It shows his absolute dedication to the character because originally Rolin would have done Lestat with short hair but Sam insisted Lestat has long hair. So that's why he used hair pieces until his hair grew.😊
We’re so lucky that Lestat is being played by someone who respects and understands the text so deeply. He’s not afraid to stand up for this character and voice his opinion. Like not only is his performance astounding, he just genuinely loves and roots for Lestat & the overarching story.
I like that Sam said that Lestat’s rage comes from a toxic abusive masculine place and it makes sense especially when you realize the fight started after he attacked claudia when she said “let’s meet vampires worthy of your love”

I like the idea of Lestat as a victim of his own impulses - he sets things in motion, and then is hurt by what he's created - and so terribly sorry for himself at the same time as being self-recriminating.
Since the first season, I always thought the relationship between Lestat and Claudia was impacted by Lestat’s grief over Nicki, particularly in the harshness he shows her. I think at times, he thought he was building her up by breaking her down. I’m glad to see that particular idea had some truth to it.
That is brilliantly put!!! Every time he was being shitty to her, I was like, “he’s just trying to show her the real world but he’s being the absolute worst fucking parent of all time” lol. As if by showing her all of that will make her stronger -- mentally and emotionally --than Nikki, and stay alive longer and be as happy as she can be (under her circumstances).
Exactly. I think it kind of all plays into the whole memory is a monster premise. Like every character is haunted by the ghosts/ monsters of their pasts which impacts how they interact with other people. Certain characters let it make them into monsters like Lestat, Armand, and even Louis to a point. Others just try to survive through it, but still make mistakes along the way like Claudia and Daniel. They’re all trying to cope with the hands they were dealt, but it doesn’t always work out the way they intended.
I love Sam always being the Lestat defender of the year. Shows how much he cares about the character. I see him on that “Well, I know what the reason is in the books, but…”

I read all the books but I went into the show blind and was absolutely blown away by Sam’s performance. His portrayal made me forget I was even watching a show. He’s extremely inspiring when it comes to acting and is an absolute power house! I feel the same way about Jacob’s portrayal of Louis.
He wore it short in NEWSREADER. Sam played a newsreader which was supposed to be in the 90s. It's funny because in it he was quite a introvert the opposite to Lestat. I loved him in the movie BELLE. It is a true historical drama and he has his long hair put back in it. I got the DVD second hand from eBay.
I want a three hour interview with Sam talking about the show. And one with Jacob. And one with Jacob and Sam together. Thank you for this! It's so great to hear these amazing actors discuss the characters and the show in more depth.
I just wanna say, Thank you Autumn, Thank you Sam. This discussion was amazing. I truly hope we get to see as much of the Vampire Chronicles as humanly possible.
Sam’s acting in the episode was exquisite. So moving… he made me feel every emotion. I’ve watched both seasons multiple times and every scene that Sam is in is just amazing. He’s expressions are so animated. Just perfection! In love with his performance.
It is blowing me away how genuinely humble this cast is in interviews. It makes being a fan so much more enjoyable! You're havig the best type of conversation fans could see from them, in my opinion. I'm grateful for them to express their thoughts and insights which demonstrate passion for their part and the whole production. I imagine actors, usually, as eventually becoming complacent after so much fanfare around them but my god they are just shining and brilliant! 🌠 This is one of the most incredible productions I've fallen in love with in YEARS! Thank you, again, for this content! On to another one of yours and hopeful for more in the future ❤
as a person with bpd (borderline personality disorder) who has read the first two books and who ADORES lestat....he most definitely has that and/ or histrionic personality disorder. I identify with his MASSIVE and rapidly flipping emotions, and as a vampire he's got that even MORE intensified. his trauma growing up compounded with the trauma of his turning and everything after..... Lestat will always hold a special place in my soul ❤❤
On the point of the "come to me" debate, I feel like the mutual yearning is definitely the reason. I mean Lestat can hear Louis' thoughts and Louis says all he could think of was Lestat. So yeah, makes sense that mentally Louis was in a way calling to Lestat.
This is my favourite interview so far. Like just you stopping to talk about the actual episode and Sam going off in a Lestat character analysis and talking about the books. I love this
Started watching around 8 pm last night, rewatched, took breaks, rewatched some scenes (like you can see how moved Sam is when discussing Lestat and Claudia, their missed opportunity a deeper level of a relationship had she been older physically and it looked to me like he really did get choked up discussing Lestat being the last face Claudia sees, helpless, like a child... it makes me cry all over again. I have spent years without a passion for something and AMC's IWTV fulfills me on untold levels - and Autumn, you are doing the good work and Sam Reid is an angel!
thank you so much for this interview. it's so nice to see a full conversation with sam where he can fully go into character lore and go in depth about these emotional scenes. i am planning to binge watch all of season one and two before the finale tomorrow, so to hear how cognizant sam was of lestat's backstory going through, it's really quite beautiful.
38:19 oh I get now why Lestat has said “I’m burden with my father/maker’s temper”, even tho we know (in the books) that’s not true. It’s a reference to generational toxic masculinity. And I agree with Sam!
I really enjoyed this interview! Talking about the ‘come to me’ was very good because I also felt confused. Louis was painting a negative picture of Lestat because of their tumultuous past and trauma but as the show progressed and Louis began to remember and interpret his past in different ways you begin to question every single thing he’s saying. What’s truly happening? What was actually said? My heart was breaking every time a scene happened as Louis remembered it but it later cut in with the truth of the situation and the pain Louis had to go through again in a new light or understanding. I have a lot of respect for Sam trying to interpret and make sense of the script and scenes! I respect the passion he has for his work!
Also the layers of acting everyone had to do esp during the trial play. The actors playing their character, the character in a play acting and following a script, subtle and obvious breaks from the script, certain words and explanations triggering the characters from their play and having to convey them breaking. So complex! It was beautifully written and captures. I have a lot of respect for everyone on and behind the scenes!
First off let me say that I love that Sam pronounces Lestat correctly! Almost everyone pronounces it wrong. Ah ah ah Lestat! Secondly I absolutely love Sam as Lestat! I honestly never thought that I would be able to accept someone other than Tom Cruise as Lestat, but now when I think of Lestat I see Sam’s face. I have waited 40 years for this series to happen. Thank you Sam for once again bringing the vampire of my dreams back to the screen 🖤 And that long blonde hair! Oh….my… god…. It’s amazing
I was thrilled with Sam's performance I have waited decades for someone to give me the perfect Lestat, the one I saw in my brain when I read the book decades ago Perfection
OMG, what have I been doing with my life, why have I not seen this before ???!!! Hell fantastic interview, informative and insightful Many thanks 🙌 My reflection of Lestat in the “apology scene” is that he says it all not looking at Louis until the end when he says he will always be sorry- In that moment their was a hint of a pause where maybe Lestat was expecting an acknowledgment from Louis and then nothing ( great writing). Dr Sam’s insightful knowledge of the books fantastic!!!!🤓 Oh, and yes GF long hair is too much work 😋
Thank you for the interview! Well done! Enjoyed it ! Sam is not an easy customer! He is a perfectionist and has embraced Lestat’s character to a level that makes us root for him! Happy we will continue to see him bring Lestat to the small screen.

Agreed that Lestat was there to fuck with everyone especially the parts where he was pushing Santiago.
Autumn, get Jacob!!!!!! We neeeeeeed an hour of Jacob, we beg of you! This is so iconic how you’re interviewing Sam right now!! ❤❤😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Iʻm manifesting Jacob for the next interview after episode 8 😍😍😍

@@WeightOfTheOceanthat finale was EVERYTHING too!!!!! Never have I been more invested in a show!
@@aleshawilson1041 The finale blew my mind and made me feel soooo much
Like he has such a serious demeanor but it’s trust worthy honest and genuine..
Also want to say the interviewer has such a great interviewing style that it’s flexible to any personality she’s interacting with
He seems like such an absolutely adorable human being. I love that he knows the books so well and loves Lestat as much as the rest of us. And i hope he keeps the long blonde locks after Lestat, they really suit him. And that smile! Lights up my day

Merci beaucoup 😘
I'm so impressed that Sam knows the books so well.
I read all the books but I went into the show blind and was absolutely blown away by Sam’s performance. His portrayal made me forget I was even watching a show. He’s extremely inspiring when it comes to acting and is an absolute power house! I feel the same way about Jacob’s portrayal of Louis.
The day Sam cuts his hair I’m gonna have a meltdown, like that scene from Adventure time when fin cuts his hair
His smile just gives me chills
The most talented actor
God his voice....
i’m SO glad sam reid added the “i didn’t want this” line 😭
I just wanna say, Thank you Autumn, Thank you Sam. This discussion was amazing. I truly hope we get to see as much of the Vampire Chronicles as humanly possible.
@@Th3Psych0hippy 💛
He's so attractive holy shit.
Luminous. Like a vampire. I don't think he's real...
Sam’s acting in the episode was exquisite. So moving… he made me feel every emotion. I’ve watched both seasons multiple times and every scene that Sam is in is just amazing. He’s expressions are so animated. Just perfection! In love with his performance.
I really loved him as Lestat . Nailed it.
Rewatching because it has so many gems that will DEFINITELY be relevant next season!! I love the way Sam explains things 🥹
@@shadowseer07 he’s earning that PhD in Ricean Vampire Themes
Still GAGGED a the chemistry Autumn has with like THE ENTIRE CAST!
Thank youuuu 🥰🥰 it’s all thanks to them honestly; they’re incredibly charming people
It is blowing me away how genuinely humble this cast is in interviews.
@@BoboGreatAunt thank you!!!! 💛💛
I RAN SO FAST AUTUMN IM NOT EVEN JOKING
HOPE YOU DIDNT PULL A MUSCLE
He’s so sweet and genuine. We are putty in his hands
as a person with bpd (borderline personality disorder) who has read the first two books and who ADORES lestat....he most definitely has that and/ or histrionic personality disorder. I identify with his MASSIVE and rapidly flipping emotions, and as a vampire he's got that even MORE intensified. his trauma growing up compounded with the trauma of his turning and everything after..... Lestat will always hold a special place in my soul ❤❤
this actually worked as my therapy this week, thank you so much for helping me autumn and dr sam!
Tune in next Friday for one final round of soul salvaging with an unnamed guest🫡🫡
@@AutumnBottomBrown Jacob Anderson?!? Rolin Jones?!?!
On the point of the "come to me" debate, I feel like the mutual yearning is definitely the reason. I mean Lestat can hear Louis' thoughts and Louis says all he could think of was Lestat. So yeah, makes sense that mentally Louis was in a way calling to Lestat.
omg 😭😭 his voice is so mesmerizing. I can listen to him all day long talking 😭😭😭
OMG! The hair, the eyes, the voice! The whole him! Lestat was his calling.
Please GOD, and AMC.... Give us a season for just Lestat's pov! We can't get enough of Sam Reid!

@@itzante2148 Oh my goodness! Christmas has come early !
The Vampire Lestat is confirmed for Season 3.
They said season 3 would be the Vampire Lestat and if they have a 4 it would involve Queen of the Damned
40:20 sam rly said "you know lestat got that dog in him"
This is my favourite interview so far. Like just you stopping to talk about the actual episode and Sam going off in a Lestat character analysis and talking about the books. I love this
5:30 “You’re not a natural blonde.”
Sam: “WHAT? 😨”
My god you're a good interviewer. You get the 'actor vibe' and play into it perfectly
@@Elodiron oh thank you!!!
One hour with Sam Reid after Assad Zaman???? Why are you blessing us like this??? Love from Italy!!

The wait has been excruciating lol
He he he 😈
Sam is truly Lestat watching him in this interview he is giving me all the loving parts of Lestat.
He's the balanced Lestat :D
He really is an incredible actor, I'm so happy that he is our lestat now.
thank you so much for this interview. it's so nice to see a full conversation with sam where he can fully go into character lore and go in depth about these emotional scenes. i am planning to binge watch all of season one and two before the finale tomorrow, so to hear how cognizant sam was of lestat's backstory going through, it's really quite beautiful.
thank u so much for the pearl jam question ♥
I HAD to throw that in there; the universe gave me no choice
Wow what an incredible interview. 1 hour passed by so fast
The whole dialogue had a perfect flow
Wow, he is sooo deeply in love with Lestat! ❤❤❤ and also is adorable how punk Sam Reid is 🤣. It’s gonna be an amazing trip, next seasons…
I need 10 hours of Sam talking about Lestat, let alone 1 😍
The part about lestat and Claudia's relationship truly broke me cuz its true, they could've been one hell of a team 😢
How amazing that you got to talk to Sam! Congrats for managing that!
i could listen to sam talk about lestat for hours this is so great, autumn we thank you for your service
never been so early for something in my entire life
OMG I’m sooo ready! Sam and Assad are just 😍😍😍😍😍 freaking SWOON!
Thank you Sam for once again bringing the vampire of my dreams back to the screen 🖤
And that long blonde hair! Oh….my… god…. It’s amazing
I was thrilled with Sam's performance I have waited decades for someone to give me the perfect Lestat, the one I saw in my brain when I read the book decades ago
Perfection
This interview is a work of art actually
OMG, what have I been doing with my life, why have I not seen this before ???!!!
Hell fantastic interview, informative and insightful
Many thanks 🙌
My reflection of Lestat in the “apology scene” is that he says it all not looking at Louis until the end when he says he will always be sorry- In that moment their was a hint of a pause where maybe Lestat was expecting an acknowledgment from Louis and then nothing ( great writing).
Dr Sam’s insightful knowledge of the books fantastic!!!!🤓
Oh, and yes GF long hair is too much work 😋
Thank you for the interview! Well done! Enjoyed it ! Sam is not an easy customer! He is a perfectionist and has embraced Lestat’s character to a level that makes us root for him! Happy we will continue to see him bring Lestat to the small screen.
What a fantastic interview. Autumn (beautiful name by the way), you did such a brilliant job of putting Sam at ease and letting him geek out with his passion for The Vampire Chronicles. A real pleasure to watch. I'm definitely subscribing now, can't wait to see more.
