Damn, you're stopping Doctor Who ? I've never watched the serie but there was something complete about seing you pushing throught all those episodes throught the years. Can't complain thought if it means you'll be having more time for other series. I definitely want to see what you'll think about Hunter x Hunter next arc, as there is, I think, an interesting progression of the author in his way of writing his story.
Just wanted to drop a comment about your thumbnails. I'm a designer and I personally really appreciate the layouts and imagery you choose. It's always an impactful moment (and I love your commitment to steering away from blatant spoilers), yet it's always tasteful and artistic. The way you position yourself as well is very intentional. The texture and color grading you apply is just the perfect cherry on top to make it a full thumbnail masterpiece. Whenever you drop a video, I always have to hold back the urge to instantly click so that I can first admire the thumbnail lmao. keep up the fantastic work Im. Yes, this episode is not one of the most favoured by most people, mainly because of many expected this episode to be a direct continuation of the last one, but to me it showcases Togashi's writing in great fashion. I always thought Welfin was an interesting character, but it was in this episode where I really started to love him. The depiction of Welfin's trauma and the fantastic cathartic moment in witch he opens up and says outloud his biggest wish were the two stand out moments of this GREAT episode. Not as action packed as others of this part of the arc, but still a fantastic one.
Well, the manga is actually quite differently paced and the order of events is quite different from the anime. The anime also follows a direction a little big different, not jumping between perspectives as much as the manga does and isolating the segments more instead, which adding that it has no timer, it makes it look like most things happen in succession of each other while many happen at the same time or even before something that was shown before. In the manga for example, the fight does actually continue and the content of 123, 124 and 125 actually happens in the middle of 126 (both in chapter and real time), while Meruem is getting endlessly slapped until he is capable of anticipating to the next move. This gives the impression that their fight didn't last much in the anime while it actually went for around 15-20min. The confrontation itself (122) even starts while Youpi is taking care of Morel's clones instead of after, which is very funny because if you have a good eye, you will see that in the anime, APR magically jumps from 60k to like 200k right in the same scene. Also, the content of ep 124 and 125 is shown before this one, leaving the stakes higher for Ikalgo since Killua already rescued Palm, and it makes very clear too that Pitou's failure with her experiment is what makes Pouf decide to engage Knuckle and leave her to her own fate, since they happen simultaneously. Talking about Palm, this was also kind of a big one that made Im quite confused for what I've seen. In the anime, we see Palm getting caught by Pitou's en back in ep 107 when it returns, but that actually never happens in the manga. The manga scene cuts off as soon as she leaves the elevator, so we really had no idea of what happened to her until Pouf mentions her and we see how it played out next episode, the anime basically spoiled most of the mystery right from the start.
And it’s not a Togashi fault that this episode is so poorly placed even. In manga we saw the end of episode 125 and half of 126 after 122, then switch to end of 123 with Palm reveal, then 124 and and the rest of 125 only after that we saw content of 123 episode and then finally second half of 126. And while I appreciate that the anime made Netero vs Meruem into one episode they also ruined the momentum and placed the order of scenes and episodes very poorly. They should’ve at least show Palm before Ikalgo, that way people would’ve been less upset

I hope if filmbuff decides to read manga he will also read it from the start since anime missed many minor things, has censorship and sometimes has poor pacing and very poor changes
While I was reading this again... I forgot in the manga there is a Timer that indicates the time that has passed. Sadly... they didn't add it in the anime.

I do wonder what Togashi was thinking when designing a wolf wearing a thong and missile launcher that implants centipedes under the skin. I get the wolf, the personality, the core strength of the nen ability where he punishes those who disobey/hurt him while he's remains protected in his closed shell (not telling the truth). I guess the rest falls under "rule of cool" instead of being thematic.
