Pretty cool. What I did was to replace the allen head bolts at the inside ends of the handlebars with longer ones that hold on RAM balls that are counterbored. I have the left side ball holding a double ended arm that holds my wireless charging phone holder and the other has a binder clip tie wrapped to it that holds toll money and when parked, holds my glasses. I figured I'd just do both sides, with the intention of keeping my options open and maybe someday put a tablet between them so I have a map that very easy on older eyes that seem to grow more dim by the day. Who knows? Maybe we'll accidentally meet up somewhere on a run. That would be cool. Anyway, cool idea and keep riding and stay safe.
Not much to see, really, but I would post a pic if I knew how. (LOL). I'm old enough to do what I do but to old to bother learning all this computer stuff.
@@tonycarthan6425 I ended up doing what you did (different spacers, same effect). The bolt is an M10 1.5 thread pitch. The Ram Mount M10 bolt/ball combo WILL NOT WORK as it is M10 1.25. Menards (regional Home Depot type place in my neck of the woods) had the bolt in stainless along with some stainless washers and some nylon spacers. I'll add a "cover piece" like you did eventually. Thx for the vid.
@@tonycarthan6425 I should have mentioned I used the Ram Quick-Grip instead of the X-Grip.... one handed operation and no need for the extra security of the rubber strap thing.

Thanks for the response. I would love to see a picture of your install.

What was the size of the bolt?
Sorry I don’t know the diameter and pitch. The guys at the shop matched it up so likely any BMW dealer will know.
@@tonycarthan6425 thx. I'm going to try a fork stem adapter but if that doesn't work I'll try this.

@@mikeb8342, Outstanding Mike and thanks for the bolt specifications. I am sure the rest of the viewers will benefit from that information.
