I really love the line “Claudia is my coven” it’s such a soft and heartfelt line, it’s saying that Claudia is her home, her love, she belongs with her. Together they are strawberry 🥺🍓
I don’t know why you were so worried about coming to this topic too late or “after it went viral.” I really needed a video like yours to satisfy my need for video essays on my favorite shows.

i loved the pattern of him very openly talking about wanting to shag and torture his onscreen partners in the next season yet turning into a victorian damsel when asked about his playlist for the character. 10/10 i missed the time when actors were fun and not giving bland media training 24/7
@@shashatainment if you want to dig deeper into this world, look up a podcast community called The Articulate Coven. From episode breakdowns to reactions to Anne Rice reviews to examination of everything imaginable. Extremely friendly and welcoming to any and everyone. I post here and there statuses of Anne's from a decade ago as a way to keep her spirit alive, so it's worth looking at if that's something you think you'll dig.
@@shashatainment some things else that I realized while watching this in more detail: I believe that Louis being a photographer is meant to be a nod to Anne's second Novel The Feast of All Saints. Main character in that film was a mixed guy (more black than white, it's important for the novel'd main character) that was obsessed with photography. If you haven't read or seen the miniseries yet, it's worth a read/ watch (it's on TH-cam for free).
@22:10 My theory has always been that DreamStat is actually the manifestation of Louis' real memories trying to surface after years of being subdued by Armand.
YES! glimpses of his real character, even details like his carefully brushed and more luscious hair versus the shorter and slightly frizzier hair from the first season, his gentler mannerisms, more of his humor and laughter! Yussss
@@UnderdarkDrow_this could be further confirmed as DreamStat looks more like Armand’s recollection of Lestat in the 1700s than how we see him in Louis’ memory

@@morganfarrell2442 Lacking budget and poor planning? This is one of AMC's top shows currently and the second season was greenlit midway through the first season. What lacking budget and poor planning?
36:45 Actually, in the show, the Paris events take place over 4 years. Louis and Claudia arrive in Paris in the winter of 1945, and Louis burns the theatre in 1949.
wait ur right! i didn’t even realise i made this mistake - the BULK of what we see happens in the span of 2+ years, and then a lot of story is left out + there is the unspecified timeskip between madeleine’s turning and the bar scene with louis, claudia, madeleine and armand. thanks for pointing it out :)
@@shashatainment The timeline of the show is purposefully left very vague, with only a few context clues given here and there. I guess it plays well into the whole memory is a monster theme. Time begins to blur when you are a centuries old vampire. 😅
As far as the Claudia x Armand dynamic, the second Louis says “Imagine me without the burden of her!”, referencing Claudia, that was when Armand saw Claudia not with jealousy or hatred but as an obstacle to his control over Louis. To Armand, Claudia is no different to a locked door. She needs to die so he can have Louis, and as he realizes Louis will never commit fully to him he wants to kill Louis as well. Ironically, control over Louis is something Claudia points out to Louis both with Lestat and Armand and something Armand is never confident in because of his role in the play. Also I absolutely love the show’s sets. Lestat is abusive, yes, but he gives Louis access to knowledge. Armand is abusive and keeps knowledge out of reach (like how the books must be retrieved by someone with the Cloud Gift, which Louis doesn’t have). Might not be book accurate, but I’m so impressed with the show!

1:09:03 In the book Louis actually knows what happened. Armand even asks: “Why are you not surprised? Did you already know?” and Louis answers “Yes”. He stays with Armand to punish himself.
the dialogue ur referring to actually goes a little differently and is mentioned in the video, book-louis does not outright say he knew, he says "You can’t convince me you care about this”, nor does he share any thoughts similar to what ur saying with molloy. it is an important detail, and the "kinda knew" can be applied to the book version as well, but we have no outright confirmation

I loved it. Just bought the book and love the show version. Actors are hot, dialogue is poetic, set/filming/costumes are great. Can’t wait to what’s next
for one of the questions of the end of the video: there's actually a pretty solid theory that alice was real and armand mixed some of daniel's memories of him with alice's there's some scenes of daniel being confronted about alice and on some he is pretty nonchalant and on others, he seems affected (?) so that would maybe make it easier to differentiate also the whole "yeah?" thing was definitely something >armand< hated lol (great video btw don't feel bad about being "late" just talk about the things you like bc there's always going to be people who'll enjoy it)

😊Really enjoying this. I'm at the Paris section but I had to pause and comment. When you mentioned the queer content deniers I laughed so hard. 😂 My aunt and her son both recommended, and GAVE me copies of, the Vampire Chronicles books when I was growing up in the early 2000's in Ireland. I brought up the show before it came out, and I don't know if they're being deliberately obtuse, but they have a total blind spot for the queerness of the books. "They were besties and roommates" times a million. Being a queer lady myself, I find it so fecking hilarious. 😂😂😂😂

Oooh I loved your deep dive into the book, movie and show comparisons! I think it's the favorite of all the ones I have watched, informative but funny at the same time - I love your very dry humor, it speaks to my slavic soul.❤ For season 3, you will need to compare the show to the Queen of the Damned movie as well... good luck, I hope you have enough time to prepare mentally!
this is such a hefty and chunky analysis, and it's absolutely brilliant!! thank you for your amazing work!! can't wait to see where season three will steer us!
One quibble: the show makes it EXTREMELY clear that this sojourn is *during* the war- Claudia's journal from a POW camp is from I think September '41 (and who knows what she means by 'POW camp' here- the Soviet look of the notebooks is confusing given who was holding Ploești at the time). They're moving through the landscape of Southeast Europe during a period beginning right after Operation Barbarossa- so, a lot of it solidly, the war in Eastern Europe and the busiest years of the Holocaust; the point at which they come to spend the night at the factory is presumably early '45 if they are arriving in Paris in November '45. I don't love this choice for multiple reasons- watching this as a Jew, and also someone with chosen family from Ukraine- some of whom survived the war in those very POW camps pretending to be Gentiles!- and sitting with the implications of 'eh, humans, who cares' as a whole thing feels pretty bad, and also I keep asking myself how the hell they got around without being bothered for being black. But it's Certainly A Choice and I feel like probably a deliberate way of underlining that these are *truly* beings who do not feel community with humans or involved in human moral issues, who arguably do not have a recognisable moral sense as we know it, and the depths of Claudia's grim determination to find her kind- and it really does that very economically!
yes, i was referring to their stay in romania as post-ww2, should’ve made it clearer that they started the journey during the war. very valid take, as a slav born & raised in russia i did really appreciate them talking about the soviet army committing atrocities during the “liberation” which i feel is often overlooked and left out due to lack of nuance in conversations about ww2
@@shashatainmentI wanted to ask, how do we approach leftist spaces with nuance? It's pretty tiring when you have Marxist/left views and the people who share them too don't want to explore these topics more, and conservatives/right wingers calling you evil and dogmatic as they use these soviet crimes against you
@@keep_it_in_a_hidden_place i try to educate those around me, esp considering not a lot of info is available in languages other than russian, but as for nuance, my best friend loves saying “two things can be true” when said nuance is lacking. yes, the soviet army beat the n@zis, but they are also responsible for horrific crimes and that should not be left out in favor of the Heroes narrative. two things can be true
@@shashatainment thanks for replying! I also kinda dislike how in Europe we mention more things about the soviet union's victories but never the liberation of the global south
Dreamstat is also canonical in the way that the exact same thing happens with Lestat himself in Tale of the Body Thief - he starts seeing a manifestation of Claudia (which he at first thinks is a ghost) that voices his innermost thoughts and morals.
i remember there was also a brief mention of visions that felt very real when he burried himself in tvl - i think they were of nicki? described very similarly to dreamstat
I love your videos on Interview With the Vampire. I enjoy hearing your thoughts on the series, I don't see many youtubers talk about IWTV. I'd like to think over time more people will discover the series and the fandom will grow (and hopefully not overwhelm current fans). I'm more concerned with the series just not getting prematurely cancelled like Hannibal. I love this series and I have never been more excited or happy to be part of a fandom like this one. Also, I was at ComicCon and I lost my mind at the preview for season 3. I fully trust Rollin and Mark and their decisions with the series. I'm very excited to see where the series goes.

38:45 I think they substituted this scene with the tongue scene in the restaurant which is also kind of in the open. I mean Armand has to freeze time and ask them to stop.
honestly idk what u’re referring to since i’m talking about the movie at the timestamp in the comment, but if it’s about the show taking the fight out of the first encounter, i think they keep the tension between louis & santiago thru amping up their meeting at the theatre, doesn’t really change that much in the narrative imo
honestly you should, rereading the book with the show in mind was so fun cause it gave me a baseline for comparison which led to noticing more details and how they influence the dynamics and the story overall!
17:05 - Personally, I actually saw this act as Dacyana[?] after having drank Claudia's blood (and those also most likely having seen at least glimpses into Claudia's mind/memories) and taking away the one thing that right then Claudia cared the most about and would hurt Claudia as much as Claudia killing the revenant had hurt Dacyana....Claudia's hope for sane/pleasant/good/positive vampire companionship outside of just Louis/Lestat.😅 But maybe that was just me? 🤷🤷♀️🤷🏻♂️😁😊

Oooh I loved your deep dive into the book, movie and show comparisons! I think it's the favorite of all the ones I have watched, informative but funny at the same time - I love your very dry humor, it speaks to my slavic soul.❤
For season 3, you will need to compare the show to the Queen of the Damned movie as well... good luck, I hope you have enough time to prepare mentally!
@@ingliszkau honestly haven’t been as hyped for smth as i am for s3 in a loooong time!!
I was waiting for this video so much!! It is amazing how you managed to cover all the aspects of the season 2 🙌
I loved watching this and how you encompass the book, movie, show and the interviews. It's so complete and fascinating, thank you so much
I have been waiting for this to drop. Love, love, LOVE!
I just finished season 2 this week! So as someone else who is late to the party, thank you!
I only just now watched the show it’s never too late lol I’ve really enjoyed your input!
this is such a hefty and chunky analysis, and it's absolutely brilliant!! thank you for your amazing work!! can't wait to see where season three will steer us!
i was waiting this so patiently, finally is here, i’m so seated!!!
I loved your video!!! The effort you put into it made me enjoy every second, I couldn't stop watching it!!
I just finished both seasons and your videos scratched the itch in my brain I was craving. Tysm for your time and research ❤❤❤
Strawberry 🍓 great video! So looking forward to the next season
This vid has me giggling every second, also props to you for pulling off blocked brows with both eyebrows pierced, that’s true skill
I really like your work and dedication to this masterpiece of a show. Well done 🔥🔥🔥
YAYYYY I found your channel just after finishing S2 and was waiting for dissss
Been waiting patiently for this video, very excited to watch!
Such a great video. It kept me company while I baked about 6 dozen cookies and cupcakes. And viva la strawberry. ;)
Great job! Thanks for this. Love Autumn Brown as well. I wonder if strawberries are out of season 🖤🖤
OMG these videos on iwtv were so good!!!! I haven't seen any of your stuff before but now I'm in love with it. You're so funny and entertaining and interesting amazing work! Go have some strawberries as a treat
Thank you! I've been trying to find a video that talks about season 2 that isn't one of the 3 videos on here I've seen already.
Our cats screamed at the same time and we both responded the same way 😂 30:51
I stayed at the Intercontinental in Paris, got a small room, but had a lovely view of the opera. Did not know Interview with the Vampire takes place there 😮
This is a great breakdown and a good video for those seeking a more in depth perspective for each character. I am anxiously awaiting season 3. Strawberry!
Tnankyou so much for these videos - I just watched the series and have really enjoyed your analysis of it :)
I'm so happy I found your content. I love the stuff you are putting out and I can't wait for your next video. Strawberry 🍓
I really enjoyed season 2 Delainey did a good job as claudia rollin jones really did a brilliant job in glad he split book 1 into two seasons i can't wait for season 3 and see the vampire lestat finally get a true adaptation that movie didn't do a good job at showing both lestat and akasha stories
🖤🖤🖤
This is the earliest I’ve ever been anywhere.
let's go!!!!! i've been waiting for this one 😤
I absolutely loved this!!! I’m always to late to things (3 months late to this LOL) but Anne rice has taken over my heart so this was very fun and the overanalysing nerd in me is satisfied 🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓
omg shasha!!! im immediately gonna binge watch this when i get home, im only 13 min in and im already LOVING IT!!!!!!
@@concrastinator8867 thank u!! hope u like it :)
Weirdly i feel like your video is right on time, iwtv is just starting its ascent to peak vitality imo. I’ve been watching since season 1 episode 1 but most of hype i saw online was coming from a midsize but mighty fandom on tumblr and somewhat on twitter.
Very excited to see the story focus more on Lestat, the star of The Vampire Chronicles, next season
Amazing content! ❤ great work. Beautifully done. Bravo
I love how you've clearly memorized the Armand Louis fight from the 70s. Big strawberry hours for those of us
i love that episode tbh, from the set dressing and lighting to performances given it’s probably my favorite in the show
The way i was waiting for this videooo
being "late to the bandwagon" doesnt mean people wont watch it, even if some will complain about it they still arrived to view it which is better than nothing
FINALLY finished this video and I highly appreciate my inclusion in the video!!! i love this video, as always.
thank u! and thanks for ur comment used in the vid :)
OMG Love your Video, love the way you make Videos!!!❤
Also Strawbarry XD
i loved watching lestat eat that strawberry in season 2
omg I went to the same museum in Lyon but I went before my IWTV obsession so I never noticed the head! thats cool. I hope they put Santiago's head in there too
What a great video!! 🍓🍓🍓🍓
thank u!
LOVE your analysis
Still watching but I needed to support you on the Bram Stoker despise 😅💕
i'm not that heavy on the despise aspect but he is sooooo easy and fun to make jokes about tbh
@@shashatainmentyou know, rereading his book as an adult - and not the teen adaption my school had back in the day -, I was okay with him until the Othello remark. if alive today, he'd be also in those comments on the first video 🤷🏿♂️
oh i‘m eating a strawberry tonight
Starberry blonde lestat is a thing i need now lol
Autumn Brown is the people's princess of this fandom
and for a good reason, her videos are genuinely so much fun
great video also i’d love to see a video about yellowjackets from you idk if you watched it but i think you’d enjoy it
I don't think Strawberry blonde is at all an accurate way of describing Sam Reid's hair so maybe she did actually give him a crisis lmao
strawberry - second video ive watched and i love your takes especially the one of claudias cast change is louis memories fault and cannot wait for more future takes plussss is there a way to do watch parties bc i would love to join the chat in those for season 3!! thank uuuu
Been obsessed with the show, watched both seasons multiple times now. Obviously love the books and all Anne's work. Will you be doing something similar for the Mayfair series? Love your breakdowns.
thank u! honestly idk, but my vampire obsession doesn’t stretch out to witches so it’s very unlikely in the near future
@@shashatainment That's fair. Here for the vampires!
Strawberry blonde is something that I never heard of
never clicked on a video so fast
Strawberry, like Sam Reid's hair...apparently! 😂😂
1:45:15 - Personally....his faceup actually made me think of the Olsen twins, not Ms. Swift. 😂😏🤭😁😊💖💖
38:45 I think they substituted this scene with the tongue scene in the restaurant which is also kind of in the open. I mean Armand has to freeze time and ask them to stop.
honestly idk what u’re referring to since i’m talking about the movie at the timestamp in the comment, but if it’s about the show taking the fight out of the first encounter, i think they keep the tension between louis & santiago thru amping up their meeting at the theatre, doesn’t really change that much in the narrative imo
i want to reread the book and rewatch the show after watching this
honestly you should, rereading the book with the show in mind was so fun cause it gave me a baseline for comparison which led to noticing more details and how they influence the dynamics and the story overall!
Thank you, this video succeeded at satisfying my autism for the day.. it was so interesting
when berry is strawing
