YES. So it wasn’t just me who felt that. Koraidon’s my fav legendary fs now, and I’m so glad I chose to play scarlet
i don't really feel invested and connected with the legendary in the previous games. after i use them in a few battles i would immediately box them but miraidon and koraidon were different. they really made them immersive by making them our ride pokemons and being an essential part of the whole story. i love this gen's legendary (even though they're really just the paradox of cyclizar)!
i love how this is a complete flip of a standard sentient ai trope. its a common trope for sentient ai's in stories to go to extreme lengths to accomplish a goal given to them, and their human creator wishing for them to stop. flip the roles, and you have sada willing to do anything to keep her dream alive while her ai creation of herself wishes for her to stop, realizing that what shes doing is dangerous.
I feel like S/V is like either no.1, or .2 storywise. It feels less like your Brilliant Diamond, ruby sapphire manafactured story that you can predict the moment the game starts. With legends arceus, and s/v I feel like story is actually part of the plot, and the ending would actually give you feels.
Obsession is a very human trait. Humans often lack the ability to see beyond the scope of their dreams. It's certainly an interesting contrast.

Gotta feel bad for Arven. Bro was trying to save his partner's life the entire game and immediately after he succeeds he finds out his mom is dead. Even though the game tried to end it on a happy note Arven's story really is a tragedy with no real happy ending. Also props to Game Freak for finally having a character actually die in a game.
When I stop to really think about it, I can't help but find it funny that the professors were advertised as a deciding factor of which version to pick, only for them to be dead for the entirety of the game.
The true happy ending were the friends he made along the way :)

I love that Koraidon is a character with an actual personality, not just some all powerful creature with destructive capabilities. It loves sandwiches, is sort of silly at times, and acts like a big dog (evidence: it does the think where a dog will push its head into your hand)
The only other legendary that we got that formed such a close bond like that was in Sun and Moon. But it was with Lillie then with us.
Its cries sound kinda like cat trills too, at least to me.

One of my favourite things about the Zero Lab is you can find photos of Arven as a young boy with Mabosstif as a Maschiff on the large whiteboards where the professor has their research pinned on. And if you get the angle right, you can see the photos and they’re adorable

The difference between you and other poketubers is that you’re so passionate about the story, you analyze everything to the minimum detail and that is something I love about yourself, keep it up bro.
Arven has to be one of the top, if not, most tragically-written character from the pokemon series. Since his birth, Arven was raised on his own with his partner pokemon and a mom/dad (whichever, depending on the version) deeply engrossed in their line of work. Growing up, his mom/dad eventually drifted away, leading him to think they neglected him when in actuality, they passed away protecting the box legendary in an accident. This entire time, Arven has been thinking his mom/dad was still alive and not caring towards him. This leaves to his Mabosstiff becoming the only family he has left, which later on ended up falling gravely ill due to an incident in Area Zero. Shortly after his encounter with the S/V main protagonist and help from them in obtaining the medicine needed to treat his partner, the protagonist is reached out by Professor Sada, his mom. While the two carry on with the tasks given to them, it turns out that his mom wasn't actually his real mom, but rather an AI-powered robot she created. Then said robot tried to kill the protagonist with him and his friends as a security protocol. To prevent her time machine from functioning, her AI version opted to time travel to the past, permanently erasing what was left of Professor Sada.
Sheesh, no wonder Arven came off as a troubled guy, dude is traumatized from thinking his mom/dad abandoned him and had to deal with his dying partner pokemon by himself, only for him to learn later on that his mom/dad has been dead for years and was replaced by an AI-robot for the time being.

The professor died right before the opening cut scene, when the ride Pokémon fled area zero. Arven would have met both parent and AI if his Pokémon didn’t get hurt. He was so close to seeing them alive and possibly being killed along with them too.
@@brandonthompson1856 From what I understood the professor died a while ago, Arvin told that few years back they stopped sending letters. Before the cut scene there was a territorial fight among the two legendaries, which our one lost.
And I think Arven didn't get any real closure. He would have had a lot of things he wanted to say to his Dad/Mom but can't because they died. While he does comes to pursuing a dream post game, he doesn't get to say everything he wanted to say to the parent who neglected him.
Its sad that in a single frame in 35:53 it’s says “AI Sada has no intention of fighting any more”

Awesome catch, never noticed. It's really clever how they made the text swap back and forth (with this one message in a single frame), reflecting the conflict between AI Sada and the programmed Paradise Protection Protocol.
Even seeing the scene again and I still got teary, at a freakin Pokémon game man…
Same, I legitimately cried when I played it. I played Violet version and since I hardly knew my father who also passed away, it touched some scars. Poor Arvin! Kudos to Game Freak, they actually made Pixar worthy storyline and SV will be a very special game for me.
What sucks is this has to be one of if not THE BEST storylines in the main line pokemon games (imo) but most people are just complaining about the graphics/glitches (and not even in a “the developers were overworked and should’ve been given more time” sort of way, which is valid and important to say, but in a “this game sucks” sort of way).
The characters were all really compelling and I can’t remember I time I felt this connected to the Pokémon game characters. I legitimately teared up during the cut scene where Mabosstiff finally stood up. And the final scene of the team star storyline? AGH IT WAS AMAZING!!

Graphics are great, framerate issues were annoying but they didn’t effect my gameplay. People were complaining about the graphics while I was enjoying the game

Also, in the beginning of the game when Sada/Turo says they are no longer capable of taking care of Koraidon/Miraidon is foreshadowing as they literally can't since they're already dead at that point
I believe that's just after the point when they died. If Koraidon/Miraidon ran away because of the dispute, it can be assumed that that was the accident in the opening cut scene.

Scary because for a moment I actually thought she would jump off the platform and self-terminate to stop the time machine, but that would be too dark I later realized.
Also she supposedly did not have the code to do so anyway.
That was absolutely fantastic! Broke my heart when the glitching battle text said: "AI Sada has no intention of fighting any more!" AHHHH my heart! T-T
A youtube comment in another video pointed out how the whole "Treasure Hunt" thing is pained in a positive light. But the Professor's sort of a dark mirror with their treasure. Their treasure could have put so much more at risk, and they even lost their own life.
I saw people say this games story wasn’t that crazy or weighty as Pokémon games usually aren’t … but man I gotta fully disagree. I don’t think I’ve ever been so invested in a Pokémon storyline! This was legit some hearty and emotional stuff man!
Besides Sword and Shield and excluding remakes, every pokemon game since Sun and Moon has arguably had a really good story (SM/USUM/PLA/SV)
@@kristiano100 Main series Pokemon games with great stories was the Black and White games, Sun and Moon games and Scarlet and Violet games. All of the other games treat the story more so as a side job with the main focus being gym badges and elite four.

@@lusciouslocks8790 The Looker stuff is short and post game, but I love it anyway. Anyway, it doesn't compensate the rest of the story.
The AZ stuff is told in two minutes and while it is beautiful told and helps the lore a lot, it is told in a weird place on the story, like they decided to shove it in there randomly. AZ matters, lore-wise, but story-weise, you see hem three times and his appearances are very short

Best storyline since Gen 5 I haven't got invested in characters this much since N. Nemona is a friendly rival done right you look at Penny & she is someone that screams being a easy target for bullies it kind of amazing that Game Freak made good lore about a Academy. Arven might be one of the saddest characters in the series he deep down never his mom/dad depending on the version & to find out that an AI was in place of them due to them being murdered by whatever box legendary you pick it heartbreaking. Now their intentions are very similar to villains of the past of not caring about the world as long as their twisted desires becoming a reality, but there was some good in them protecting the good box legendary from the rogue murderous one only for them to get killed. The AI's theme which Toby Fox DNA all over it is easily one of the best battle themes in the series looking forward to when Pokeremixers remix this track.
@@yandiandifan3690 Clavell was a stronger trainer than any of the rivals or even the Elite 4. Sadly, Geeta is a pushover. The E4 was harder than her.

Ok ok wait wait... the idea that arven's parents are ALWAYS Turo and Sada, regardless of version, makes some insanely compelling implications. It explains where the other parent went, how the crossplay mechanic that allows the player to get the paradox-mons of the other game makes canonical sense, and how the machine ACTUALLY works. It might not be just a time machine...it might connect the split timelines that have been made in the pokemon universe.

@@pencilcheck okay so, using what ttar proposed (that Sada and Turo are always Arven's parents regardless of version), we can assume that these games are parallel universes with the main diverging point being Heath's travel into the crater and the creation of the book that encourages the version specific professor to pursue their goal of accessing the future/past to produce the world described in the book.
The only thing that would change between the games then, would be what Heath wrote about in the book (and assumedly what he found in the crater). Now we put a pin in this detail...the game's mechanic to capture the version specific paradox pokemon of the opposite game yourself is to play with someone who has the opposite game and enter their game, but ALL of the paradox pokemon are in the pokedex of both games (#376-387). Unlike the version specific pokemon of previous version (like UBs), these pokemon simply do not exist at the present time... but you can catch them plain as day in front of you when you play with a buddy? The only way this would make sense is if the crossplay capability somehow connects the universes where time travel is specifically UNIDIRECTIONAL according to the professor (this is most likely some unforeseen outcome of the time machine).
Side note: This also likely extends to the pokemon from Hisui which would have come through the pokemon Scarlet time machine. More detailed pokedex entries exist for hisuian pokemon because they existed fairly recently compared to the ancient pokemon. In short, Turo's time machine goes to the future and Sada's goes to the past... the only way to get a full dex of pokemon that shouldn't exist presently, is if both worlds were connected during crossplay.
Last detail to support this theory: Arven exists in both and is physically identical. Even when you play together, theres are not 2 Arvens (nor are their duplicate important npcs). This is a genetic impossibility if he didn't have both professors as parents (and the devs did introduce the premise of relevant familial resemblance in Legends: Arceus).

It’s not like she _could_ display emotion. Even with her moral divergence, she’s essentially a robot.
And she was always that physically rote. Perhaps the game’s standard animation practices made that easier to overlook.

I think the 3 mentioned in Sada's diary is supposed to be herself, her husband, and Arven. As you can see from the timeline in the diary, when she wrote this part, Koraidon hasn't been summoned to the present yet. Then it's impossible for her to know Koraidon will come, let alone write it in her diary.

I think the AI professor having a different point of view about the time machine from the original professor makes sense. Even if we assume the duplication of the professor’s mind was 100% effective and the AI really does think like a human (which we know isn’t true because of AI Sada talking about her programming that cannot be overwritten, but I’m including this for the sake of argument), that only creates two identical professors for a split second, and after that they start becoming different as their own experiences change how they see things and what they know. After seeing herself get killed by Koraidon, and managing the Zero Lab for a few years afterwards and how much havoc is wrought, it makes sense that Sada would come to a different conclusion from the one the original had before she died.
I'm sad that its over, but this game was an awesome roller coaster for sure!

BW is still up there for me. Hopefully they do a remake in the next year or two, with open-world aspects like SV, and well executed plot like in the original or better.
Only then I can decide which story is better :D.
Regardless, Gen 5 and Gen 9 definitely got the peak stories in pokemon. I think most can agree to this

This ending is literally the only climax & interesting part. B/W still holds the title due to the story building up to it. SV everything just went into the end.

THIS IS IT. GAMEFREAK, NINTENDO, YOU DID IT. GAME OF THE YEAR IN MY HEART.
Sassy? The only AI that I’d outright call “sassy” is GLaDOS, and that’s mostly because she was forced to become one.
The part I found refreshing (with Turo’s equivalent) is that an AI with a given mission isn’t bound to it, realizing that letting it play out would cause more overall harm than good, and actively helping someone else bring it to an end.

Honestly one of my favorite stories in a Pokémon game the way they set up the twist was super well done and the characters were all great
100% agreed I haven’t had this much fun with a Pokémon game in awhile since Omega ruby and Sun and moon the story the character and the writing for the story for Pokémon scarlet was so good absolutely love this game this is what Pokémon has needed a good story with good characters and good storytelling and that’s not what Pokémon Sword and shield had this game is far times better than sword and shield imo for story wise and characters

Honestly, the rival interactions might be the best I’ve seen.
Voice acting would've made it 420% better. Weird to read banters rather than hearing them.
@@bukojoetheslapsoils8273 Not really. The voice acting is for games with real major drama in them, to really invoke the emotion. Something like Fire Emblem Three Houses really needs voice acting because of the big emotional scenes.
90% of Pokemon's storyline is goofy and overall silly, which people can't really take all that seriously. Even Cyrus' banter of removing emotion, or Lusamine disowning her kids, isn't anything all that big.
Only way you can make a Pokemon game really serious is if you pull them into a very linear route, and practically have the game be more revolved around the other characters, rather than the player themselves.
@@datemasamune2904 I don’t think that’s a good defence for not having any voice acting. Voice acting would still improve it a lot, even just grunts and short voice clips. Ocarina of Time did it 20 years ago and Breath of the Wild just moved to partial voice acting, so I really don’t see why Pokemon can’t implement it on some level.
@@nineteenseventyfive6709 Because Legend of Zelda is a more action oriented game, and the voice acting helps provide the energy needed to compliment that. Compared to Pokémon where most of the action and energy is around the Pokémon themselves, rather than the trainers. It kinda seems unnecessary when you put in the fact that the Pokémon are the focus, and not the trainers themselves.
@@datemasamune2904 You’re still not really making an effective case against including voice acting in these games, just explaining why the games don’t suffer much for not having it…
I personally thing the game’s story quality would improve a lot if there was voice acting, even if it’s not really necessary. The only possible downside I could see is that it’s harder to ignore if you aren’t interested.

Feels like yesterday when I'd binged the hell out of this series. Now I get to see you hyped as hell at the ending. What a journey Scarlet was
The end credits made me cry when I finished the game. The beautiful song mixed with the bittersweet feeling of our journey being over, plus Arven's story line. It all just hit me at once. This is my first ever Pokemon game and it was such an amazing first experience.
In the Japanese version, the professor's final line is "Bon voyage", which I think is a much better version than the English version's "Adieu". Definitely wish the English localization kept the "Bon VOYAGE" since it fits SO well with the rest of the story (remember that we have Victory ROAD, PATH of Legends, Starfall STREET and The WAY Home)
I'm amazed by how accurately you called it! It didn't click at all that there was AI involved until I actually entered the final lab. I started to suspect that the real sada was indisposed or possibly dead when i saw the journals of her wishing there were 2 of her and commenting that her assistant is perfect. I thought the sada who was talking to us was a clone. hahaha!

When I was playing, I was kinda blindsided by my desire to deck her the moment I saw her and therefore missed any and all hints of her being dead/an AI. My brain couldn't quite consider the possibility of her being anything other than alive so the _shock_ I undergone during the reveal was unparalleled.
My reaction was similar to Kirsten’s above, where it didn’t even occur to me that she might be dead or anywhere other than in Area Zero! In fact, when I first saw her as a robot in that room, I first considered that Arven’s mom was just a robot his whole life before considering that she might be dead and the AI a mere creation! 😅
I cried too. I cried for Koraidon, for Arven, and for the AI.
No joke I was similar to TTAR where in the start of the game, I was a bit suspicious of Sada (or Turo if you are playing Violet but since I played Scarlet. It’s Sada for me) since before the end of the game. You only saw her via TV screen (when you first went to the school) or on your Phone (after you beat each Titan) and although previous Professors did the similar thing (for example Professor Juniper in the Unova games) but with previous professors usually at some point you see them in person on your adventure but Sada on the other hand. Hey it’s a bit odd she never showed her in person, either she got trapped in the past and you have to save her or she dead.
They really made the message that the real treasure was the friends we made along the way

Most people consider treasures to be money, gold, diamonds, jewel's, expensive possessions. But the greatest treasures are the friends you make that eventually become your family. Why? Because they can laugh with you, cry with you, be happy and share joy with you. Money, gold, diamonds, jewel's, expensive possessions can't do that. A wonderful adventure. Can't wait to finish it myself.
IMO this is one of the best games when it comes to the story cant wait for GF to pull another one on the same level

@@V-Jes i got introduced to the pokemon games very late in 2018 and in 2019 i achieved smartphone so i played gen 3 and after that i played gen 5 and was really impressed with details and music and many other stuffs
And still to this date gen 5 is my most played pokemon game(replayed) not counting rom hacks

So the Professors are extremists who want to use the time machines at any cost to bring the Paradox Pokemon to the present (and the cost was their lives when they were mauled by said Paradox Pokemon), and the AIs are sentient enough to realize "what the fuck why do you want this it'll cause the goddamn apocalypse" and they attempt to fight against the programming. You even get a brief flash of "AI SADA/TURO HAS NO INTENTION OF FIGHTING ANYMORE" when the text screen goes all glitchy and shit before they use the box legendary.
This was seriously the saddest and best written main game story Pokemon has ever written. The fact that Arven didn't even had the chance to say goodbye to his mom is just so heartbreaking....
In Violet I was sure his dad traveled to the future, as he mentioned that a person couldn't come back if tried. I went in sure Arvin will have his chance to talk to his dad, it will be sad, because he couldn't meet him if he didn't travel too, but he'll have his closure.
The moment I found out he's actually been dead for those Arvin's lonely years and he doesn't know it yet, it made my heart break. There was never a chance for a closure.
Ok gamefreak. You did a good job with the story on this one. Legends Arceus and S/V have been amazing. Amazing final battles and characters!
I might sound like a wuss. But that ending cutscene with your buds made me tear up. I got mad emotional. Lol.
That last ending cutscene was so sweet and heartwarming.
Ttar, don´t forget that you can still catch the 4 legendaries and Rematch all Gym leaders at higher levels.
Also, your voice is so nice, it felt so comfortable to listen the story while you were narrating
Imagine if the time machine can be used to go to Hisui to help Ingo, then again if you can't go back you can have Dialga or Celebi do get you home

Damn this Pokémon game is SO FREAKIN GOOD. That ending shook me to my core. I was so shocked to learn that Sada/Turo is actually an AI and the real one is dead. That makes me so sad tbh. I didn't really expect them to be an AI, I just thought that all that robot text was coming from a speaker or something, not them. I don't think that made sense but I hope you understand what I'm saying. I kinda thought at first that the original professor is stuck somewhere and the AI version of them is trying to save them and thats why they needed our help. But oh man was I wrong. I love this game, it's story and the characters so god damn much. It makes me so sad that others are complaining as usual and letting the bugs and issues overlook the good parts of the game. It's understandable for people to complain about bugs and performance issues but that shouldn't affect their opinion on the game. The issues didn't bother me as much and I still had a blast playing the game. When will people just be happy with the games? I swear... Pokémon fans can be the worst. I'm gonna go on a rant here. I legit hate Pokémon fans so much. Not all of them are bad but most of them are. Every single time a new game is announced, people ALWAYS have something to complain about and it makes me so mad. It's like these people will never be satisfied with any of the games. There's always something that they dislike or have a problem with. I feel like all this complaining ruins the fun of the games. I just want to have a great time and enjoy this hype season but it's hard when there's people being like "EWWW THE GRAPHICS LOOK SO BAD I HATE THIS GAME I AINT GONNA PLAY IT. YOURE STINKY GAMEFREAK I HATE YOU GROSS BLEH. POKEMON SUCKS ITS GETTING WORSE WJSOIGNKKD." When will this ever stop? Probably never. In my opinion, I think the games keep getting better and better. The games are evolving, some people are too stubborn to admit it. Yes maybe the graphics aren't the best things ever but I think it's a huge upgrade from SwSh, you have to admit that. I just want people to stop being so picky and enjoy Pokémon the way that it is. Stop judging the graphics so much and have fun! The graphics don't have to be super good for the game to be good. This isn't a PS5 game or whatever. I just hope one day we can all have fun and just enjoy the games and people won't complain so much but I don't think that'll ever happen. I'm just glad that Thamill is having a blast, it makes me happy to see him happy. I was so excited to see his reaction to the story. I'm sorry for the long comment. I’m gonna say this, the final fight against Robo Sada was insane. Not to mention her theme song when you fight her is awesome! The craziest part is that when she got out her last Pokémon which is like a past version of Salamance, I was like oh crap it’s boosting it’s attack power cause half of my team was weak to ground cause it has Earthquake. So I brought out Cassidy the Ampharos to paralyze it but it out speeds me since Ampharos isn’t good at speed thus was about to one shot my Pokémon. But a miracle happened, Cassidy survived at 1 HP due to spending time with her a lot and maxing out her friendship and landed the Thunder Wave. But since she was low on health I have no choice but to heal one of my Pokémon so that Pokémon which is my Tsereena to use Reflect so physical moves don’t do a lot of damage. And when that Pokémon called Roaring Moon used Earthquake again, Cassidy the Ampharos survived with 1 HP again as she is saying, “I got this Bianca! I won’t let you down!” So I clicked Dazzling Gleam and boom, Roaring Moon was one shot! I won! I was completely shocked and amazed Cassidy survived like a champ taking down that dangerous Pokémon all because she really loves me a lot due to the times I play with her and other things to make her happy. I was literally bursting into tears that Cassidy the Ampharos pulled through for me and kicked ass in the end. The reason why I named my Ampharos Cassidy is because of my youngest sister with the same name. That’s the reason I always named my female Ampharos Cassidy cause when I think of Ampharos, I think of my wonderful youngest sister. Like Ampharos, my sister has a strong and beautiful light that guides our family back together as a sign that we will always be together no matter what happens. All the reason why Ampharos will always be my most favorite Electric Pokémon it’s because it will always remind me of my sister, Cassidy.☺️

Man. I hope they keep up this way of storytelling. Actually well written characters, a well written story which got fairly serious towards the end. I also adored the little interactions between Arven, Nemona and Penny while moving. I just wish there was a dub I could listen to. The experience would have enhanced by a lot. Of course the graphics left much to be desired and the performance was horrendous but this, hands down, is the best mainline Pokemon game.

32:16 I know this is a bug, but something about Roaring Moon entering the field not roaring as it should, but instead comes out of the master ball in silence as the music raises like that, and then the Booster Energy goes off gave it a rather intimidating vibe and that is cool

This was one of my favorite series i watched Ttar play and that ending gave me a tear running down my face. Such a good game can't wait to play it.

Here’s an interesting idea: if Sada and Turo are Arven’s parents in both games, what if in a dlc we get to see the other one from your version (Turo in Scarlet and Sada in Violet) and see what they’re up to when they don’t become the time-obsessed professors they are in their correct games.
It would be amazing if for DLC we get more paradox pokemon that have escaped through the time machine but have yet to be encountered. Perhaps they may reside in an uncharted area of the paldea region (an extension of area zero).
In my opinion this game has the best stories in any pokemon game I've played. I hope they make dlc but if they dont I'm ok with it
