Great Road, drove it today, (by accident to avoid the slow traffic on the main route) it is super smooth and has great sight lines. Keep a look out for the sheep as they seem happy to sit on the edge of the road.

Quite a drop on the left as you climb up out of Llangynog and hairpin bend as you drop down to Bala. If coming from Bala make sure your brakes are ok going down towards Llangynog or prepare for your wings. Interesting fun run in wintertime

The B4391 is such an underrated road. The section between Llangynog and Bala is currently my favourite stretch of road I've driven.

Nice landscape, I like remote moorland, but disappointed by the lack of Heather, which the moorlands of Scotland and to a lesser degree Northern England have in abundance. Overgrazing by sheep perhaps?

I live near Denbigh driving a Caterham 7, and of all the roads I've driven in north Wales, this is my perfect road. It's wide enough to be very safe at speed, loads of very fast bends, perfect road surface, great long distance visibility, very very quiet through remote countryside with great views and with few inhabitants so no danger to others. what's not to love! Way better than the Evo triangle imho.
I get here via b4501 ( another almost as great road) all the way from home to the boring old A4212 (fast A road but so what...) then turn of to ecstasy of b4391.
I am a lucky lucky man that I have such an hour of perfect enervating Caterham motoring excitement on my doorstep.

@Blackporsche roadster I am very jealous of the amazing roads near you. For me it's a 5 hour drive!

This is the back road from Blaenau.
Most motorists use the main A4212 from Trawsfynydd, as its a much faster and quicker route towards Bala.
That's why the B4391 is usually very quiet, as there are quicker ways for the locals to get to Bala.
Unlike the Cerigydridion to Ruthin EVO Triangle, the B4391 has not received the attention of speeding motorists, so there is never any police activity, and there's certainly no speed camera vans along its stretch.

I just hope that those who drive stupidly fast don't ruin this road, like they have the Evo Triangle.

Bit of a mic issue on the camera. You can just hear the engine with the volume up very loud!

Scared of heights. That was the reason I drove from Brighton to Snowdon this weekend. To conquer it... I did not know about this road!! At night, wet in an Mr2.. My God several times during the journey I had to stop to psyhe myself up.. Middle Lane at times people overtaking me whilst I done 5 miles an hour.. Didn't know this was a famous road and meant to be one of the best roads in the UK.. Going back today and going to go this way back during the day. Hopefully I'm more confident now after seeing this. Thanks.

there are a number of roads that scare the Sh out of me, but travel them in pretty much the same way you have to conquer my fear, I think the higher seating position in a berlingo or dispatch makes it worse.

You must be a bit more adventurous.
Try the Tregaron to Abergwesyn mountain road, or the Cwmystwyth to Rhayader road passing the top end of the Elan Reservoir or my favourite, the mountain road from Staylittle to Machynlleth where the road falls away on both sides on little more than a single track road.

Been there done them, videos are on the channel. The Abergewsyn mountain road is fun, but too blind and narrow for full commitment.

The ground is rarely parched in wet Wales but for the most part changes from green to brown during winter.

    • @davidkeel

we only really have a hard shoulder on our Motorways. A Motorway is the equivalent of what the Americans call the Highway.
