    I love the fact that you realize how insane getting his arm back is. Just think about the implication, Greed Island as a whole, just speaks a lot of Ging, and where he currently stands in the world.

    I've seen very good analysis about how Genthru uses manufactured insanity to make sure he always gets the upper hand in a negotiation, but he doesn't know how to react when confronted to someone like Gon who's genuinely everything he pretends to be himself.
    A funny thing I always like pointing out, is that Genthru and his team were fucked no matter what. The Nen exorcist needs to clear the Nen beast and the troupe is ready to accept any condition to hire him. That means that if Genthru's team had beaten Gon's team, they would have been slaughtered by Hisoka and the Phantom Troupe the second they're ending the game (since Hisoka is negotiating with the exorcist around that time). Taking a Rock to the gut might have just saved Genthru's life.

      It's not 'manufactured insanity' ...for people who play it safe, you don't need much to appear insane. Whoever is willing to go further than the other will be the more insane.

    • @Arkayjiya
      @Arkayjiya 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@emanueladadarlat3159 Of course it is. His talk of insanity is a rational choice. Therefore by *definition* it's manufactured insanity.
      "for people who play it safe, you don't need much to appear insane"
      You've literally just proved my point by showing how that fake insanity is a rational choice for Genthru. Therefore it's manufactured.

    • @emanueladadarlat3159
      @emanueladadarlat3159 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Arkayjiya When you say 'manufactured' it feels like saying he fakes his insanity, which is not the case. He is simply willing to go further than the other.... yet it is not just a bluff, he is actually making a choice to go that far.
      .
      Also, the 'being insane' is a matter of perception. It has less to do with the one 'playing insane' and everything to do with the one perceiving it as such .....reason for which bluffing insanity would unlikely get the desired result, being flimsy and un-insane-like. Not the real thing. Not intimidating at all.
      So again, Genthru is not just bluffing, thus I would not call his insane manufactured.

    • @Arkayjiya
      @Arkayjiya 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@emanueladadarlat3159 Of corse he fakes it. He's lying about being insane. As you say he's merely willing to go further than his opponents. That's not insanity.
      At most he's a psychopath, and psychopathy is a personality disorder, not a mental disorder so not insane. And he's not even really the case as he has empathy for his friends so he's not even a psychopath.
      He's just a piece of shit who goes around calling himself insane because it makes other people more likely to agree to what he says. Essentially he's a bully, that's not insanity.
      As opposed to what you say, it is a bluff. You're confusing all he does with insanity. Most of what he says isn't a bluff, but it's not insanity either so that's not supporting your point. The insanity specifically however is a bluff. If it wasn't, he would not have tried to surrender to Gon at the very end. Gon called his bluff and won thanks to that.
      If Genthru had truly been insane and unable to be reasoned with, he would have tried to use countdown on Gon the moment he was about to get hit with Rock to ensure mutually assured destruction.
      Instead, Genthru chose to surrender because that was the most rational option available to him. Because he's not insane, he's rational, he's perfectly mentally healthy.

      @@Arkayjiya Meanwhile, Gon needlessly risks his entire life to land a single hit on Genthru, to "give him a good scare."

    Gon is so selfish, but only in the sense that he wants to do things his way. He is simultaneously super kind and will give it all for his dear friends.

    notice how Gon continues to not be truly punished for his selfish behaviour, between the Hanzo fight, Canary fight, escaping Nobunaga in Yorknew, the Dodgeball game, and now this. It's really interesting to me, this portrayal of the purity of a child in such a negative light.

    • @_NickSF_
      @_NickSF_ 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +27

      Tbf in most of these he got beat tf up, but what would be a very harsh punishment for others only act as a fuel for Gon. He's very hard to control, he's stubborn, selfish and has little self preservation, so not everyone knows how to make him feel guilty.

      This is why when people say “but he doesnt learn” as a criticism, I facepalm. That’s the POINT. Not every character has to adhere to the generic coming of age/hero formula.

    • @Jirodyne
      @Jirodyne 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Indeed. Everyone says they love Gon, that he's a great character, and that he is good.
      But he isn't good at all. He is very selfish, evil, and a badly written character.

    • @Qrinity
      @Qrinity 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +21

      > badly written?
      Throughout the story, it shows Gon's descent into darkness because of his abandonment issues, simplistic animalistic nature of how he perceived good and bad, using and abusing people to complete his goals if he's locked in. That is such a great way to subvert expectations of the mc and his luck will soon run out hopefully be greatly punished for it.
