He said that they made A look more like a bacon and so he thought that more time was put into it albeit it tasted worse. Some expensive things taste worse than their cheaper counterparts
@Jed Lawson that's his point, taste is not only subjective but can be chemically induced through cheap alternatives to mimic something of higher quality.
Most likely because most of us assume that producers of turkey bacon try very hard to imitate pork bacon. And he saw how much effort went into (A) that producer's imitation . However, he didn't have knowledge of what distinguishes quality turkey bacon and bad quality. Ergo, it was an incorrect assumption.
@@RimReaper710 ALSO, as someone who keeps kosher I'm like 99% certain that the more expensive turkey bacon was a kosher brand (that I eat all the time). Kosher meat is always more expensive due to rabbinic supervision and the extensive preparation and slaughtering process.
In French, we call bacon the canadian bacon and it's amazing except it's not fat so you won't have the crust.. In French, we call american bacon "poitrine fumée" (smoked breast) ou "lard" (fat from a pig).
In Canada, normal bacon is what you call "american" bacon. What you call "canadian" bacon is called back bacon. If you order bacon in a Canadian restaurant, you are getting "American" bacon
Same with ‘uk’ bacon - we call it back bacon and it’s much more popular than the American streaky bacon. Also we don’t generally cook the bacon as crispy as he did
I'm also Canadian and that "ham" looking bacon they always call Canadian bacon, is not even considered bacon here. Nobody I know buys bacon like that. I've worked in a few different meat departments for like 8 years and nobody cares about that kind of bacon. They consider it ham and it sells like 1/30 of what normal bacon does. It takes 1 shelf space vs over 20 spaces for normal bacon.
You’re alll idiots. Bacon doesn’t have to be cut from the belly of the animal, only American bacon actually is. Turkey bacon, however, is not bacon because it is a sausage. I’d say the same thing for the imitation Canadian bacon.
He didn't know a lot about turkey processing and assumed that the more processed one was more expensive cause you need more machinery and molds to make "bacon" from turkey
@@biowott4303 Yeah, looked like he was going for B, but then went for A by reasoning that making it look like bacon was a hard process to do. In reality, machines can do it pretty easy nowadays with processed meat. Like clown face bolonga.

@@Charlie_Xmas Yeah at 00:19 what he says is wrong. If you order bacon in Canada you'll get bacon not that abomination that is called canadian bacon. Our bacon is just like bacon in the States. Jeez!
working in a butcher shop it is completely safe to eat "THAT TYPE" of bacon in the beginning(the left one) like that it's been cooked to the point where it is safe to eat... alot of people would be worried about that. Just wanted to clarify...
It's not cooked. It's been smoked and cured, but you would still fry it in a pan or in the oven if you got that kind. The curing process which removes most of the moisture makes it relatively safe for uncooked consumption though.
Here in middle-europe we eat bacon and ham raw basically every time. We just put it in salt for 2 weeks and smoke it for a few days. I grew up on that. Completely safe. Italians do the same with prosciutto.
Lol knew he was wrong on the second set as soon as he guessed the non-"rustic" option. Was kinda surprised, since he'd noted the lean chunks, lower processing, etc. on the more expensive piece
I'll cut him some slack: he was up front about NOT being a turkey-bacon expert. His palate is tuned to the real deal so he was out of his element. Kudos for the great attitude about whiffing. In fairness, I learned a lot from him about real bacon and Canadian bacon (great pointers). Super glad he talked about "Euro" bacons. Sadly, I will have to start a quest in my area to find someone who carries Euro bacon.
I like the more expensive turkey bacon. It's nice to look on the back of the package and see it only has two or three ingredients. It's more or less just turkey thigh meat, and you won't go back to heavily processed stuff once you've had it. Applegate turkey bacon is a great example.
What a positive guy! Always remarking "Hey, this is a great product" even with the stuff I wouldn't buy like the processed Canadian bacon and the turkey bacon. A voice of an industry right there.

Johanna Bonana Actually there are comments with hundreds of likes on their previous videos saying how good the art is

everything he said about the turkey bacon made me think B was the more expensive... idk why he chose A...
I think it was how they got the look of bacon. I'm not 100% sure though

I am French Canadian and I grew up calling American bacon "bacon" and Canadian bacon "ham"...
Did you mean "jambon?" :D
@@chauntikleer Yeah jambon but traducted in english for english speakers. I forgot they also know the word jambon D:
Not sure I would know the word jambon had I not studied French in school.
Maybe, ... metric bacon?
In French, we call bacon the canadian bacon and it's amazing except it's not fat so you won't have the crust.. In French, we call american bacon "poitrine fumée" (smoked breast) ou "lard" (fat from a pig).
In Canada, normal bacon is what you call "american" bacon. What you call "canadian" bacon is called back bacon. If you order bacon in a Canadian restaurant, you are getting "American" bacon
Right? Im canadian and never seen "canadian" bacon... I just buy bacon... But as alway americans gives their countries name on everything "facepalm"
That sausage-style Canadian Bacon is what you find on American pizzas ordered with Canadian Bacon on them.
Thanks! That would not have been obvious to traveling Americans :)

Stefano Gomez haha I feel like he panicked
His argument was going towards B, so he probably went A last minute, but turkey bacon is definitely not a real bacon lol.
Same
He didn't know a lot about turkey processing and assumed that the more processed one was more expensive cause you need more machinery and molds to make "bacon" from turkey
@@biowott4303 Yeah, looked like he was going for B, but then went for A by reasoning that making it look like bacon was a hard process to do. In reality, machines can do it pretty easy nowadays with processed meat. Like clown face bolonga.

working in a butcher shop it is completely safe to eat "THAT TYPE" of bacon in the beginning(the left one) like that it's been cooked to the point where it is safe to eat... alot of people would be worried about that. Just wanted to clarify...
Interesting thanks for the info
It's not cooked. It's been smoked and cured, but you would still fry it in a pan or in the oven if you got that kind. The curing process which removes most of the moisture makes it relatively safe for uncooked consumption though.
@Clay Goeke think its still recommend to cook fully
@Clay Goeke dude relax, i was just refering to the "USDA recommend to cook bacon fully" thing at 3:32
Here in middle-europe we eat bacon and ham raw basically every time. We just put it in salt for 2 weeks and smoke it for a few days. I grew up on that. Completely safe. Italians do the same with prosciutto.
“This is a bacon you’re gonna eat once a year.”
DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO ELI!
Lol knew he was wrong on the second set as soon as he guessed the non-"rustic" option. Was kinda surprised, since he'd noted the lean chunks, lower processing, etc. on the more expensive piece
he guessed that due to the fact that A had more processing, it would have cost more to manufacture
