  • Now that the drums are all apart, I can start the sanding. This was a lengthy process and still have more to do off camera. Once you begin there is no turning back. Follow along as I work through the years of dirt to finally reveal what lies beneath it all. This is part 2 of my process to save a vintage Gretsch drum kit.

    A tip I've taken from a luthier. If you want to remove paint, vanish, don't use sandpaper right away. Start with a sharp scraper. You'll remove coats faster and less expensively. One you reach wood you can start with medium/fine sandpaper.

    Next time try stripp eze,save you a hole lot of time getting off that old finish.

    There was so much polyurethane on that thing
