We NEED Season 2! It's even better than the first season. In regard to the books, I'm only a little bit into the first one, but I've read a lot about what happens and the show follows the overarching plot progression and character beats but changes a LOT. But it's a fantastic adaptation regardless. Big things were changed like Louis and Claudia's race, the time period, character ages etc which are significant changes to the story, but the show does such a good job at telling its own version of the story that it doesn't ruin the original story at all.
yes please record for season two, and please keep calling armand, arnold, it's only fair 😂 as for your question about the adaptation aspect, it's honestly hard to compare the two. a lot of the aspects that make the show great (the racial tensions between l and l&c, the discussions in dubai) aren't in the book, and the show really expands on their day to day life, but the heart of the story (can monsters be loved? can they be forgiven?) and the major plot beats of the book are the same. i'd say the books are the seeds and the show is the riotous garden the sprung from them. would i recommend reading them before the show is completely over?it really depends on which aspect of show you like more. If it's the plot and being taken on the journey, then wait. If it's getting to know the characters, then read them if you want to. I will say the show is different enough that I don't feel like the experience is spoiled for me, and having the context of understanding these characters and knowing what happens to them adds so many layers and complexity to the show. It's two vastly different ways of watching it and neither is necessarily better.

Amazing series! So glad you jumped in when you did. Anne Rice has some of the most dramatic and tragic... not to mention graphic depictions of gothic vampire romances ever made. Her portraits of her vampires are so vivid in the books, so compelling, that they stick with you. Watch the original Interview With a Vampire movie (1994) to see what was the first adaptation, then read the books. You will not be disappointed. Ms. Rice (rip :( ) had a way of humanizing vampires, yet leaving them as the insane dangerous murderous contemptable creatures they are meant to be. Her vampires aren't human, they aren't glamorous (despite some of the lovely costumes) they are killers, monsters, tragic broken dolls, wind up toys, lost sheep, eternally insane and tormented by what they are, others revel in their existence, living in defiance, and still others are quiet sentinels in the shadows guardians of secrets upon secrets. They don't sparkle, they drip with blood, and terrify the living. They are as likely to torture you to death as they are to befriend you, and they have moral codes that are beyond comprehension. When you read her prose you get a sense of why so many vampires don't live long or go insane, it's all too much for them. Time, loneliness, boredom, tedium, and lack of purpose are the enemies, despite their immortality... more then anything else. If this is your first exposure to them, trust me, you have so much lore to dig into and almost all of it is great. If vampires were real, they'd be closest to how she portrays them.
The actress who plays claudia bailey bass was 18 or 19 at the time she did a brilliant job the show did a good job showing the consequences of being a child vampire because she was 14 she can't make other vampires nor is she as strong or powerful as a full adult vampire

Definitely do season 2 …season 2 is the 2nd half of the first book, so if you want to span the whole story of the first book - WATCH IT :) Season 3 …will be book 2 (not sure is they’ll combine it with book 3 or if that will be its own season potentially 🤷🏼♂️ You should for sure read the books (after watching the show if you don’t want spoilers)…the entire book series is sooooo good. There are 13 books in the full series, but the first 3 to 5 are must reads for sure :)

Lestat, as antagonistic and awful as he often behaves, is no calculated mastermind. Definitely deranged, and has an awful temper, but he also has trauma (mostly a MASSIVE amount of abandonment issues and ergo stayed with Louis being ignored for 7 years vs dare be alone which is what lead to the fight in the first place) and is, by and large, giving Louis what he considers good advice about the family thing in just a really shitty way. But he absolutely needed to be almost-murdered. Hey, maybe he'll learn something.

So I watch the reaction to this show. Actually every day. So what I have noticed is the younger generation only sees the show from a victims point of view. Never from a self point of view. And most of you also watch it from a human point of view ignoring the actual vampiric point. Of an immortal. So I encourage you to rewatch it from the point of view of LESTATs point of view. Because if you don't you'll miss out on what season 2 offers. And I promise you won't regret it. And non spoiler warning Season 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 13,14,15,16 (That's if they keep each book to 2 seasons) That LESTAT is and always will be the Main Character. P.S. I won't subscribe until actual respect for Characters and attention is paid for season 2.
