Making a New Wooden Handle for TysyTube - Woodturning
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 19 พ.ย. 2020
- My friend Tysy is currently restoring a big bread-, meat- or paper slicer kind of thing. The handle of it was cracked, so was the brass ring on it. He asked me if I can make him a new one.
The old handle was made of maple, so I made the new one with maple too. I decided to make the brass ring a tiny bit bigger and stronger. I remade an alûminium tang to test fit the new handle. I wanted to go in for 3/4 of its length, that should be perfect for Tysy to burn the handle on.
I hope you like my work and the video.

You guys are both awesome. Happy to see your cooperation. Keep it up!
The doyen/master of lathing!
And what about the hole downside of handle? 🤔
You guys are one of the best restoration channels!
Actually gives me a little smile knowing 2 of my favourite channels are pals
long time actually, we started collab when we had 15k subs, two years ago
I thought the same. 😊

I'm glad someone else likes that. I thought I was weird 😅

"Hello My Mechanics! My handle is broken, can you make me a new one?"
Sounds like an RPG quest lol
This handle was used by my grandfather to make the Hero's Screwdriver! Legends tell of a screwdriver that could turn out any screw, no matter how rusted out tight. It never slipped or ruined the screw! I'm sure it was a thing of beauty. Restore this handle our make a new one, and I'll have my last step towards making the next Hero's Hand Tool.

It is dangerous to go alone. Here, take this...
Looks like you need more (the good currency) go to the store to get more 1$ 50 10$ 500 100$ 500,000
Seeing a crossover between my two favorite restoration channels brings some well-needed light in this dark time.
Thank you very much :-)
you should've put a note inside "I MADE A NEW ONE"
haha good one ;-)
Great collaboration video. I cannot wait to see TySy video.
Yes, me too. He already showed me some pics of the progress of his work...
Now my mechanics 🧰 has to do something back ☺️ just watched Tubes video very nice 😋 now I’m watching your video 🪵
I remember in one of your earlier videos when you said you've never worked with wood before. You were replacing a broken handle that couldn't be repaired. You've gotten quite good at woodwork since then!
Thank you very much, I really do appreciate it :-)
He’s maxed out his tinkering stat
I think we can safely say that brass ring isn't going to fall off anytime soon, lovely job, I've also watched TySy doing the rest of the bread cutter.
I just love when you and Tysy work together! You two, in my opinion, are the best of the best!!
Thank you very much
Great work on the handle and also great collaboration with TySy.
Calling the metal man to help with wood turning is a bold move, and it has paid off. Great work as always!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it :-)
"My mechanics" is The Mechanic! Fantastic!
Много разных рестовраторов посмотрел, остановился именно на этом канале, мужик реально крут,токарь от бога..
Let me see: talented with complicated machines, a lot of tools, with metal and also wood! yeah my friend talent isn't a thing we can find anywhere. Cause turn a handle into a satisfying video is a thing that only a few can get...
Thanks for the video and stay safe ✌🏽
Thank you very much Priscila :-)

I love watching all the restoration channels collaborate and leave friendly comments on one another's videos. Absolutely wholesome.
One of my favorite things on youtube is the Tysytube/My Mechanics bromance! XD
I'm so happy you and Tysy worked together. I love both channels. I love watching your videos, I hope to be as proficient as you one day.
Can "My Mechanics" make a new one is like asking if water is wet.
It isnt according to Google and other sources for some goddamn reason
haha :-)
The "is water wet" idea is on a different channel.
Am I the only one who feels that "My Mechanics" and "Tysytube" are WAY TOO SIMILAR 😂❤️❤️
6 minutes and 46 seconds of peace and tranquillity!! Finally
Thank you so much :-)
I love watching these videos! So perfect, so relaxing! Thank you bro!
Glad you enjoy it!
Nice work with TySy 👍
thank you
Can't beat a bit of turning . Relaxing and satisfying
Once again - the most clearly shot, beautifully edited and the most immaculately restored video content compared to any other on TH-cam/internet. Keep setting that gold standard of restoration videos MyMechanics!
Please keep working on new/better ideas for restoration.
There is no other video upload on TH-cam I eagerly await more than yours.
Thank you very much, I really do appreciate it :-)
Spot on my friend.
His shots are phenomenal...hands down my favorite TH-cam channel.

I just watched TysyTube’s video, then watched this! It’s cool to see that you guys collaborated on this project!
Thanks for watching, much appreciated
It is so cool that two restoration YTers have such a great friendship. 👍👍👍
My Mechanics is the hero we need in 2020
3:28 The Champagne corks are popping just like this! My Mechanics and Tysytube collaborating, AND both releasing related videos on the same day. Wonderful!
2:30 sounds like the best massage a cat ever got 💖
Two of my favorite TH-camrs collaborating on a project. Here's to many more!
So cool to see you two collaborate!
I'm curious if you recover or recycle the brass, steel, and other metal shavings; and if so, how?
Along the same lines, I also wonder how you clean up all of the shavings and dust. Your shop is always remarkably clean. Do you use a collection system?
I suspect that I'm not the only one who is interested in these topics. They'd make a great video. Thanks for your work. It's fun to watch, educational, and inspiring.
Separating and saving the swarf is not worth the effort. Not even professionals do it. Big companies gather it in 1 container and it is sold as mixed metal.
I recycle it
@@MyTubeSVp I can't confirm that at all. All companies in switzerland recycle their metal shavings and they separate them by material. If you made aluminium on a machine and you make brass next, then you're going to clean the whole machine that the chips don't mix.
I was wondering the same thing. I'm glad that you recycle.
@@mymechanicsinsights I have a newfound respect for you, for what you do, and for your country! I've been wondering what you do with the swarf since I started watching your channel.
YES! No epoxy crap to glue the ring in. Just a perfect friction fit
Good to see part 2 of this restoration.
I love how the both of you uploaded at the same time
Glad you like it :-)
Nice work! Love seeing all of you guys supporting each other.
I love watching you work.
Great job, well done! The two that didn't like it thought you were making a Light Saber.
Thank you:-)
Thank you for sharing
Can't wait till the next project.
Keep safe
H hold on ive been watching your video's for months almost a years and i just realised that 2 of my FAV channels are working together🥺🥺!! I love you guyss❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ keep up the good work and the jokes🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Simple, elegant, and beautifully done.
Like master and apprentice. Who is who should be quite self explainatory. ;)
It has been quite fun watching Tysy evolve from not even doing surface prep before applying a single top coat with a rattle can to actually putting in some good effort. :)
Glad you like it :-)
You are a freakin genius my brother! I wish I had half your knowledge. You're way better than that random hands guy! You rock bro!
Brilliant, as always. Just love watching your work. Best ever! Thanks for continuing to share.
Glad you like it :-)
Wait - you mean Tysy is not an enemy, and i can watch his videos too? :D
I think my mecanics videos are better and restorations are qualitative
@@Eshkinckot Nobody can beat My Mechanics, but Tysytube material is still worth being watched !
Nobody should be enemy to each others even when they do the similar stuff
Yea they also know ladb and help getting his channel back up and rescue restore
The world is a better place when people love and respect each other's work
A very good job has been done.
Hello Mr.mechanics beautiful work well done I like it thank you Vince

The new handle looks so smooth! Cool collaboration work!
I'm glad you like it :-)
Top job MM, it's looks fantastic when put together on Tysy channel!
Thank you
Really spectacular work, I saw the other video by Tysy and you achieved a result worthy of a museum. Watching your videos I feel like doing a lot of things, the problem is that I don't have those tools and what is more important, I don't have your talent, however I am very inspired to see how you restore those historical pieces. Thank you very much for the inspiration and receive a cordial greeting from Madrid.
you are the one , you are the first , you are the end , you are the empire of tools ...
I saw his episode where he sent it off to you. Funny thing. But I guess you are the best at what was needed. Love your videos.
Thank you very much :-)
It was really nice you did a collab finally! Looking forward to the next one. The handle turned out very nice. :)
You ARE the best. PLEASE upload more of your restorations. Cant get enough ;-p
working hard :-) thanks
I always like your work, you're a true craftsman, and take pride in your work, and it shows!
Thank you very much :-)
@@mymechanicsinsights Your very welcome!
I’ve been making replacement tool handles for a long time but never got the call to slot one, now I know how it’s done. Thanks!
Glad I could help
Has there ever been a tysy, my Mechanics, and a Mister Patina collaboration? Cause I think y'all should
