    As an attorney, there's an exception to this. If you are forced to resign due to discrimination, harassment, or due to some retaliation in response to your lawful whistleblowing activity, please be sure to leave a paper trail of why you're leaving and be sure to have a copy for yourself so that your attorney can use it as an evidence.

    • @respectfullytruthful
      @respectfullytruthful 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I'm going to consult my attorney about this. If my attorney agrees, I'm going to say I'm leaving due to a hostile workplace. That's how the attorney described the workplace in a warning letter. I changed my retirement plans by 2 years because* the managers are stressing me out. I'm not being quiet about anything. Thank you counselor.

    • @sayhoman
      @sayhoman 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@respectfullytruthful now, be mindful that many people misunderstand what "hostile workplace" means. If your boss or coworkers are just *mean* to you, then that alone is not good enough for a lawsuit. However, if they ridicule, mock, harass you based on your race, gender, religion, gender, discrimination, etc, then it may become unlawful. Talk to your lawyer for legal advice.

      @@sayhoman Thank you for the suggestions. I'm currently on FMLA . I fall under a protected class. My attorney is going to assist me with filing an EEOC complaint. I understand I can file myself, but I don't have the emotional bandwidth. I'm on a performance plan, but they never honored any of the accommodations. I'm running the clock down and working on an exit plan. I plan on using as much of the 12 weeks of FMLA, as medically possible. I wish I would have engaged an attorney sooner, but hindsight is 20/20.

      Sounds like my current job. I spent weeks doing nothing in a cold office. They had no training set up before i started. Finally weeks later some half ass training was provided. I soon knew the department wasn’t the right fit. I requested to interview for a different department. Took them a month to set up that interview. Interview was so half ass as well and didn’t get the job. Then yesterday after waiting two weeks to hear back regarding that interview i was forced to voluntarily to resign. They even lied about me saying that i couldn’t handle the volume of the work. When i spent two months doing little to no work. I didn’t bad mouth them. Bc i was waiting for my background to clear on a job at a different company to clear bc giving notice. But the whole experience was such a disappointment. But i also learned about voluntarily resigning and that u dont have to do what they say right away. It was a learning experience and pray to never be seen in this situation ever again. Yet depending on ur situation u need to give these half ass companies a piece of ur mind!!!

    I resigned after 28 years with the same agency after I didn't receive a promotion, I felt I deserved, and I was furious. But I was classy, thanked them and was gracious on my exit interview. Good thing, as I was absolutely miserable in the new position I had accepted. After 18 months, I am returning to my old employer, and I couldn't be happier. I learned a hard lesson that I had a great thing, and I didn't realize it, but I do now. Had I expressed how I was feeling, I would never be able to go back. So grateful I chose to be adult about things when I left.

    I totally agree on the "where going" part. Beyond that, however, you seem to be in one-sided alignment with protecting the feelings of management. Management needs to see what is going on, even if--especially if--it is one (or more) of them being the problem. Now if you want to leave them wallowing in their myopic ignorance, then, by all means, say nothing more.
    Some comments promoted ghosting... quitting with no notice. I cannot recommend that because there are issues around "job abandonment," problems with getting that last paycheck, collecting your last commissions, unused vacation pay, etc. However, a same day... even a same minute... "I quit," must be acceptable in this day of zero company loyalty to employees. Just make sure they know you are leaving. Management has been doling out same-day departures for generations. It is high time that employees reciprocate in kind.

      Hey Bill, I can see how you might think that, but keep in mind you're watching a 53 second video from a 30 minute video. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I don't care about the employer in this case. I simply don't want you to do anything where you need to look over your shoulder. If you resign and give them a couple week and they walk you to the door, at least you did your part. Don't let them provide a bad reference for you in the future!

    This is something I did. I was at a new job after leaving one for 21 years, and this new job I was with for nine months, in December I was told to take my vacation or else I could lose it. So, I carefully planned my vacation to not overstep other other peoples vacation And when I submitted it, my manager said that I couldn’t take those days off she told me she told me what I could takeoff and I that would mean I would have a day and a half off not a week a day and a half so then later that day she held, and I employee meeting discussed new stuff that was going to happen new changes then she closed it by saying please put in your vacation now because your bad planning is not my problem .
    After she finished, I told her I didn’t appreciate that because it seemed aimed towards me. She claimed that it wasn’t but that I should’ve planned ahead I usually don’t take vacations or if I do I am forced to take them because that’s just my work ethic. sometimes these things slip by me so I told her I couldn’t do that and then she tried to dress it up as me helping her by saying we’re gonna need your help because we have to go to Vermont to cut to expand on this business and we need you here to keep the work flowing and help us I said I didn’t appreciate what she did to me as far as negating my vacation and I didn’t like the hours and I guess she got upset and said well you have no other choice so then I told her oh but I do, I went to my computer And wrote a resignation letter stating that I am resigning my position effective immediately I sent it to her. She came running to my department and asked what’s this and I said I officially quit and walked off. That was the best thing I’ve ever done that company was the very worst company I’ve ever worked for , I have never had the experience that I had with that company and all of my working life. It wasn’t worth it. Thankfully I found a job meet immediately after that I really appreciate and they appreciate me.
    All you need to do is submit a resignation as Andy described. You don’t need your not required it’s not a law that you have to give your two weeks notice. If you don’t like the job line, something up and quit line another job up and quit the job you do not like just quit you don’t need to submit two weeks notice no Just submit your quitting by way of email because that in and of itself is just a fit as official bad jobs. Don’t deserve your two weeks notice two weeks notice is basically not burning your bridges. I set a flame my bridges to that company. want nothing to do with that company

    I was actually thinking the same thing. At the end of the day you don't want to burn your bridges. You never know when you might need a job especially in these hard times. Also you want a good reference. References are important. Even if you had serious issues with the employer. Sometimes you got to swallow it, it might benefit you in the long run. Keep it professional. At your future job interviews they might ask why you left your last job. Aside from references you never know who could help you in the future. I have issues with my job and I plan to leave one day. But I'm going to fight the urge to bad talk and I will try to give a good amount of notice. I'm just going to keep it professional. Ya good thing this came up I was thinking that too. And hey despite whatever issues, they employed you, you spent time there etc etc. Sometimes there is a time and purpose for some things, and that time comes to move on. Your future job might call your previous job, you want them to have good things to say. As for telling them where you are going. Well I got to think about that. Well, if you're not required to then I guess its not really necessary. If anything just say you are going on disability or going to a different location or some excuse. I mean, most or some people move on at some point in their lives, they know that, its expected.

    No feedback what they did wrong is necessary. It's not explanation self. It's showing them why you left and what wasn't working on their side. But it depends how you write it.

    What if they ask if you got a new job and where are you going to ..and if I don’t want tell them .. I usually apply in a niche set of employers and they all are in same platforms (they can reach out to each other if they want to even if they don’t know them). How do I politely refuse their question that where I am going to ?

    Customary time.
    Wheres the customary time when they fire you though?
    Double standards in the work place are ridiculous. A future employer contacting a past employer when you've been at the last job for over a year is ridiculous! These double standards are BS and eveyone knows it.

    Question! I’m at a company where I am very unsatisfied. I’m getting ready to leave so this video came at the perfect time. I know it’s customary to give a two weeks notice but I also know they wouldn’t give me the same courtesy if the situation was reversed. Should I give two weeks or a different timeframe? Love your videos (:

      To ease your mind, there’s no requirement to it is courteous. If you don’t plan to work there or need a reference quit and keep moving. I would still write a formal letter of email and have it state your last day is that day as you’re leaving. Set your out of office auto apply state the same details as your letter. You don’t owe them, it is at will agreement. They are no longer serving you. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    Well what if you have to quit because you can no longer do the job physically like you were able to do because you injured yourself when you weren't on the job? I am on medical leave right now and I was set to come back to work in February but I'm still in a bad shape. I told my boss that when I get better I can do everything else except for climbing ladders and he said that if I can't climb ladders then it doesn't want me to work until I am 100% better. Even though I have gotten a little bit better, I am still not able to climb ladders. So I came to the conclusion that it would just be better for me to quit because I can't really do the job anyway and I need to put my mental and physical health first. I want to tell the truth but at the same time I don't want to burn Bridges. My stepdad says that he thinks that my job is trying to get rid of me or has already gotten rid of me because I can't climb ladders and had to miss a long time of work even though I handed them a doctor's note saying that I was injured and that I couldn't go back until February but I don't think I am nowhere near ready to go back. So the best thing for me is to just quit and either just hope that I can come back in the future when I truly am better or find a less physical job.

    You don't have to give them any notice if you don't want to, you can if you want to, but you don't have to because you're employer. Don't give you a 2 weeks' notice when you fire as it does it, so you don't have to give him deadly or her deadly or then deadly, are it Dilly whatever they want to be recognized? As you know, it's used to conduct, say I know people like quit. They don't even tell you they just stop showing up for work. So you eat a figure they have passed away, are they quick?😊😊😊😊😮

  • @Sterling2016

    Since when is it customary to give a 2-weeks notice? I've never seen any company give an employee 2-weeks notice. Nope. They just fire you on the spot. So I never give them a 2-weeks notice. When it's time for me to go, I just ghost 'em.

  • @jeffreylincoln8851

    You know what you're not even required to give it to you notice, it's not a law, and those jobs won't give you a 2-week notice when they fire you. End of discussion

    I started a job a year ago after the last firm I worked for when under. I loved my last job but the new firm is making me Ill. Saying that I have had people ask me to work with them and clients asking me to move over to their firm. I have only been at this firm just over a year and I don’t want to damaged my CV. WhenI started the entire previous team had either left or were working their notice. A shortly after starting I had a hospital pass of a project which I could see going wrong in advance and I was forced into doing it and it caused me to burn out and nearly go to the dr to get signed off sick. When do I leave this job?

    If it was a good company with good leaders but they couldn't maybe pay more because of insufficient funds I would disclose with them with no problems but if its a company being runned by narcissists who treat you like a dog and try to flex on you, I would just quit and leave in silence.
