About Lars as a drummer. I myself have never had a problem with his drumming. And he is entertaining to watch. But love him or hate him. The biggest thing to me is that he has been the drummer for one of the biggest bands in metal for decades. And it would be impossible to count how many youths he has inspired over the years to pick up those sticks and dream of doing what he is doing.

Same here! I do not understand why people hate on his drumming, it is as if they think of him as a meme. Hating for the sake of hating and not seeing through the negatives to see the positives. Much like how people just throw hate upon Nickelback or Linkin Park etc just because it is 'the thing' to do. How about just not be so judgmental and hear the positive parts? I understand why people hate on Lars and Nickelback etc. Lars because he doesn't do extravagant complex drumming, but if he did do that, Metallica would not be METALLICA as we know it!! Nickelback, I understand why the hate started but can not understand why people still say they hate them yet have only heard like 3 songs ever. It is because many of their songs do follow a formula of structure...Shock horror! Most songs do!! lol Some stray a little here and there, but most of theirs do not stray as far. That is all! They are great musicians in their instruments, quite a few of their songs are very bloody good! Their cover of Metallica's Sad But True is so good that it is a shame that Chad doesn't use his metal voice more on THEIR songs!!

Lars is a good drummer. It's just that people compare him to his early days and he really is a shadow of his former self. For example, there are a lot of songs in which he constantly changes up the fills and fans are used to listening to the studio versions and feel weird. Not using the double bass in some parts of certain songs when the original versions used double bass. Sometimes playing fills (different from studio versions) that sound like way too much for the song that they're playing. I've seen them live and I understand the complaints. All that and people like to compare him to other drummers from his generation who have mostly improved, not gotten worse over the years. Example: Dave Lombardo. So it's a meme, but I don't think that they're wrong. When you have fans that play an instrument they tend to get nitpicky over a lot of things. But people still have to consider that age does affect people's ability eventually. Drumming is the most physically demanding and as expected he is slowing down. People don't think in how people will get old and that they won't stay the same.

The thing is at the end of the day all Lars has to do is look at his haters and say I'm Lars Ulrich one of the founding members and the drummer for fucking Metallica tell me again how to be a successful drummer and musician??? 🤔😏😎

It´s a 1959 Les Paul Standard that was previously owned by Fleetwood Mac founder Peter Green and, subsequently, by his disciple, Irish rocker Gary Moore. Hammett, a fan of both guitarists, purchased the guitar for a reported $2 million.

I love your reactions. So glad you found Metallica.
Metallica is an amazing band live, but that is because they are a triple platinum band in the studio. In one of your videos, you said you felt like you were missing something. If you react to the official video/original recording you will not miss the changes in timing, rhythm, notes left out and some of the lyrics left out. The structure of the song is just more solid, and it is easier to stay in the groove, half the fun of metal is jumping around, and or "banging your head".😅
Musicians who tour as much as Metallica does change the way they play the song live. They are entertaining you, trying to just hang out with the fans and play some music. They are not trying to play the song as true to the original as possible because they want to give you something a bit different, they assume you have heard the original a million times. They also have to save energy if they want to do a three or more-hour show. Many of their songs take a lot of energy, playing "Master of puppets" perfect like the original recording would be enough to wear any accomplished musician out.😅
Metallica is one of those rare bands that has at least 1 "Masterpiece" per album, usually 3, and some fans will tell you they are all masterpieces! 😄 I have a long list of Metallica favorites, but if I had to choose just one, I personally love "Orion" a metal/bluesy instrumental from the Master of Puppets album. Enjoy your journey, I hope you find endless streams of beautiful music! 😀

this is my favorite "ballad" of theirs. it isn't in the purest definition, as it becomes very powerful and aggrevated in the end in some way ... but the line "I was me, but now he's gone" just hits home how I sometimes feel.
and about lars: he made me pick up drums in the first place, so he saved me. he's a genius arranger of many-many songs of metallica. he's a unique guy / character, true to himself and the band. metallica wouldnt be what metallica is today, and I wouldnt be playing drums if it wasn't for him. so that's two big positives for me when it comes to lars. :)

Lars isn't the easiest man around, personally and profesionally, but he's a perfectionist and together with James founder of Metallica! More then once they collided seriously wich often led to almost the band spliting up, but it never happened. James also had a serious time troubles with depression and lack of inspiration..., but hey, they're still here after all those years (41), still making the greatest metal around and hopefully for many years to come! They wrote a part of musical history...

Great job, girl! I will suggest Halloween or Keeper of the seven keys by Helloween (United Alive 2017). Angra is a Brazilian band that you can do something (maybe Temple of Hate, Black Widow's Web, Rebirth or Stand Away). Another suggestion: The Scarecrow by Avantasia.
Thanks a lot for your reaction! =)

As always iI love your reactions. Not only your comments but also the language of your eyes. Matallica has wroten such great songs. Short note from me:
What was Fade to Black written about?
The lead singer of the band, James Hetfield, explained that his mother had a hand in helping him pay for an amplifier. Before this album was released his mother passed away and shortly after that amplifier was stolen. “Fade to Black” focuses on a person who has decided the life they are living is not worth the fight.
    Greetings from this old metalhead.

Watched an interview with the band and James said individually none of us are the best at singing or playing. But together they work to me and many others they are perfect. I got tickets to see them in august in PA, a long drive from NC.

You should really check out their live performance of The Thing That Should Not Be from the show in Seattle in 1989 when Jason Newstead was the bassist. Heavy as all hell. Serious headbanging you will do.

These guys don't get enough credit for their musicianship and technical skills. I have seen them live, where the opening band was so loud that you couldn't distinguish one instruments from another or hear the vocals. Metallica came on and actually turned down their volume to serve the acoustics of the venue. They were still loud, as a band named Metallica should be, but I could hear every instrument and all the vocals.

Kirk Hammett is playing Gary Moore's guitar, "Greenie" that once also belonged to Peter Green, of Fleetwood Mac. He paid at least 2.1 million for it, but there are rumors it was a 10 million dollar bid at auction, that beat a 2 million bid. That's US dollars, not Pesos.

  • @seanmcdonald6403
    @seanmcdonald6403 ปีที่แล้ว

FYI… that guitar that Kirk is playing is worth an incredible amount of money. It’s known as “Greeny”. Long history behind it. It’s a ‘59 Les Paul and the neck pickup is wired backwards which gives it a very unique sound when played with the pickup switch in the middle position. Kirk bought it for less than $500K but if it went on auction tomorrow it would arguably be worth $2M or more. Originally owned by Peter Green of John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers and Fleetwood Mac fame. Gary Moore had it for many years afterwards. If you are into guitar virtuosos watch some Gary Moore videos, especially “Still got the blues” which shows how incredible the guitar sounds. One of the best guitarists to ever pick up the instrument and yet relatively unknown these days outside of the blues guitar community. Keep on rockin girl! 🤘😈🤘

I like Lars too. I think with Metallica the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Their first 4-5 albums were filled with hits. They are certainly my favorite metal band, and I would venture to guess they are most people's favorite as well.

Do Orion next. It's one of the greatest instrumentals ever created. Don't be turned away because it's an instrumental, their guitars do the singing.
