- December 2021 I was invited to the Scania Demo Centre in Södertälje to test drive the new Scania Super truck! And I also had time to test other vehicles!
I will never forget this epic day!
I used 3 cameras to shoot this video and it took some time to edit it all together. I hope you like it!

Hi Cassie, that looked like a great day and a lot of fun trying those new trucks. I had to laugh when you kept going for the parking brake. Where I used to work we had Scania and M.A.N. One had the brake on the dash, the other down besides the seat. As you can imagine his was confusing at times. Stay safe out there. 😎🇬🇧

Ive yet to drive a Scania ,driven nearly everything else over the past 15+years except them. I heard they were as smooth to drive as a car.
What a wonderful opportunity to spend the day learning about the new range and getting to drive a selection of various types of the new range, the effects of the electric truck and bus are something you would have to get used to and of course they are the future of transport. Credit to you for a video well worth watching, Scania is a brand I favour but have not driven any of the trucks only some Scania diesel buses on city services here in NZ and they dated from the early 2000s.

If I had that guys job I would know every spec on each vehicle without having to look up anything.

Such a fun day for you, and us ! The best instructors were the ones who take the time to talk and tell you about the vehicles rather than just respond to your questions. You learn the most that way.

Many many years ago we had a meeting of fatigue testing engineers of different European car manufacturers at that place. So we stepped up to the trucks. They said there is an instructor with every truck, enjoy the ride. We all went to get in on the passenger side and they said: no, you are the driver! Most of us had never driven a truck. Great experience, great place, great people.
I would assume that as long as you don't have to reverse into anything, the biggest challenge would be either taking your corners wide enough or going through the gearbox if it was a manual.
No reverse, no manual, no problem. Just fun.

Just discovered your channel. Absolutely love it!!! I am a bus driver so to me having to drive a truck would be so weird, but yes.... The first time you drive a bus, you always think to yourself... "wow, this windshield is so huge" but you will get used to it.! Getting my CDL (YSK) for transportation soon. :)

Just drove past Södertälje last Wednesday. I've been to Sweden twice now with a truck, both times via Kapellskär. Better roads than in Finland.

Cool Video, I like the Scania and Mercedes on ETS2 😀. The new super is really great. I’m a big fan of offroad trucks like MAN Kat1 8x8 but I have no driving licence for trucks and so I watch your channel. I love to see your positive and powerful charakter, that makes me a bit more happy for the day. Greatings from Germany.

Hi Cassie - I am so envious - must say you looked super cool during the test driving. Re the comment on brake fade, when I drove a coach in the early 1960s it was a real problem when descending hills with a full complement of 49 passengers. The trick was, when the brake pedal was virtually down to the floor you would pull the handbrake on a couple of notches, the pedal would then be at the top of its stroke and the whole process would start again. Of course you would also have to shift to a lower gear to make use of any naturally occurring engine braking. As to the electric vehicles, I recently acquired an electric car - on that as soon as you release the accelerator pedal the car automatically slows and battery re-charging occurs; you have to adopt a different style of driving - like what was said during the video, the aim is not to touch the brakes and anticipate what is happening up ahead - for instance I try to time it just right at traffic lights so that I don't have to come to a standstill before the lights change to green - all good fun. I think that you should share the photos of you with the truck - they looked really good. Very best wishes and thank you for a most entertaining video.

Bravo darlin. I say you will do very well as a Model, Driver and Spokesperson for Scania products. I suspect they are thinking the same thing, because those trucks look good when you are behind the wheel.
Greetings from Scotland! In the Hybrid truck "You've driven trucks before?" That made me laugh! It's weird when the electric cuts in and everything goes quiet! Totally different to the Super which has a really nice deep engine note! I heard the guy say that the 6cyl has an overhead camshaft now! That's a complete redesign of the engine then. That 360 camera is SO cool Cassie! I gotta get me one of those!
The bus was a different thing to drive with the steering axle well back from the front, it took me a while to get used to driving a coach but it makes for a great turning circle and visibility is great on the newer coaches/busses, especially service busses! How did it feel to be a bus driver Cassie? Anyway, thanks for another great video! I would love to have done that and best of all the fika afterwards, we could swap stories of modern driving and driving in the 70's and 80's when things were different (worse trucks, but less traffic!) Maybe one day, I'll get a chance to treat you to a proper lunch! (Yes, I dream!) 😂😂😂😂 Have a great weekend Cassie!

Really nice video! I really enjoyed hearing speaking Cassie in Swedish. The Super engine seems to have a different sound to it, it seems to sound really nice though. It's kind of funny the instructor naming the fantastic compression brake whereas that other Swedish brand had it from the first FH model in 1993:) He's not completely right about the overhead cams, some brands had (and still have) compression brake with a low crankshaft and pushrods, just like the familiar Scania engines have. Ah yes, full load with Europa trailer is 40 tons of course :) (BTW the engine you showed inside the demo centre is not the new Super engine!)
That was very interesting. Perhaps next time I get to Sweden I'll stop by Scania's Demo Center and knock on the door. I still have my commercial license, including bus..:)
