    I did the same swap on my '22 Q3 from the APR cold air intake to the APR open element carbon fiber intake. The sounds are so much better!

    After having this installed on my 7.5 GTI, the car rarely runs temperature wise over 95C. My wife's 2 litre turbo Passat runs at about 107C in the same conditions. I also swear my aircon is more effective. Not sure why.

    I’m very interested in seeing the IATs. i’ve seen multiple tests where the stock airbox with a high flow filter, snow grate removed, and the grill cut out, flows the best and shows the lowest iats. i guess intakes are cool for sound, but imo they’re a waste of money on these cars.

    • @Shawzlbot
      @Shawzlbot 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      agree! At the end of the day these companies need to make as many products they can to sell! Hence why there’s all these pipes to buy and carbon stuff. It’s more for show in my opinion

      Totally get where you're coming from man. I'm usually big on looking at the data/numbers, in this case for where I'm at on the build this was more so for fun. Had a tough time with exhaust on this car so more induction noise is a consolation at this point haha I gotcha man.

      understandable man, I totally get it... It really comes down to what's important to you. In my opinion neither intake will net huge power gains. some guys need the numbers others it is more about the sound. For me it's just about having fun! LOL :)

    Looking to getting stage 1+ from unitronic on my 2020 s3, saw some of your comments that intake isnt necessary? More on just the sounds? Because on their site it says their carbon fiber intake system with air duct is recommended, but it cost almost a grand lol, while the stage 1+ tune is 600$

  • @itsJayru
    @itsJayru 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think this intake was definitely more of a gimmick vs being made for performance. The big air filter really only does so much especially when it tapers down to an inlet the size apr’s so it’s hard to believe this intake gives more airflow like what they’re saying... iat’s are really only going to be affected by the intercooler so I think this is solely made for noise. Looks great nonetheless lol

    • @willf1118
      @willf1118 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It definitely improves airflow but since its under the hood it just ends up sucking in more hot air and decreases performance as the car gets to operating temp, a properly routed cold air intake outside of the hood is were you see the real benefits however then you worry about rain and debris, stock closed intakes under the hood work much better then open air intakes under the hood
