Pretty Girl! flor is trying to sing exactly the same way as Tarja sang these songs before her, and she does it not badly, but she still doesn’t reach Tarja’s voice. those who became acquainted with the work of nightwish recently, in the era of floras, and have not heard nightwish with tarya will admire the singing of floras!
Emppu is the master of guitar solo's, he never plays too little or too much, just plays exactly what the song needs.....🤘🤘👍👍

As an old solo guitarist myself, I can't and I can agree with that. Emppu's solos are usually perfect, but he doesn't have them enough, and he uses tapping a bit too much.
He's not a soloist on guitar, he's a storyteller. Its not a negative in any way, its his style

He's initially talking about why he loves playing live music
Then he talks about himself for a bit, first why he's not important, only the lyrics are, and then we get one of my favorite lyrics from him.
"Where being wanted became a thrill I never knew" A spark of hope.
Then an appeal to aid that spark.
And then the acknowledgment of the fans.
"And you...I wish I didn't feel for you anymore"
That's the body-blow of this song. The song is a song about writing music for the fans.

I can't explain why but this is my favorite Nightwish song and this live version is my favorite performance of the song. Another reactor said it best. The last two minutes of this song belongs in museum. I would add that this song and Nightwish the band belongs in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

This is stunning, one I recommend all the time. Beware Onions though.
Obviously they have Jukka on bass now but he's not a vocalist for them (though I believe he does sing with Wintersun).
There are songs Tuomas says they will not perform without Marco. Meanwhile Floor and Troy cover the songs that they feel can be done justice without Marco.
This is a rare song where Emppu does not smile after his solo.
There was a video release earlier this week (maybe last week) of Floor being given a phone book and singing the entries under A. Priceless.
I really don't understand why Nightwish don't get backup singer/s to do Marco's parts.

Thank you wery much! Just great❤. About Emppu, I met him first time, outside like back stage or fan meeting, In a local train To Helsinki like 20 years ago. He had his guitar case and was sitting alone In the middle of the day. I got my self together and asked him very politely To sign my note pad. Of course he did gladly and we spent like 45 Min. Just chatting about normal stuff, Nothing about music, cause he is such a nice humble guy he do not need any "fan" To bother him. And of course we had these typical Finnish "silent" moments. And that proved me nothing has changed since 1996 and 24th of April 2022 when I saw him Last time in Helsinki. Same old prankster Who turns Floor's ear piece/monitor OFF while walking around the stage😅😅❤❤❤

6:14 funny you mention that... on Dutch radio she peromoted her solo single "Fire" and one deejay told.. she could sing a phonebook and still sound amazing... and they challenged her to do so.. and she did sing a page from a phonebook, and is sounded Floor..
The new (session) Bassist is Jukka from Wintersun so 2 members are from that band
One of my top 5 Nightwish songs after the big 3and Shoemaker. What makes this song so special is her ability to convey the emotion of the song. This is one of the more personal songs for Tuomas. It is the words of a boy who is loved by his family yet still feels misunderstood and can only communicate through his music. Tuomas has said this song was what he would want to say to the world if he were to pass.
Bisscute turns more and more into a true Metalhead. 😄 And her clothing looks like Goth and it fits her very good. 😍

Loved your reaction, thank you. Dear Ms. Bisquite, for me you are not wrong in in your interpretation. Same goes to a myriad of others who have worked to make sense of this song for themselves. You have hit the mark closer to mine in a long time.
How the band sounds; what a warm and inviting tone. Emppu's solo was suitably shot and soulful, and the abrupt end for the latter part of the reading was very good strategically. And towards the end Floor pulled off a Till Lindemann move without batting an eye, aided by Marco. Then the crescendo part with the whole band and Floor is something to savor.

Hi Bisscute, Tuomas actually wrote this song to be his own eulogy. He's being the boy in this song, and this is his message he wants to tell the world after his own demise. That's why everybody is keeping such "a low profile", as you said. To support the meaning and bittersweet heaviness of this masterpiece. Loved your reaction, as always!
Although the eulogy part is not untrue, I doubt it is the core of the message. I feel it is more about the struggle Tuomas felt when he all of a sudden was the pivotal point of a multi-million dollar business with the entire crew of over a hundred people riding on his performance as a bandleader, the lyrics-writer an the music composer. It ended young Tuomas' childhood (hence the "Dead boy").He wasn't yet ready to be Tuomas the great Metal-Mozart, but he was no longer young Tuomas either.
@@vogel2280 Interesting point of view, man, I've never looked at it that way. But sure, you can be right. One could probably say that this is also one of the beauties of Tuomas' work - a hundred people who listen to his music will have a hundred opinions on how to interpret it. And quite possibly none of them will be completely right, nor will they be completely wrong. Anyway, thank you, it's always nice to get a chance to look at something from a different angle. Cheers!

It's kind of difficult to explain but even the saddest songs from Nightwish are uplifting. This one is a good example. The lyrics are sad, it's a bittersweet story, this performance always leaves me emotionally exhausted but full of joy at the same time. Everybody is on point, and then Floor does... well, Floor things. And she wasn't even at 100% in this concert! She was recovering from the flu, let that sink in...

One of my all time favourite Nightwish performances. So stunningly beautiful with lyrics that touch so deep :) At 7:04 , Bisscute, you do something with your hands that is so symbolic of this beautiful moment with Emppu playing this guitar solo. I recorded a looping version of just the ending 'Mother and Father' section of that song that is about 9 loops. I'll sit in the driveway until they all play rather than turn it off.
I'm gonna miss that man if/when the pendulum does get him.

Replacing Marko? It's not just finding a bass player of sufficient talent. It's also finding the vocal talent that has been lost. Also a good fit with rest of the band and specifically with Floor.

Yes, you are right with your interpretation of a song about the mental phase of Toumas - so it’s a sad song. Therefore Emppu is not smiling as always - also the other ones… one of their best songs (if this possible)… 👍🏆
Bisscute....a lot of this song is dealing with a young boy feeling misunderstood by his parents. A lot of artists ( visual artists ) that I know, went through phases, when they were young, of feeling misunderstood, and lonely. I know, I felt that way for a long time. I just wanted to draw and paint...but so many other things got in the way. Sometimes I wished that I could just disappear into one of my drawings, and live inside this world I created on paper. I really think that the boy in the song wished the same thing...he wanted to disappear into his music, where he knew he could be happy.
Even today, I still wonder what it would be like to live in the places I paint...because I feel so happy when I am being creative!

One thing someone pointed out on another reaction to this song that I thought was pretty poignant….Emppu’s guitar solo…the expression on his face when he finishes…not his usual smiling, happy visage. Maybe that demonstrates the power of this song….it even got to him.
Marko's instrument is called "The Beast". The top neck is a 4 string bass guitar, and the bottom one is a 6 string electric guitar.
For Tuomas himself this song means a lot.
He has said that this is the “mother of all Nightwish songs, about himself and how he wants people to remember him as when he passes away.

I grew up with Nightwish in a way, and Floor is just the tip, Nightwish actually do the old songs with Floor, If I was her, I would never accept that, but she loves the songs too much, and performs them amazing, 11/10. Love the amazone. But without Traja and the guys getting together, they both have been failures. Now things are different, but fans never forget the beginnings, and the joy.

I highly recommend listening to the studio version with lyrics, it is far more complete experience. This song is a bit too challenging to convey its full impact when performed live, also Floor's voice isn't a pefect match for this one, she is too powerful at times
This song is about Tuomas saying goodbye to his naive dreamer inner child and attempt to abandon his unrequited love to idolized/fantasized version of Tarja (not the actual person, but the childish fantasy of her)
