Agreed. I think the 70's is when R&R music matured as an art form rather than just a product of the counterculture. The live version of Rhiannon is so different than the studio version. FM was a great live act.
Mostly because in order to be in the industry you actually had to have talent. And artists were totally free to be themselves and express themselves. None of this slick image packaging, songs written by committees, auto tuned, synthetic bs that passes for music these days. Sure people wanted to get rich and famous, but that wasn’t the driving factor, they were musicians, singers and songwriters who wanted first and foremost to play, sing and write for a living..fame and fortune was a lucky by product. I get sad, because I’m sure that there is the same wealth of talent out there as we were privileged to grow up with in the ‘60’s, ‘70’s and ‘80’s and even the early ‘90’s, although by then they got labelled ‘alternative’ and became niche, it’s just that instead of A&R scouting for talent and performers and bands having put in the hard yards playing live for years before ever getting a record deal the industry now creates its own little cookie cutter product to sell to 13 year olds and it is all fake and real talent never gets a chance.
Her voice has never been in question- one of the all time greats- but most people don't realize how smoking hot she was in the early days of Fleetwood Mac. Every bit as compelling and charismatic a lead singer as Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, or anyone else from that era.
Completely agree and to throw in for good measure Carly Simon and Carole King from that era that may or may not have gotten credit for their accomplishments.
@@markpage9886 I'm sorry- I should have clarified. Countless numbers of fans weren't even alive in the 70's, much less old enough to appreciate her beauty at the time. None of them knew what she looked like when she was younger. That was my point. Cheers.
I'm a huge 80s fan but there were a few 70s songs that are excellent and timeless. THIS (along with Fernando) both qualify. Fantastic. Stevie Nix. Ahhh, sooooo good.
Best version of Rhiannon is the one on The Midnight Special. Nicks goes to another level in that performance. And Lindsey's solo is the best I've ever heard.
I was 13 too, 1962. But at the time Fleetwood went right past me. I was too busy with Elton John and the Stones. But eventually I got with the Fleetwood express
Absolutely beautiful woman. Love that hairstyle. Reminds me so much of the girls of the 1970s...the best decade. Oh, and her musical talent is pretty darn good also.
Yeah, he just lets it roll through him. I've played with a few bands over the years, lived for a year in a house of musicians. Our living room was a jam room. I've never been a part of a band, but when you're playing a song you all know well, it really is an utterly unique feeling to just be in total sync and jammin away. I just couldn't imagine having wrote the song, and performing it in front of thousands and vibin while jammin away. Must be glorious. I'd have to say playing Tool was my favorite. We could never play an entire song though hahaha.
A good working blues rock band from 1967 through the Green, Spencer//Kerwin and Welsh eras with Christine joining along the way. When Bob Welsh left they wanted Lindsey Buckingham to join as guitarist and singer. He had one condition. His love interest/musical partner Stevie Nicks came with him. What a gem they got! The rest is history.
Took me a long time to warm up to this era of Fleetwood Mac, but now that Ive become taken by them, I can certainly see why the OG FM would’ve fizzled out. So many layers with this chapter.
I was 9yrs but this the music I grew up on it was blasting from our stereos all the time I was so blessed to grow up in this time one of my all time favorites the great FLEETWOOD MAC❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😘😘😘🥰🥰🌎🌎🌎😇😇😇🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿💰💰💰💵💵💵💵💸💸💸💵💵💰💰💰💵💵💸🤔🤔🤔❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!!!

This is one of 3 songs that Stevie and Lindsey brought with them when they joined said so by Lindsey in an interview I saw. Beautiful talented Stevie. I must mention Mick Fleetwood's drums designs are brilliant as well.
@@EdwardBernays-hn1to More than 3. There are 4 (not including Crystal) on the self titled album - Rhiannon, Landslide, Monday Morning & I'm So Afraid. Even Blue Letter by the Curtis Bros (friends of L & S) was a song Lindsey had already arranged for the second BN album. I Don't Want To Know & That's Alright went on Rumours & Mirage. Sorcerer (then Lady On The Mountain) was also considered and 25 years later wound up on a Stevie solo album.
So easy to get infatuated with Stevie Nicks. I remember hearing her for the first time over at a neighbors house. Had no idea who she was, but that voice........
I had just gotten out of my 1974 VW Beetle to go into the local mall, and Rhiannon started playing out of the speakers in the door. I got right back in the car to listen to it and I was blown away. It was the first time I'd ever heard the song.
Fleet wood failed in one MAJOR area, they did NOT use Stevie Nicks ENOUGH, she was the star BY FAR in lead vocals! And the absolute best looking! Her voice is the best female voice ever recorded!
It's no wonder that everyone in the band was banging each other and getting with each other. I mean, after performances like this, unless you're an all-male band or all-female band, what else was to occur? This is the best Rhiannon (live) version I've ever witnessed. Stephanie was ON FIRE this night. My GOD I wish I was a little older in my hometown of Phoenix/Paradise Valley to have met her back then.
Stevie Nicks is The Best Female vocalist to ever Live, her voice is Majestic 🎶 My husband is taking to see her live again September 23rd at Gillette Stadium for my birthday ❤ cant wait!! I wish i was able to see Fleetwood Mac together with Lindsey Buckingham. But the chain was broken when our songbird passed away. But at least we still have videos like this to beable to go back an relive thier Greatness
I have seen Fleetwood Mac four times, the first being at Wembley Arena, London, in June 1980. I was lucky enough to be right at the front, level with Stevie. What more could a 21 year-old male ask for? To say I was blown away is an understatement. This band, with Stevie, Christine, Lindsey, Mick and John, were magnificent, music never (in my opinion) to be bettered.
Everyone can appreciate the beauty of this piece of artwork but the very few know the Truth behind the Song it is Stevie’s warning to the Welsh Witch that she knows what is going on inside her mind
I saw them at Wait Chapel at Wake Forest Univ the same year 1975, I was 16, I think it was in Nov 1975, I walked up to the front of the stage and took a picture of Stevie as she turned around and smiled and looked at me! I had it blown up to an 8/10, and framed it. But I subsequently lost it over the years?? 😮😮😊😊
Buckingham is one of the most under rate guitarists ever. Mick exists to play drums, and Nicks is one of the hottest, and most talented vocalists to ever sing.

Stevie says, “This is a song about a Welsh witch.” She is bewitching in her own right. 😍
Rhiannon was a Welsh Goddess
Stevie is so freaking beautiful!! Omg!!!! That woman sing her heart out!!!! She's incredible
As a guitarist and a singer Stevie and Fleetwood have influenced me and made me happy...Thank you..
Oh my goodness I really love Stevie Nicks! That woman is so darn gorgeous and talented as hell, I love her raspy voice!!! 😍😍😍😍

Stevie Nicks, the Witch and the lover.. the GODDESS..will live through ages
OMG STEVIE TOWARDS THE END OF THE SONG, IT FELT LIKE SHE HAD A MAGICAL SPIRIT TAKE OVER SINGING
She looked possesed.
~ 1975.
I turned 13 that summer. With two older sisters, I grew up listening to all the good bands. Sad to see where it has gone since.
It’s my job to bring those vibes back
I was 13 too, 1962. But at the time Fleetwood went right past me. I was too busy with Elton John and the Stones. But eventually I got with the Fleetwood express
Me too saw them in the Orange bowl in Orlando in 78 , outdoor venue hard to do but they pulled it off. This does remind me of those days n times.
My favorite version of this song. I regret I never heard it live in 75
It felt more real.. than all versions after
Her voice is timeless
She can really sing. Rare these parts.
There is a tear in her voice.
Christine is just as beautiful
I miss her. Each member was the heartbeat of the group in their own right, but Christine and Lindsey.......MAN!
