    One of the best drum brake videos I've seen. Something that was shown to me in the last few years from a GM mechanic of 30+ years is using high temp brake grease when installing new brake shoes. At the 14:54 mark in your video you'll notice 6 raised "pads" on the backing plate. These are spots that GM recommends high temp brake grease since the back side of the brake shoes are constantly rubbing against them. Also, he pointed out that you need grease at the top pivot point where the tops of the shoes ride. One other spot he mentioned is the self-adjuster needs grease on the threads and opposite side pivot dowel so it moves freely. Keep up the great work!

      You're right! I should have added some high temp grease on there 🤦‍♂️ thank you for watching 🔥 💯

    I can't comprehend the amount of time, money, and agitation this short video has saved me now. I'm very appreciative of this, as I learn to fix things on my 86 monte carlo ss. Thank you for putting this video on here, it's saved me hours, maybe even days of frustration to get the clip not only off, but on as well. Huge shout out to you

    After watching your video again (to make I understood your directions) I went out and assembled the brakes on my 83 Caprice in about an hour - after fighting with them for about 3 hours and nearly blowing my top. Thank you, again, for the easy to understand - with pictures - step by step process.

    Outstanding video. You made the clip holding on the cylinder look easy! I am going to put some grease on the backing plate hits the shoes and will use some never sieze on the adjuster threads.

    • @StillStandingGarage
      @StillStandingGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 🤝.. I was thinking of adding some grease on the backing plate too, but after some research I found that mechanics were saying that the grease creates an area for brake dust to collect. This is why I didn't add any. Thank you for watching 👊💯

    As someone that has never NEVER done their own brakes (me), you make it look easy. This is very informative and helpful. I'm definitely saving this video. And by the clean Regal. Is that an 82ish? My aunt had one when I was a kid, always wanted one and still do, but I got a 78 Cadillac Coupe. You got videos on how to do front brakes ? I haven't gone thru all your vids yet. Thanks.

      No problem. I'm glad the video helped you 💯 and that's bad ass that you're passing on the car to your daughter. My motor is rebuilt, so I'm just making sure it's running right. I rebuilt it back in '05 and parked it about '09. I started working on it again around 2 or 3 years ago. So, I'm pretty much dressing it up and upgrading things here and there as I go. I have videos on thr things I've done in it. Check them out 💪💯

      @@StillStandingGarage I don’t know if I wanna go with like a Lowrider build or like a hot rod build like because it has a 350 in it small block V8 because I live in San Bernardino 29 palms so there’s a lot of dirt out here so I don’t think hydraulics would be the best for it
