Fun to hear your viewpoints. A definite pro to living in Santa Monica is the cool ocean breezes. In the summer, those 5-10° cooler temps on a very warm August afternoon are a blessing. And the smell of the ocean. And the sound of the waves at night. You get the idea. Santa Monica is great for singles but once you’re coupled and kids start happening, in my experience families pack up and head for the Palisades or even, inexplicably, Calabasas.

I was born and raised in Santa Monica and there is 1000% a vast community of locals who have also lived here all their lives. Also, if you want to go out and have a fun night there are tons of places where locals go so don't get it twisted!
