to make it quieter because I’m daily driving my g and really don’t want it to be loud
Aw man, I wish I woulda rewatched this video sooner. Getting my system installed tomorrow, lol. Just came across your part of not going with the borla mid muffler if you're keeping your stock cats. Anyone know if that is just going to make the system TOO quiet if I have both? I guess I'll be finding out
@SpeedCultureStudios just in time! What a life saver lol, thanks! I'm probably go with the first option you said, foregoing the mid muffler and just keeping the resonators. But I gotta get an x-pipe where the mid muffler would've gone right? Just any ol generic one they have at the shop I'm doing it?
@SpeedCultureStudios and actually. With thr stock cats, comparing just the resonators, vs just the borla. Is volume and tone going to be about the same? Or what would you think the difference would be?
I just got 3inch full down pipes that reduce to 2.5inch at the outlet flange, should I go with wider 3inch exhaust pipe or just follow your advice with the 2.5inch wide pipe. I am planning on tuning it one day ! Your videos help a lot 💯 (2019 3.0T RWD Q50)
I have a 2015 qx50 stock , I currently have a muff delete only and sounds great . Anything else I could do for it or anything to give my car a little more kick when I need ? I normally will drive it in the manual mode around when im cursing
sorry for the dumb comment, i had this done a few months ago but i had to buy two sets of flanges one set welded onto the cats after cutting off the stock cat flanges and then the other set welded onto the exhaust piping correct? it sounded like you said the 2.5" flanges could bolt right up to the stock cats.
@@SpeedCultureStudios ah man the guy had me buy an extra set for no reason then. But the stock cats flange is 2.25” no? With the new flange being 2.5” that would still work?
Hey SCS, I'm fairly new to this, i have a stock Q50, if i do this setup, could i leave off the borla? And by leaving off the borla will it be louder? Thanks!
Your exhaust system sounds great..should I keep my catalytic converter..or test pipes..Don"t want to sound like a mustang. Have a 2019 Q50 infiniti lux
Hey SPCS I’m really interested in getting your custom exhaust setup put on my 2018 AWD Q50 I was planning on goin with the 3” setup as I want to get the vehicle tuned in the future. Are all the parts linked in the description everything I need for the full 3” setup?
Yes. Just make sure to read my additional comments. If you're planning on tuning, consider just an x pipe rather than a mid muffler--this will help ensure maximum flow. Flanges are getting hard to find right now so try google or your local exhaust shop who may stock them.
Get tuned after the catback is installed, obviously, but if you’re going for max hp, go all 3” pipe. X pipe instead of the borla out to 3” flowFX resonators near the tail pipes
What do you mean at the very end? They are pretty much at the end, so you wouldn’t notice any difference. With res test pipes there may be a touch of drone at about 1900-2100 rpm
Not that easy. It would be very expensive to make them individually not to mention jigs would need to be made and then the cost of shipping a complete system would be crazy. I’d love to partner with a manufacture that could do this very easily and cheaply. Hard to find
@@SpeedCultureStudios I'm trying to start a exhaust shop in the near future Would hit you up if I do establish a muffler shop so we can do the scs exhaust system on a bigger scale👍
Hello SCS! I have learned from your youtube and helpful. I have question the set up. My car is 2015 Q50 sport. I installed Remark Axle back muffler but it has so much drone. but I want to keep this Axle back. So I am just thinking add Borla Pro xs mid muffler. Do you think is it no more drone? And I will tune ecuteck. Any reccomandation Please. Thank you!
okay i hope u respond years later… i’m stuck. i’m trying to go the 3inch version on my 18 luxe but i can’t find any flanges. could u pls assist? i have ams ldp not installed yet because i wanted to do an exhaust first but struggling.
Flanges are tough to find at the moment. Many exhaust shops will have them. Maybe just call the shop you plan to go to and see what they have. Also your downpipes might be 2.5” so you could potentially just get the 2.5 and have a coupler go to 3” for the rest.
@@SpeedCultureStudios so i didn’t get them put on yet, but i did some deep digging and found a flange, but im confused as to how it will work from the stock downpipes back? could u explain that piece by piece a little better
@@SpeedCultureStudios it just doesnt make the most sense to me maybe im misunderstanding, but what is going to connect the stock downpipes until i install my ams’

Hey SCS I have a fully stock 2019 Infiniti Q50 RS wha do you recommend for the best sound quality with this exhaust I got alittle confused in the video can you help me out
@@SpeedCultureStudios I can't find a good true x pipe. They all seem to have bad reviews. The MagnaFlow Tru-X looks just like the pressed metal ones. Can you point us to a good one?
So if you’re going for the 3 inch magnaflow would I have to get 3 inch flanges and gaskets as well or could I just use the 2.5 from the links you provided
@@xYrnAntx personally, I would do a normal x pipe-but a good one, not a stamped echo chamber-and flowfx resonators. Turbo cars tend to be quieter so the big mid muffler isn’t as important
I see that on the description it says if I keep the cats, to only do the borla or the fx resonators. Is there a reason why? Do you think I can still still do the borla and resonators?
I am very confused what to get. Im a little lost and still new to this. I have a stock 3.0 AWD. What should i be buying to have mine sound as great as the advertised cars
i got a 3.0t and i want to run the x pipe. so my question is if all i need is (flange gasket x2), (3” flex pipe x2), (3” flowfx x2), (3” x pipe), (3.5” flanges x1 or x2??) ?? if someone could give me advice on what exactly i need it would be great
I have a 3.7 awd and you say for the awd to consider getting a xpipe but where would it go because it’s not in your illustration of doing the system in reverse
It’s not in the illustration of reverse because you don’t need an x pipe in the reverse order. The borla is the x pipe. However, many people have installed it on the awd Q50 like normal without issue.
@@SpeedCultureStudios ok so it’s basically a alternative if we didn’t want to install the borla. Do you believe it sounds better with the xpipe or Borla Xpipe
So if I’m keeping stock cats do I get an X pipe that’s gonna connect from the cat to the flow fx and the flow fx’s to the magnaflow muffler ? That’s what I’m trying to understand. I got an AWD btw
2 questions. What is the difference between borla pro xs and borla turbo xl? If I went with the magnaflow what sound difference can I expect with and without resonators. Drone issues?
Hey I’m really interested in this exhaust setup I have a Q50 3.0t awd, and I’m planning on tuning it in the future so should I get the 3 inch setup with the magnaflow muffler, flowmasters, and no flex pipes?
Great Vid..Question for you..i have a 2016 q50 awd twin turbo with downpipes..i want to install the scs catback, my question for you is which way would you install it? Straight back like you said in the vid or reverse..i want a nice aggressive sound without rasp
It seems to work best in reverse order for awd cars. Shops are scared to install it as designed, but it’s fine. If you’re looking for an aggressive sound, maybe just go with a plain x pipe and flowfx resonators. The borla may tone it down too much for your liking.
Yes I’m sure it would work and I’d love to hear it! And no, if you remove cats it does not pass smog. If you keep the factory cats then it’s a good idea to do the borla only
@@SpeedCultureStudios So. Factor cats, straight pipe to the borla and that's it?? Or the other way around?? I have just loved the sound of yours and I want that rumble!! Not that raspy Honda shit.... lol
I would use the components mentioned for the 3” setup. If you’re going for max performance, just get a 3” x pipe rather than the mid muffler and use the 3” resonators out near the tips.
I like your exhaust set up, but with turbo engines back pressure is bad, but scavenging is good. What are your thoughts on this. Would you say an exhaust that goes 2.5" from the down pipes to the resonated X pipe and then expand to 3" about 2 feet from the X and expand to 3.5" for the remaining distance to the rear would help with scavenging while reducing back pressure utilizing a varying size exhaust system. I'd love your thoughts on this.
From what some testing has shown, there is little if any scavenging at the point of the y/x pipe, so what my suggestion generally is for the 3.0t, particularly if you will be modifying and tuning, is go from the 2.5” downpipes to 3” pipe. and because the turbos have such a muffling effect, I would use a typical x pipe rather than the resonated x. My opinion is that a 3” dual catback is sufficient, but I don’t think 3.5” after the x would hurt anything. In an NA 3.7 tested by motordyne, some of the best results were achieved with a system that gradually increases in diameter-but more of in a cone-shaped fashion rather than stepping up at certain points. Does that make sense? Id love to see some testing done with what you’ve suggested!
@@SpeedCultureStudios since I don't have my car yet, having to wait until after I close on my house, what is the size of the stock catted down pipe? I've read it's quite small around 2". I was even thinking of going with 2.25" from there to a stamped 2.25" x pipe then go to 2.5" straight resonators off the x, they would be about 24-28" long and then go 3" off of them all the way back. That would be a good progressional size increase and it should reduce cost some since the stamped X and straight resonators are cheaper.
I have a 2016 3.0 Redsport AWD. Would it make any difference in sound whether I put the flow flex resonators under the car after the x pipe vs all the way at the end in place of the muffler?
It does actually make a slight bit of difference. With the resonators at the rear, they help pick up the rasp before leaving the tail pipes. With them under the car, the system can generate some raspy frequencies as it travels through the rest of the pipe before exiting.
Question for you sir, The 3.7 VQ seems to come pretty well optimized from the factory. Does the custom catback system that you propose affect the optimization in a meaningful way positive or negative?
It pairs nicely with test pipes and a tune. It performs just as well as any system on the market. But the factory catback is really not too bad either.
Hey SCS, I hope all is well. I’m looking at exhausts for my Q50 3.0t AWD and I was thinking about going with the borla x pipe since I don’t want to be super loud though, do you think that if I installed the borla system in reverse that it would work on an AWD Q?
so i am getting a 3.0t but bought everything for the 3.7 because that’s what i had before. will i have to change anything or can i run the same setup and just tell muffler shop to use 3” for all additional tubing? thanks!
It really wouldn’t make sense to use 3” because you’d be shrinking it down to go through the resonators so it sort of defeats the purpose. It’s not really necessary to use 3” either.
Hey thank you for the video! Definitely had to hit the like and subscribe buttons. I have a 2019 Q50 Luxe AWD 3.0T stock and I am going to keep the stock cats. I know you gave the options of eliminating the Borla or the flowfx resonators. If I am looking for a deep tone with minimum drone, that is not obnoxiously loud. What setup do you recommend? With or w/o the flex pipe? Also, it might just be me, but the link for the flanges no longer works. Would I just look for a 2 bolt 2.5" opening flange?
With stock cats, you’d be fine with an x pipe and flowfx resonators. The borla might tone it down too far for you. Flex eliminates vibration so I recommend it. Yes 2 bolt 2.5” flanges. They are selling out quick also anywhere you can find them!
Putting the pieces together to have this setup installed on my 2017 Red Sport. I went to a couple of shops here in Atlanta to get install price quote. 1st quote: $750 2nd quote: $450-$500 “3hrs of work” Apparently I haven’t found a shop that is willing to take on this job.
If i wanted to go the x pipe route… where could i get a resonated x pipe. I have a 2018 3.0t w fast intentions ldp, ams intakes. Forgoing the mid muffler
@@mrbossftw2739 the mid-muffler is a resonated x pipe. Either magnaflow or borla. You won’t find an X pipe with small resonators. It’s just going to be a muffler that has a perforated core in the shape of an X essentially.

Nice video, quick question for ya.. so you would buy everything the same for awd version but could potentially add or not add the 3” xpipe?

I for the 3.0t you may just want to do an x pipe instead of the borla and then the flowfx. If you plan to tune, that’d be my suggestion
how would two flowemaster super 10 series fit with this and leave one valuve open 🤔 aggressive sound?
I'm sure it would be pretty aggressive, but depends on whether or not you have stock cats as well.

Hey SCS, I'm fairly new to this, i have a stock Q50, if i do this setup, could i leave off the borla? And by leaving off the borla will it be louder? Thanks!
With the 3.0t yes you can leave the borla out and just use an x pipe. It’ll sound nice and allow for some nice performance
I have this setup and I’m looking to quote it down a little. Would you recommend adding another set of resonators?
Yes that will work

Just a little more rasp so some think it’s a bit more aggressive

Sounds good , would Inman muffler be able to do this? Also would I need a tune ? What setup of these would recommend? I have awd also
They definitely can and no tune necessary for the catback
If i’m getting the 3inch magnaflow then that means I don’t need the 2.5 inch flanges then?
You’ll still want flanges. Most downpipes are still 2.5” so those flanges will still work
Hey SPCS I’m really interested in getting your custom exhaust setup put on my 2018 AWD Q50 I was planning on goin with the 3” setup as I want to get the vehicle tuned in the future.
What exact setup will be good for hp after installing my fulldownpipe catless and tuning
Get tuned after the catback is installed, obviously, but if you’re going for max hp, go all 3” pipe. X pipe instead of the borla out to 3” flowFX resonators near the tail pipes
can i do fast intentions ldp 2.5", with an upgraded 3" all the way also 3" x pipe? Will 3" flanges fit my 2.5" ldp?
Yes
it would be a difference if place those flowmaster fx at very end? and you have any raspy between 2300 -2500 rpm?
What do you mean at the very end? They are pretty much at the end, so you wouldn’t notice any difference. With res test pipes there may be a touch of drone at about 1900-2100 rpm

I just suggest the magnaflow-it is essentially a resonated x pipe. But if you’re in a 3.0t, I don’t know that a resonated x is necessary.
So should I go with a normal x pipe or should I just true dual echaust to the 2 resonator’s ?
@@xYrnAntx personally, I would do a normal x pipe-but a good one, not a stamped echo chamber-and flowfx resonators. Turbo cars tend to be quieter so the big mid muffler isn’t as important

It seems to work best in reverse order for awd cars. Shops are scared to install it as designed, but it’s fine. If you’re looking for an aggressive sound, maybe just go with a plain x pipe and flowfx resonators. The borla may tone it down too much for your liking.

Thanks so much!! Should I also be looking to purchase the tips separately as well?
