in today's video we will be taking a look at the most recent updated firmware from anbernic for the amazing RG35XX H have to say you was all right in the fact the high end emulation performance has definitely increased somewhat, but sadly for me some of the 8bit and 16bit still has a bit of giter on the screen...not a massive biggie but once you notice it you can't stop seeing it but overall very impressive.

I'm waiting for Knulli before I try Botocera. Been happy with Stock (modded) especially the latest update. Machine is a wee powerhouse.
It definitely is, not perfect but a solid device man,
@@SonicLoveEmulation for sure. In my experience there is no perfect handheld (GBA SP, 3DS XL and Vita have come close) but part of their charm is their imperfections. The H is my first emulation handheld since the GP2X and man have things changed 18 years.

Awesome video, thanks for demonstrating the enhancements.
Not a problem
I've got this FW and it's brilliant only gripe is it's a little
slow when you turn on and off, hopefully we will get another soon.
Definitely agree man and let's hope it's soon
Looks like the performance was superb! I just have a couple issues:
No box art or preview videos? Their stock firmware on the RG353P allows it. Sometimes I’ll forget the name of a game and then see a screenshot or video and remember what it was.
59.1 GB download from Wet Transfer? I’ve tried downloading this 15 times so far and it always seems to stop half way or so and resuming doesn’t help because the download token expires after a certain time.
Does anybody have this update somewhere else, maybe broken up into parts LIKE THEIR LAST update was??
@@Cyko.. I did email them to ask whe the 16gb download of just the firmware will be available but they have not got back to me yet
Nice video man! i hope u make time to test "virtual on cyber troopers" from Sega Saturn, thx ❤
See what I can do man
Hey Sonic! I was wondering about those slim fingerless gloves like the ones you wear in some of your videos (like in your Miyoo Mini Plus vs RG35XX one). Would love to get a recommendation from you. 😮
I get mine from Amazon most of the time or if I am out and about in shops in the winter and pick some up...that's about it really
Bought myself a black one and this closeup of yours is giving me buyer's remorse. Now I only wish the Stock OS UI looked as good as the R36S (which I'm going to sell with a heavy weight in my heart. Only got the RG35XX H because it was U$ 40).
I know I was very tempted to get the black version as well, and the os is good on the rg35xx h just sadly not very customizable
@@SonicLoveEmulation I think it's still better that I bought the black version, it doesn't draw as much attention of people who may want to steal it (I live in Brazil).

I have not felt anything odd with the controls so I assume so
Great video! Thanks for the information.
Not a problem buddy
It's our man, Sonic Love, back again!
Hey man, thanks for the support good sir
Great video. Most of the games are you running them from the Gameroom section or the RA Game section or launching them directly from RA? Do you notice any performance between the two since one is standalone emulator and other is retroarch Emily tor
I have not done a direct comparison yet but I usually use the RA direct
The emulators in the game room are not good and lack many features RA has. Stick to RA
@@Farlon303 yes definitely
God dreamcast gotta look sick on this, since it's a native 480p render on a native 480p screen.
I would get the RG CubeXX or the RG 40XX over this one...much better....still from ambernic and same chip set.
@@SonicLoveEmulation Thanks for the recommendation, will look into them.
@CounterPunchGames not a problem
Nice vid! Idk why dreamcast games are not working on my RG35xxH, I mind i downloaded the roms (.zip) files and move those file to the dreamcast folder, it shows the game controller on my stock game room but it don execute it 🙃
Mine too😔
Did it not come with roms already on it? Take the SD card out put it in the PC on the listing of emulator folders to put roms in....have a look for a folder called roms....open that folder and another list of game folders should pop up but the dreamcast cast games in there. Then put the SD card back in the rg35xx h and try it again. If that dose not work try it with extracting the dreamcast files and adding them. If that fails its the bios not working, you would have to Google that, hope this helps and let me know how you got on with it.
Have a look at the reply to the question and let me know if it works
Dreamcast games must be in GDI, CDI or CHD format. Zip or another extension wont work. Just unzip them, e see what format it will be. I Recomend CHD file format, because it will save some space, and also you dont loose content like CDI that its compacted. Bin, cue should work fine too.
@@MrLUCASRX5 this works!
Would love a video with more and longer Saturn gameplay.
I will see if I can fit one in man
But Sega saturn is definitely not very good on the rg35xx h
@@SonicLoveEmulation I think I get my hopes up every time I see Saturn running on one of these really affordable well reviewed handhelds. I can't even get a great video of if the Saturn specfic 6 face button handheld runs Saturn great. I mostly play Saturn and there are only about 10 games I really NEED analog for but they're also the kind of games where if I don't have great emulation performance I wouldn't even bother.
@@caseyhayes4590 have checked out my Sega saturn video on the RG ARC S?

Personally I would go with chd but I would definitely go for Europe roms but I do like the rg35xx h loads
Thank you for testing! Looks smooth
Yeah man very impressive
Not sure if you are aware, but the firmware number is the actual date of its release(not public release) ie this was released April 9th(2024-04-09).
I believe they release an updated version every month or two, so hopefully a new update will drop soon.
Yeah I knew that man but definitely be nice to have a new update need to nave Sega Saturn stand alone emulator and another core for Saturn in RA

Can this play Phantasy Star Online or the v2 version on Dreamcast?
For a 12 yr old, is the firmware update mature enough? or is it still too buggy? I just got this in today along with a new micro ssd card. Im literally with both items wondering what my first move should be. I was going to flash anbernics micro sdd to new one and then decide from there if i wanted to update firmware or just try going with a different custom OS instead of the original. im just looking for the more polished and user friendly option for thr kiddo.
I would go with the most updated stock os from anbernic there has actually been another update even though I just did a video on the last one, it adds more emulators and more stability to ppsspp
Nice! Im torn bt this and the 28xx
Have you checked out the new one it's releases on the 17th it's called the RG35XXSP might want to check it out also. It's the same specs but in a game boy sp clam shell design looks cool

A little while ago I bought a RG35XX H from amazon (it was briefly on sale) but I couldn't get the device to charge. Even after attempting to charge it for several hours it would turn on but then immediately a red light came on and the battery indicator was showing as almost empty? Is there a way to solve that issue? I'd really like to know
(I returned it to amazon as being defective for a refund but maybe I'll buy another in the future if it's ever on sale again)
I have something similar to this but it was with the Retro Mini. Its Nokia battery will only charge halfway as shown by the battery icon but when I put the battery on a Nokia phone the phone will detect it as 100% charge. You know, the Retro Mini, the one that came with GBA games only. Many moons ago.
What's a shame, that happed to me with the arc D handheld very frustrating indeed. But it just a bad device ot can happen. But it's happens more than you think.
Yeah, I have a lot of handhelds and about half of them came with battery issues(!)🤣
Mine did that, too. You have to take the back off it and unplug/reconnect the battery. It will start charging after that. I only had to do that the one time when I first got it, it's been fine since.
I was thinking about how the PS1 - DC gen just hits different, and i couldnt exactly place why that was until for some reason i was thinking about MTG and the "aha" hit me.
Modern gaming feels like when the pros "solve" the MTG standard format.
Everything is so safe and calculated with seemingly only minor tweaks and when something outlandish does happen (like a baulders gate 3 or elden ring) its almost like an accident.
Where as the early 3D era was so experimental like when a new magic format catches on.
Its really sad. Not just beacsue the creativity has been gone for so long, but the "safe road" isnt even a quality experience and if games are going to cost this much and be shit, they might as well just cut the pom and circumstances and go back to when gaming was fun.
will it run final fantasy 7 on ps1 where you had multiple disks?
Yes it can
Just ordered mine.
You will love it, what color did you go for
