What I love about Confrontation is how quickly the veneer of humble supplicant gets peeled off of Valjean. He starts off seeming so repentant, accepting the guilt of his crimes and willing to surrender, but once Javert digs in, Valjean's rage comes through. He doesn't feel he's done anything wrong and he is sick of Javert and the system chasing him. He didn't seek this fight but he's ready for it.
Not only are both singers awesome, but the way they coordinate is phenomenal; in every other version I've heard, the lyrics are a confusing mess unless I focus on one of them, then replay it to focus on the other. The timing here is good enough that I can actually follow both of them in the same playthrough, which is pretty incredible.
First time I heard this was my first time ever hearing Les Mis at all - about 9-10 yrs ago. I thought what the hell is this? Then my musical loving daughter told me it was one of her favorite parts of the show...Many listens later I have to agree. Looks very difficult as well. I've only watched this 11,000 times now. Just got to see the US tour the other day. Fantastic!
Son of a fortune teller (Mother) and father serving in the prison galley. He basically grows up hating the situations he was born in and dedicates himself to the law out of hatred for his childhood Fun Fact: Javert is his only name. I don't think they specify if it's his first or last, but that's the only name he knows. He has no other name. I also believe that he's just doin his job in The Brick. He just happens to run into Valjean several times.
This is the best rendition. The singing is on point, the flow is perfect, the emotion is so raw. In other versions, they're normally too slow where it feels like they removed the urgency and intensity of what is supposed to be a life and death moment for ValJean as well as a moment of utter rage and hatred for Javert. The 10th Anniversary was just too toned down for this and the movie didn't capture the intensity due to Jackman and Crow's monotone voices (even with a sword fight going on).
Hate Free Palestine casually Caucasian guilt dumping on Baby Mila even though she don't inderstand Caucasian and they don't speak English, Spanish or Russian

Norm Lewis is extraordinary Javert
Him voice is extremely strong and beautiful
I can’t listen to other versions their voices are so phenomenal
Ugh right? He definitely gives Javert that “fuck around and find out” energy
The best!!!!
#1 GOAT
For the first time did such a portrayal of Javert intimidate me
The "You know nothing of Javert / I was born inside a jail" line makes me want to read the whole book just to know the backstory of Javert. XD

Alot of people prefer Quast...but Norm has that booming, authorative voice i think is prefer for Javiet.
Love Javert casually trauma dumping on JVJ

Like damn Muhammad it's ok to be white/Caucasian.

Definitely the best rendition I've seen.
One of my favourite moments in the whole musical.
During the main part of the song the lower strings remind me of some type of alarm or warning sound it adds so much to the tension here
Picture this being played while Yugi and Kaiba duel.
This is def my fave version!
