I know this video is old but it's nice to see what HAS been implemented since the launch. Item Printer makes it really simple to get Ability Patches and Capsules in abundance, especially if you're just trying for other items, so it saves me time from doing raids. Though, now I'm sad I was selling them after shiny hunts when I could have saved them!!! Still no rusty bottle cap though, but the IV judge function CAN be accessed earlier in game, but not the same game. It's a lot of extra steps, but since Pokemon Home is available for a basic plan for free, you can still check their IV values this way. I was doing this for nearly a year before I actually sat down and finished the game. Also with the DLC, you can get a Reset Mochi (it's white like the punching bag in super training was) to reset IVs. So yeah, there really isn't one concise way to access all of this free-to-play but it is out there.
I picked this up to play while waiting for Engage, haven't played a new Pokémon game since Black. Feeling totally overwhelmed, it's a lot, so thanks for the video.
Had NO idea about this egg move thing, that's amazing!! But also feel like I might have missed shinies since I was expecting the sound effects and sparkle!!
I'm new to the franchise in relation to how long the francise exists (started with Arceus) so I'm sad they don't show the shinys as clearly. The first one I ran into was a shiny Marill which I only recognized because it was bright green instead of blue. It's not so easy with some of them where the color differs only a little bit. But the tip for saving right when you see one, and the fact you can "check" for shinys by sending your pokemon out to see if it fights them, is really helpful! I'll definitely use that going forward.
This is a very useful and informative video. I got the game recently and just have 2 gym badges, so I appreciate this video a lot. It's just a bonus that you didn't spoil the game for me too!!! Thank you!!!

100% agree with you 5 item wish list. but especially the first 4 because the 5th one is a dream that we’ll keep dreaming, the other 4 are actual good QOL changes that should happen… and IMO should have happened in this gen. especially the EV resetting WITHOUT berries that was unfortunately locked behind paid DLC in SwSh
Just joined. Love your clarity and detail. I often leave a video with questions and wanting to know more related things. You killed it all in one video. As much as i appreciate it maybe it hurts overall channel viewership because then everyone is only watching one video not 3 or how ever many. Just a thought. But i do appreciate you.
The good news is that I think this video did so well is because its so long, and people watch most of it. Its one of my best performing videos ever in terms of watch time, views, and revenue. The TH-cam algorithm loves videos that keep people's attention, and I personally prefer making things like this... rather than stretching one piece of info out to 8-10 minutes.
I just bought pokemon violet and played maybe an hour and I love it so far. After watching this video I'm absolutely shocked with how much has been added to the games. I haven't played any pokemon games since r/b/y and g/s/c originally came out over 20 years ago. I'm using emulators to revisit those as well as to get the chance to play the games I was never able to but I didn't want to wait to dive into this one.
My first time seeing your stuff, but the TH-cam Spirits sent you my way. THANK YOU for doing this video with NO SPOILERS. I won't even look anything up about this game because no one seems to give a crap about spoiling stuff anymore. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. This was excellent material, and I am grateful.
Actually, I've found that you CAN change the auction items. The trick is that you have to close your game THEN change the date and load back in, the items will have refreshed. For some reason it doesn't work if the game is still running. But I skipped ahead 5 days and got new items every time until I got a Cracked Pot for my Sinistea. Only to find a Chipped Pot near one of the shrines 20 minutes later of course, but still 🤦♂️😆 Great video. Anyone unfamiliar with just how much is going on within any Pokemon game would likely feel overwhelmed with what to do, can't recommend enough that people actually do the classes at the Academy if they're a beginner player, as they go over some seriously helpful stuff.
Also a stupid thing I noticed is that I traded Pokemon with my partner for items when we only had 2 badges and when they returned, they counted as TRADED Pokemon despite having our Trainer IDs assigned to them, so they stopped obeying us until we got more badges. Definitely frustrating for sure 😓
Very thankful for this video, as I've just begun my playthrough and was having trouble as a casual looking through all the new and open-world stuff. Subbed!
🤯NO FREAKING WAY! I thought the egg moves we're just something I missed out on. So happy to learn that it isn't. I've got so many pokemon to change up now. Thanks Papa Jefé!
Holy cow, single most useful video for this game. Thank you. Also thanks for putting "spoiler free" in the thumbnail, otherwise I would've skipped it for now since I'm not quite 100% through the story. I haven't hunted shinies in SV (yet), but I've gotten one full odds shiny. I was walking through a field and whoa that Skwovet is red. Also, 🤯 I had no idea about egg move passing in either SwSh or here. Mildly annoying since I just finished breeding for an egg move when I could've transferred it quicker.
you are now my favorite pokemon guy. thank you very much. i will watch this video quite a few times. to learn all this information. This will be the first pokemon i hard core complete and compete with. im excited!
Very useful video, thanks a lot for the work! A small tip for future videos, you should look into getting a pop filter for your microphone, alternatively recording not directly into the membrane. Your plosive sounds are a bit harsh here and there.
Thank you so much for making this video, ive had so many questions about the game but didn't wanna look up anything out of fear of spoilers so I really appreciate this, liked and subbed
Honestly, at 2:35 aprox, you don't even need the Ultra PB Sandwich, the Great version also works. I know this because i have made a LOT of Great tiered Sandwiches and they still give you Egg Power 2
I’m still new so this video went over my head haha but I’m sure it’ll be very useful in the future. Thank you! (I tend to play this game to get the best team and get all the Pokémon haven’t tried delving into comp but would be open to it)
very informative, thank you. your guide just pop up from my random video. I was just about to start the game and this vid was amazing. earned my sub. i hope your will be noticed sometime soon so that your channel will grow! thank you
Really Good stuff! Thanks! 💫 Just a quick note for 5:28 (hope it helps ) - We Competitives on the Circuit like to just label the verb as ''Tera ('d / 's)''. So: ''yeah, my Fairy type Tera'd into a Steel type mwhahuahaha!1''
I havent played a pokemon since the black and white series. Scarlet is the first new game i've picked up and i feel so new to everything again (especially the new pokes and fairy type). Thank you for this
Ah I remember my first Shiny on Scarlet. I was just casually running by to get one of the titans and seen a Altaria and a bunch of swablu and all of the sudden from the back of the crowd emerged a yellow swablu. She made a Beautiful Altaria and is still in my party to this day.
thank you for the helpful tips! the one about the sandwiches really helped me, cus i didn't know you could breed in this game nd i was really excited when i started doing it! :D
Thank you SO MUCH for this and for keeping spoilers to a minimum! I'm taking my time through the game but have been curious about how Terra works exactly, how Shinies work, ect
Thank you for this! I flew through my first playthrough for the story and now I’m doing to do a “real” playthrough and actually take my time and enjoy the game and invest in all the mechanics
I’ve been considering buying this game, and have been curious about all the new things since I haven’t been keeping up with Pokémon. Thanks for the tips!!
Sir your really good at what you do. I beat the game end game have every pokemon. But I still love seeing people have there own interactions and what they say. I love this video you even game me a few tips in the beginning. Ty
lol I found that trick at 3:14 myself, too. Managed to capture a scyther that was just low enough to obey me and a bunch of other pokemon, which gave crazy exp and strong pokemon early on.
Great video and I learned a lot. I'd say one thing in the video is slightly misleading though. You say after you get through all the school stuff the whole map is unlocked for you; that's not really true since there are places locked behind progression.
2:09 from what I've heard and seen, you actually no longer need breeding items. So breeding an Azumarill will always result in Azurill even without the incense, for example
Really good video. I'm not interested in shiny pokemon hunting, but I understand why people do -- that pretty blue shiny impidimp I randomly found made me feel so good. And I hadn't known about the pokedex rewards. To my knowledge picnicking is mainly for trying to find specific types of pokemon right? Anyways, you just earned a sub. Looks like good stuff hete
I really liked doing the titan Pokemon, so I did all five before completing a gym, not knowing that the fifth one is a level 55 Pokemon. All I had to do was get a breloom with toxic and quick claw, and reset until it worked out. Highly recommend, because being able to climb everything makes movement so much easier
I know my comment won’t get seen but there is a trick for shiny hunting Pokémon with barely visible shinys in sv, there will always only be 15 Pokémon on screen except for shinys, they don’t count to the 15 Pokémon so if your shiny hunting an outbreak of minior, slowpoke, leafeon or phanpy always count the Pokémon, if there’s 16 there will guaranteed be a shiny there :)

For sale auction items in Porto marinada, you can force them to change/update. Clear current auction items by either buying or forfeit, save and and change ONLY the time by 2hrs. When you start the game up they will have different items, and best part is, if you don't see what you want just restart there and upon loading they'll have different items.
I've actually never had an issue with finite TMs, as long as all of them were always infinitely obtainable in some way. I really think this game finally gets it right. One of the advantages to finite TMs was you could sell off ones you didn't care about. Not worth a ton of money, but it was something. I really hope this crafting system sticks around.
Raids are also among the best way to make money and all pokemon except the opposite version's exclusives, some postgame pokemon and the box legendaries show up in raid battles, including the 3 item/trade evolution pokemon and the special union square evolution. Edit: furthermore, the battle travel glitch can be used in NUMEROUS spots in the tutorial area, though the spot in the video is the easiest one to consistently do it in. It's possible to get access to the the lv5 Ghimmeghoul near the lighthouse by going down towards the sea and hugging the right wall until you reach a small slope that stops just short of the top of the plateau and starting a battle with a pokemon that can spawn there. Another spot is by the trees directly east of the pokecenter (the ones near the pond on the ridge where Sevipers can spawn) which gives you access to the East side of the map as well as the swamp and the Zone 5 pokecenter. Both locations require a bit more luck, but allow you to get several pokemon and TMs well before you should have legitimate access to them
@@ClownFish101 don't worry too much about all of this for first time through. Just enjoy the playthrough experience, and then when you're done with the standard adventure come back and check out more of the endgame raid/competitive based stuff. There's also the 2 DLCs which have their own activities and stories.

This video is super helpful and the quality is awesome. This channel is going places. I see it already.
Really an amazing video. Thank you for all the guides and overall for being such a positive force in this community
using this guide after beating the game, thank you!
Well I’ll be watching this video about 10 more times over the coming weeks as I jsut got into Pokemon Violet! Thank you for all of this. Liked/subscribed
Papá Jefe is the closest we get to a Pkmn Professor! The way he explains and covers things . . Get this man a lab coat!! Also i waited to get the jump for the ride pkmn and caught a lvl 19 Riolu and that will be with me until i get a shiny one
More like the closest we get to a Pokemon papa.
No, Norman doesn't count. Mofo had us stuffed in the back of a moving truck
I caught one before getting to the school by starting an encounter in area 4 and teleporting over there from area 1 early 😂
Amazing to see you put in the terrain skip, I figured it out on my own in my first play through but it def needs to be shown off!
Jefe, the vid quality is improving massively, the way you present, give suggestions etc. great to see!
Only to find a Chipped Pot near one of the shrines 20 minutes later of course, but still 🤦♂️😆
Great video.
The amount of detail and work you put in to this video is amazing
You really put in the time and effort. And are really clear on your information. Love this
you are now my favorite pokemon guy. thank you very much. i will watch this video quite a few times. to learn all this information.
Thanks! 💫
Just a quick note for 5:28 (hope it helps ) - We Competitives on the Circuit like to just label the verb as ''Tera ('d / 's)''. So: ''yeah, my Fairy type Tera'd into a Steel type mwhahuahaha!1''
EV Reducing berries are actually purchasable in bulk quantities of 50+ at the auction house.
yeah but its random, so you can't get the ones you want when you need em
I havent played a pokemon since the black and white series. Scarlet is the first new game i've picked up and i feel so new to everything again (especially the new pokes and fairy type).
Thank you for this
Just got the game for Christmas. Started today. This video is perfect. Liked and subbed. Thank you.
Ah I remember my first Shiny on Scarlet. I was just casually running by to get one of the titans and seen a Altaria and a bunch of swablu and all of the sudden from the back of the crowd emerged a yellow swablu. She made a Beautiful Altaria and is still in my party to this day.
incredibly useful. the sandwich strategies for this game are surprisingly deep
thank you for the helpful tips! the one about the sandwiches really helped me, cus i didn't know you could breed in this game nd i was really excited when i started doing it! :D
Wow that was a buttload of incredibly useful information stuffed into a 20 minute video. Thank you.
Really good video man, thanks ✨
Thank you SO MUCH for this and for keeping spoilers to a minimum! I'm taking my time through the game but have been curious about how Terra works exactly, how Shinies work, ect
Great video! This is the first Pokemon game I've ever played so I still confused as heck but this did clear up a lot of stuff.
Finally! I was waiting for this banger of a video. Thanks papajefe!
Thank you for this! I flew through my first playthrough for the story and now I’m doing to do a “real” playthrough and actually take my time and enjoy the game and invest in all the mechanics
GREAT video! Super informative and concise in an easy to digest way!
I’ve been considering buying this game, and have been curious about all the new things since I haven’t been keeping up with Pokémon. Thanks for the tips!!
this is definitely the best video i’ve seen for new players. thanks!
Super helpful and elaborate guide. Good stuff
Great video and I learned a lot. I'd say one thing in the video is slightly misleading though. You say after you get through all the school stuff the whole map is unlocked for you; that's not really true since there are places locked behind progression.
First 20+ minute youtube video that has held my attention the entire time, great video, great info. Time to go play some Pokemans 😎
As a 30 year old guy who's last game played was emerald, you sir are blowing my mind. Impressive dedication sir
Emerald was my favorite
Great video bro! Looking forward to your SV content!
Wow!!! I legit learn a lot in this video!! Ty for that amazing video bro!
2:09 from what I've heard and seen, you actually no longer need breeding items. So breeding an Azumarill will always result in Azurill even without the incense, for example
Amazing spoiler free guide. Thanks so much! Gotta go beat this story mode
Thank you so much, I had no idea about the milestones inside the dex!!! Appreciate you
I'm so new to this Pokémon but thank you so much for the tips. These are so so helpful.
Im 35 and losing my edge and my kids are dropping me fast 🤣 I needed a guide like this, def earned a sub and like
To be honnest big respect for playing games with your kids
I love this I watched this after I completed game and I still learned multiple things. Good Job :]
I saw you walking during the mirror herb part. Unlike the other games, it is instantaneously learned upon entering a picnic. No walking required.
I know my comment won’t get seen but there is a trick for shiny hunting Pokémon with barely visible shinys in sv, there will always only be 15 Pokémon on screen except for shinys, they don’t count to the 15 Pokémon so if your shiny hunting an outbreak of minior, slowpoke, leafeon or phanpy always count the Pokémon, if there’s 16 there will guaranteed be a shiny there :)
your comment has been seen.
i can also confirm this is true, lots of fun stuff like this discovered since launch!
Yippee my comment was seen :D
Thanks for this video it gives a lot of information. I didn't know most of these.
Oh i Remember the First Shiny Raid, i stayed up till 4 or 5 AM German Time with you Crossing Fingers for the Charizard to Shine, it was such a blast.
Miss you bud. Sorry our schedules don't really line up anymore! I'll try to stream more in my afternoons so you can make it
@@PapaJefeYT Oh i miss your streams too, could have catched some of the Violett Streams, but i was still on 3 Gyms 2 Stars and 2 Ruler on Sunday and i didnt wanted to get Spoilerd. Refreshed Twitch a bunch today hoping you would get Live becous i had an 31 0 31 31 X 31 Ditto raid on my Scarlet.
@@TheDarcaneify its Thanksgiving in the US today, so I'm with family. I'll be streaming a bunch this weekend though. Probably starting tomorrow afternoon
@@PapaJefeYT Oh... i always forget that Thanksgiving is a thing becous we dont celebrate it, sorry >-< But i have no work this Weekend, so i try to catch every stream!
I spent so much time making crazy looking sandwiches I forgot I was playing a pokemon game
Hi papa, you talked little about autobattles and i think there are a couple of things important like: schyter lose flying when you evolve it to scizor and you cant use it anymore on the sea to auto so getting a flyin poke at the start and keep it is a great advice imho, cheers
For sale auction items in Porto marinada, you can force them to change/update. Clear current auction items by either buying or forfeit, save and and change ONLY the time by 2hrs. When you start the game up they will have different items, and best part is, if you don't see what you want just restart there and upon loading they'll have different items.
My favorite part of that intro is 902 hrs and not completed pokedex. A man after my own heart.
Thanks for this. I just got the game for Xmas, and it was really helpful!
this is the best summary of the new stuff i have seen
Both locations require a bit more luck, but allow you to get several pokemon and TMs well before you should have legitimate access to them
I had no idea that they keep their original STABs if they terastallize to another type. That's extremely useful info!
Wow, this is so much great information! Thank you.
Thanks for this, super good info all in one place
14:40 you don't need to actually move the time, just go to it and hit ok when prompted with what you want to change it to
such a great video, as always, thank you mate
OMG, I’m getting back into pokemon after 15 years with violet. This is intense, I had no idea there is so much information and stuff to do.😅
@@ClownFish101 don't worry too much about all of this for first time through.
Just enjoy the playthrough experience, and then when you're done with the standard adventure come back and check out more of the endgame raid/competitive based stuff.
There's also the 2 DLCs which have their own activities and stories.
great video man, liked and subbed!
Man I really appreciate this earlier guide I haven't gotten the game yet now I don't need to watch a spoiler full guide
