It is such a weird hybrid throwing the Ballad of the Windfish into the intro, main tune of Gannondorf's Tower, the main theme they use for the series, and Zelda's Lullaby.
@@AimlessSavant I personally think it represents something or even things to come. Ganon's tower signifies the evil in place, Zelda's Lullaby signifies how she is trying to fight and stop Ganon from escaping, resulting in the descruction of the entire world, and the main theme is signifying bith Link's bravery and courage for coming - with originally nothing - to fight off the beast that is Ganon. And Ballad of the Windfish signifies how Link is awakening - this is no mere dream. This is the final showdown. The whole song seems to show this though.
Candy Garnet I could've sworn I read somewhere that the arrangements that were chosen were intentionally made to mimic the arrangement restrictions of the original 8 bit music. I wish I could find the article
It's great to hear 8-bit music created within the limitations of the time (the NES in this case), so many "8-bit" covers have layers upon layers of sound and it sounds nothing like what you'd have gotten.
Definitely my favorite track from the game. Most of the music in this game is for ambiance, and it really surprised me to hear such epic music out of nowhere the moment I got near the castle (I actually didn't expect it to be a dungeon, at least not the outside of it). If anything, this track gives me Hideout Helm vibes, which is about as great as it can get.
Yeah, it makes the atmosphere feel heroic, tragic and making the castle feel so big and grand and this music hides two songs (well the songs I recognize) Zelda's lullaby and the main theme of the series and it makes so much sense because the main theme of the series is basically Link's theme and Zelda's lullaby is her theme so it makes sense because Link and Zelda are fighting Ganon. So it's a genius theme for the castle.
I mean, it was apparent in the game's orchestral mix, but it's undeniable with this sound font. Such a bizarre choice for this part of the game, but I'm not going to complain about LA getting some love.
This song (exterior of the castle) and the song inside the castle are both a combinaison from differents Zelda Themes. The begining of the song is cleary a reference to Ballade of the Windfish. You have also differents Ganon themes, and Link theme. A lot of song in the game have some calls from the past Zelda games ^^ (sorry for bad english i'm french) ^^
could it be, that the big whale skelletons in breath of the wild are the ones from windfishes ? couldnt think about where else they could come from ... cause there arent any oceans nearby them
Nicholas Collins The skeletons are called "Leviathan Skeletons" and there are giant whale creatures in Skyward Sword called Levias. The skeletons are probably the corpses of Levias'.
Just some thoughts from someone who's been watching your vids for a while. I really liked the 8bit art you used to use, seems waste to have them just on the thumbnail. I also know you like this display thing. Just wondering if theres any way to combine these visuals with the thumbnail art? I think using the same display for each vid makes them a little less distinct.
Thanks for the advice Goomba! I agree that I should change the visuals to differentiate my videos. I'm going to experiment a bit so expect new visuals soon!
Loeder remember that simplicity is also very good. i personally think your work is perfect as it is, but experiment i'd like to see your work grow along with you!
Wow, right in the childhood. Thank you, those onions needed dicing. Seriously though, this not only captures the music of the NES-era *perfectly*, but being the new Hyrule Castle music, embodies the feeling of all the hard work and effort put into getting to the 8th dungeon in Zelda and Thunderbird's Castle in Zelda 2(a *much* harder feat). This is perfection.
Just found this video. This, unlike many other 8-bit remixes, actually seems possible to replicate on an NES without the Castlevania 3 or Sunsoft chips. Well done.
THANKS FOR 1000+ SUBSCRIBERS!! Thats a lot of people with good music taste! Also thanks for the positive feedback and requests. I am going to do as much BOTW songs as possible, but some songs might take some more time to perfect. Thank you and enjoy!
It's amazing how much music can influence our emotions. For example, when I was roaming through Hyrule castle, this song always gave me this feeling... I don't know how to describe it, but it gave me the sense that exploring the castle was the beginning of the end of the game. It also caused a LOT of unease. But I love it still, just for the experience that it gave me and how well it worked with the game atmosphere.
it really is impressive that you can break down orchestrated music into 8-bit like you do. hearing songs in this format really allows the melody to shine, as well as pick up all the juicy easter eggs nintendo left in there.
That's kind of like the test game they created to test out new concepts before actually implementing them into the real game. Basically Breath of the Wild but in the style of the original 8-bit Legend of Zelda.
I'm not sure if it had cooking, but from what they showed to us, it seemed to have a lot of stuff in the actual game, because each concept would likely have to pass through this test game before making it into the final game. I HAD A FEELING THAT THIS WAS BREATH OF THE WILD THANK YOU SO MUCH WGOEVER CREATED THIS 8-BIT THEME I LOVE BOTW AND YOU DESERVE DOUBLE OF WHAT YOU HAVE
It's so heavy, with a great sense of building tension and then bits of heroic flourish that really tell the story of the ascent to the final battle. A wonderful track and an excellent, faithful recreation of it here. Well done!
I don't know what I like more about your videos, the actual music or just watching the little bars go across the screen. It's really fun to look at for some reason
dont stop your killing all these!!!! truly great my wife walked down the aisle to Zelda theme from the orchestra cd so we both truly appreciated this!!!
Sounds epic in the game. Still pretty epic in 8-bit! This is an amazing Hyrule Castle, favorite for sure!! You've done amazing work here and in your other videos as well!
I would love to see an 8-bit game with the soundtrack composed by you. This piece gave me nostaliga overdose. Keep up the fantastic work. Supportive fish man (Prince Sidon) would be proud of you.
I have absolutely fallen in love with your 8-bit versions of BotW music. I could easily imagine these being part of an actual 8-bit game. Absolutely amazing work on these!
reguardless of the limits of a nes this is literally perfect considering, at least in my eyes. it keeps that epic theme the castle had as well as stays in the way of the nes. I wish I could have a game with this song in it.
I believe it came out as well as it did, since its a homage to every past Zelda game with the way the tune went. You can literally hear the 8/16 bit nostalgia from the days of Zelda's past.
I love how Zelda's Lullaby briefly pops into this tune (didn't hear it in this cover but I could swear it happens occasionally in the original), as you're busy fighting for your life it hops in and reminds you what you're fighting for, it's so good ;_;
This is amazing. I don't even know what my 6 year old mind would have done if I heard this the first time I ever fired up an NES, or a few years later firing up a Game Boy. It sounds so good in 8 bit.
Love this, just one thing. I kinda wish that you could see the noise track playing the drums. but now I really want to hear a version of this where you go ham instead of just limiting yourself to the 3(4) sound channels of real 8 bit hardware.

I think this one came out so nicely because most of the Leitmotifs used in the original theme originated as 8-bit music in older Zelda games.

Hearing this song in 8bit form really highlights how close it is to the Ballad of the Wind Fish
Cause it is
listen to this at 2x playback. it sounds awesome!
