Love video Santa Monica is one of few places like Venice where it's not as hot and I love the June Gloom. It's like SF. Have you ever done the SoCal challenge? Go to palm springs take tram for mountain weather then drive to Joshua tree for desert weather then end up at beach for beach weather all in one day. Not many places on earth can you get 3 climates In one day. I think a area in Spain has it. Maybe do a video on it and show the unique LA. I did it but went up Mt baldy then desert then beach

I feel like you might have skipped over the homelessness issue a bit there! From watching just a few recent videos on TH-cam it really does seem to be at epidemic levels in Santa Monica right now, with no signs of it being fixed. Businesses leaving, people stumbling across dead bodies, and Palisades park basically being the equivalent to SF's Tenderloin district at this point, especially at night where it really does seem like it's not even safe for locals to walk around. I was last there in 2016, and it didn't seem half as bad as it appears to be now.

Hi Dave, I agree it’s definitely worsening post Covid and there is for sure a rampant homeless population in SM.
Business wise I guess I don’t know if I’d attribute that to retail rents or Covid, or safety so I don’t yet have firm conclusions on this matter.
I do have several friends and clients who are living in SM and still love it, and I go to the Tongva park often with my son.

I was just in Santa Monica and saw like two homeless ppl 😂 its not even bad compared to downtown Houston where I live there's like 500 homeless on one street and they are loud ALL Night with speaker systems outside

I have lived in and around SM for over 40 years. It was once a great place to live. This video must have been sponsored by SM Chamber of Commerce. The homeless and crime are everywhere due to the far left politicians running the place into the ground. (See San Francisco) Businesses are closing daily. Ecology? Santa Monica Bay is one of the most polluted bodies of water in California. Yes, residents do stay in SM because traffic is a nightmare going anywhere. Rent and property values are very, very high so that part is true. That is why I am selling and moving to Carmel.

Russell thanks so much for your insight as a local! It’s really helpful to hear perspectives of longtime residents. Ha ha, I’m not quite the chamber of commerce, I’m an LA realtor but I appreciate hearing your opinion as it is a different experience living somewhere than visiting. I must admit when I hit the beach I tend to go to Malibu as it’s quieter!
Carmel is beautiful! When are you planning to go?

@@LivingInLAwithANJ Thanks for responding. Sorry, I once loved SM but too many parallels with San Francisco. Another city I once loved and visited regularly. Won't go back there now. SM City Council is looking the other way while crime escalates and the homeless are taking over. The Promenade and Palisades Park are dangerous places at night. I know several business owners who are throwing their hands up at the lack of addressing the problems. Anyway fleeing north in two months. Good luck with LA real estate.

Of course! That’s really upsetting to hear! And must be so frustrating when you’ve been there so long. I hope they really start to address homelessness with the Olympics coming up. They had to in London, and major areas were revitalised, but we also have a bigger safety net, with the NHS and mental illness in the UK. Well thanks for watching and sharing, all the best with your Carmel adventures! If you need help with your SM home then please let me know. :-)
