So there's a neat little thing I'd like to draw attention to. During the sequence where AI Sada is taken over by the Paradise Protection Protocol and the text on the screen glitches out, for just a split second it has a hidden message that says "AI Sada has no intention of fighting anymore!"

I didn’t even notice that
This really was the "There's no way this is the ending to a Pokemon game" this is my favorite pokemon game in terms of story and characters, I'm actually impressed they pulled off an inverse to the trope of "AI goes crazy and attacks its creator" and instead the AI could see the actions of their creators were misguided by blinded dreams, and that ending hit right in the feels.
The AI was more the professor than the professor in the end.
I loved seeing you realize that Koraidon was able to battle - but there's some neat stuff if you don't do it immediately. If you do anything else - trying to fight, or switch Pokemon, use an item, or run - then it'll give a response as to why you can't, and your friends will give some unique dialogue... And each time you do it, Koraidon's menu option starts glowing brighter and brighter, and you can hear its cry faintly. The whole encounter is just so amazingly done.
Something i find interesting about the the story, specially in the victory road narrative, is that almost every character you face has a ocupation other than gym leader/elite four
Katy is a baker
Brassius is an artist
Kofu owns a restaurant
Iono is a streamer
Larry is a office worker
Ryme is a rapper
Tulip is a model/makeup artist
Grusha is a (retired) pro snowboarder
Rika is a secretary/interviewer at the league
Hassel is the art teacher at your school
And Poppy is a toddler so she doesnt have a job
This and the fact that a nice amount of these characters dont like geeta as a boss, implies that being a gym leader/elite 4 does not earn pay that much. Which might explain why the gym "arenas" are out wherever and the e4 room is quite bland, in comparison to sword and shield where the gym system is at it's peak and every battle of this type is in a huge atadium
After re-watching the ending, I also feel like La Primera was working with Sada thus backing the professor financially and cutting funds from the other pokemon facilitators that she can.
Larry isn't an office worker, his second job is being the e4 thus him to referring to Geeta as his boss during his e4 introduction
League also funds the academy - so a lot of the money goes to educate the kids and everyone doing all the cool stuff.
I also don't think it's necessary Geeta not funding anything on purpose. Remember like Pokecentres - League is also government funded. Especially the Elite 4 area went more for utility and resourcefulness. Gym staff buildings are easily recognisable and they usually use outside gym stadiums and challenges made specifically for the community or specific leader. Glaceado was straight up made just for Grusha, as there is no city around it. So there is budget.
Galarian League is actually a major exception, as Rose changed it into a sport festival spectacle - everything is funded by sponsors, fans and his company, which is not only a source of technology, but also it owns the power plants.
Then in all the other regions - most of the gyms are just local businesses or attractions or actual simple buildings.
I like how you noticed the small detail that the text box changes from “AI Sada” to “Professor Sada” during both battles, meaning that all of the taunts and threats are the words of the real professor, or her lingering memories/will at least.
Also, when the text is glitching before the second battle, for a couple frames, the text says “AI Sada has lost the will to fight”. It’s impossible to notice unless you go frame by frame.
Overall, I find Sada (or Turo if playing Violet) to be one of the more interesting Pokémon villains. Rather than being a moustache twirling Saturday morning cartoon villain like Ghetsis or Giovanni, she’s more of an example of someone who’s obsession with their childhood dream leads them to slowly losing their morals and humanity.
The journals show that she loved Arven and wanted to build a paradise for the three of them, but over time, she begins to neglect him, before fully ignoring him. She becomes isolated from human contact after her research team leaves (including Clavell and Arven’s other parent), and then builds an AI replica of herself (yet another step in her technically losing her humanity, especially when the AI is all that is left of her after the accident). Yet still pursuing her dream, knowing that it will lead to ecological disaster, she doesn’t care as long as she can fulfil her desire to learn the secrets of the ancient past.
Her insanity eventually develops the the point where she constructs defence systems that lock everyone’s Pokeballs but her own allowing her to attack defenceless opponents with her violent Koraidon, and judging by her threats, she’s not exactly planning on just showing them the door... She’s an unsuspecting villain who isn’t outwardly evil, but who’s own curiosity and personal desires trump over their morality and at the end of the day, it leads to their own death and their own AI clone wishing to undo the harm they have caused in the pursuit of their dream.
To finally answer that BLG QotD, my favorite song in SV is the Professor Battle theme. It’s a remix of the Tera Raid theme, which were both composed by Toby Fox.
It's not just thr Tera raid battle, it's thr school theme as well.

@@akakay0131 Actually, they _kind_ of are. Toby Fox himself mentioned in the winter issue of his seasonal newsletter that the songs he composed entirely on his own were "Tera Raid Battles", "Academy Ace Tournament" and "Battle! Zero Lab".
He also worked on the "Area Zero" theme, but that was also re-arranged by Go Ichinose, as well as a theme melody for "Academy", which was then reused for additional ambiental songs by other composers

One of the things that I really like about the storyline here is the role that Sada's AI plays : It isn't the crazy one that wants to take everything over, it is a logical point of view that find's Sada's goals and behavior to be obsessive and irrational. I feel like as AI becomes more relevant in our society, its nice to see ideas about AI other than the classic "AI is going to take over the world and kill humans" stereotype, and I liked the way that Pokèmon approached it. The way that it still cared for Arven and wished that it could have been closer to him so that he could still feel like he had a mother, and the way that it wondered about its feelings as it went into the time machine in a very human way.
I appreciate that you ended the series with the Meatstix sweep. Just know for the future that the focus sash only works if your Pokémon is at full HP when hit.
A detail I love a lot is AI Sada's eyes. From the start and until you meet her, they're a light blue, presumably exactly like Sada (though you can see a reddish brown flash when she introduces herself as an AI). During battle, they turn an unnatural bright color with dark sclera, emphasizing (obviously) the fact that the programming has fully overriden her. After that however, between the two battles and after the Koraidon confrontation, they're a warm brown. To me that kinda symbolizes her separating from her initial purpose and creation and becoming her own person, to a degree.
This game, and especially this end sequence, is full of small but meaningful little details like that and I LOVE it.
This final stretch of the story was so intense on my first playthrough. I didn't think a POKEMON game could be so bittersweet.

Oh man, if you want to know the definition of a bittersweet Pokémon game then you should try the Mystery Dungeon series.
If you told me at the beginning of this series that the penultimate battle would end with a Meatstix sweep I absolutely would not have believed it, but here we are. Amazing. I have watched people struggle to find a Pokémon that can stand up to Roaring Moon and yet all it took was one (1) stick bug boi punching it in the face.
To be fair any pokemon with counter and is week to the move or do not rest it can KO it with counter move
During my fight, I had my Meowscarada test U-Turn for a hint about Roaring Moon's typing -- and was surprised to discover Bug being supereffective so I deduced it to be part-Dark. Then came back to one-shot it with a Play Rough.
ya know it's a little crazy with how many hours of gameplay there is, and yet not a single one of them is dedicated to giving poor arven a damn hug
Also Koraidon warming up to Penny so much makes a lot of sense with the context of everything that happened
Man I don't know what I expected from the ending but it SURE AS SHIT WASN'T THIS. The whole Area Zero was so well done with the intimidating music, not-quite-right pokemon, increasingly alarming journal entries, and then capped off with that final Sada reveal and battle. Just wow.
Arven is such a tragic character
he just needs a hug and someone to talk to
As a veteran pokemon fan, you have no idea how great it is to experience completely unknown pokemons that forces you to figure out types and stats in the actual battle once again, and for once, the champion (or our rival) is NOT the final objective of the main storyline. My passion for pokemon never really died out, but god damn this game is like a whole depot of fuel that set me ablaze five times stronger.
having lived my childhood/adolescence with a weirdly toxic mom that seemed to love me sometimes but only sometimes, ultimately choosing to be selfish and prioritize her own wants over taking basic care of me, and then ultimately losing her to cancer, i'm crying again now lol. i chose scarlet because i thought sada was hot dammit she wasn't supposed to remind me of MY MOM and hurt me this way
when you lose a toxic-but-redeemable parent it's so confusing, like, am i mourning her and the person she was, or am i mourning the person she could have been if she had chosen to actually care about me? am i glad she's gone and no longer weighing down on me? both? all of the above?
most of the time i consider her having been abusive and feel like i was finally able to blossom since losing her, but this ending made me miss her. it made me wonder what it would be like if i could talk to her again. would she be proud of me?

Fantastic episode! Only Ian would be smart enough to instantly realize they could still use Koraidon, yet dumb enough to not realize it was an obviously scripted battle which couldn't be lost.
Please don't forget to catch the legendary Pokemon too before your pre-DLC hiatus.
The best scripted battles are the ones where you don't actually notice the scripting.
For the record, that was a completely wasted potion. You're intended to attack until the taunt wears off, Endure after warning of a big attack coming, and then Terastallize + Tera Blast at first opportunity. But even if you don't, Koraidon will "tough out" all attacks that would have otherwise knocked it out (meaning the Endure is 100% optional), and if you're REALLY intent on wasting turns, it eventually Tera Blasts on its own.
Tough out makes sense too, since it for pokemon that truly trust in your bond, and he been with you from the start too

I’d definitely recommend continuing to play the game, even if it’s on your own time. You still have some of the teachers to hang out with, the legendaries to catch, and the rivals all have short arcs after the tournament that fully round out their characters. Plus, the DLC seems to continue the main story.
Still though…wow. Even after Platinum’s Distortion Realm and Sun/Moon’s Ultra Space arc, I wasn’t expecting a bit of genuine sci-fi horror from _this_ of all games. For all its flaws, I feel like Pokémon Scarlet has restored even just a little bit of faith for the series.
The Sada boss fight music is awesome, I wish the Elite 4 room was better even if it makes sense for how it is
When you're in the professor's lab, there's actually a picture of little Arven and Mabostiff, it's adorable! The post game is pretty fun, hope y'all enjoy it!

And there you have it. Even with all the bugs, glitches and shortcomings, this is the most fun I've had with a pokemon game in YEARS. Easily my favorite pokemon game since Heart Gold-and super enjoyed watching you guys play it! If you wanna play any more pokemon games on this channel I'd be down to watch them too.

Fun fact: now that you completed the last story, there's a series of character moments you've unlocked in the school with the three friends, and they are great character moments
Penny's is based around team stars integration into the school (oh, and every little storyline ends in each of the characters rooms which you get to see, and I point it out here because Penny's has all her eeveelutions just being adorable cats all over the place)
Nemonas is about how she's been distanced from due to her champion status and distinct social quirks
And arvens is about what he's going to do with his life from here on (and features teasers for future dlc content of scarlet and violet, a neat mysterious brain tickler)

This story is definitely my favorite out of all the mainline games, I don't think anyone expected them to go this hard and I'm so glad they did. My favorite pokemon story out of all the games by far is mystery dungeon explorers of sky, if you guys haven't played that one you totally should! I think you'd really enjoy it!

_PMD:Explorers's_ story is a must-see, to be sure, though it is brought down slightly by the age of the game itself. _Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon_ is also a must-see, its game design is mechanically superior to Explorers and its story is a good rival for best.
Why they made the credits music an actual radio pop song, I don't know.
I love the way the characters all have become good friends by the end of all this.
Since the ai assistant knew exactly what happened to the real Sada, I just figured both were present there and the assistant took care of the body. And yeah, I was wondering if the ai professor would even be able to survive in the past/future.
Also I think it's an interesting touch how all the human characters make effort at throwing their pokeballs into battle. But ai Sada just kinda limply drops them.
I think this unlocks after the school tournament, but after you do it be sure to check the bottom floor library in the school’s main hall. There’s extra story related to all your friends that I ended up missing for weeks after I beat the game because of how out of the way it was.
Are you ever going to finish Legends Arceus? In the last episode/stream you said you would but that has already been a month ago 😅. I'm excited for new series popping up but please don't forget about PLA haha. You owe it to yourselves to finish it. The ending is great

Koraidon is my favorite character in this game. The animation team did such a good job with their expressions and emotions.

Huh, this is an interesting twist. Sada was the villain, as we suspected, but instead of fighting her, she's dead and we're forced to fight robo-Sada.

i WILL say that while the terastallizing thing would be cool, a large part of the challenge of AI Professor's fight is that you aren't familiar with all of the pokemon and they have weird types

When X/Y first came out (Gen 6 / Kalos), I was sure that the implementation of 3D graphics heralded the start of a new and revised kind of Pokemon game, but up until Sword/Shield, they really just felt like the same formula. Then THIS game came out and it's actually trying new things! Fleshed-out NPCs, multiple real storylines, boss battles that feel like an anime. In my eyes, Scarlet and Violet have the potential to be the start of a new style of Pokemon games. I really, really hope Nintendo / Game Freak overcome the flaws apparent here by the time they get to the next installment, whenever that may be.

Ian was right to be hesitant to heal, the mirror match is just cinematic you cant lose there cause Korai/Miradon will just keep gettin the friendship endure. the fact the fights so 1 sided and you get the friendship endure makes it pretty clear this battle is scripted, which also means the +1 to speed would obviously make you faster so theres no reason to heal in general, especially at the tera moment

Holy cow we finally made it to the finale!!! And the other song in my top five fave Pokémon S/V Battle! AI Sada! Also, what a fantastic journey, can’t wait to see the conclusion of your play through and what Pokémon game you play next! If you do do Sword and shield, you might wanna do a nuzlocke or a challenge or something, because it is quite easy. At the end of the day though, whatever you guys do, will be great. Yay, I’m so glad you’re going to play some postgame aka NG+! I just finished Violet so getting to watch the final scenes in Scarlet through BLG was awesome. I agree with some earlier commentators that you should look for a way to see the Violet paradox Pokémon too; they’re all interesting designs but there’s one in particular you might think is extra cool. And don’t forget about those mysterious shrines!
you can re-fight the team star leaders as well just walk up to them and talk once a day, no star mobile, full teams, on par with the gymleaders level-wise. you can also go back to the titans and find a static smaller version that you can only fight by walking up to it and talking, if you catch them they will have the ribbon/mark that calls them a former titan and if you equip it, it will say as much whenever you send them out to fight.
Normally I think I'd be kinda ticked that the battle is scripted but it ties the story together so beautifully I love this games story

I love this game even with its clear issues definitely second favorite behind moon, also quick question are you guys gonna do the dlc?
So Mabostiff I think was hurt by just a random paradox pokemon not something big. However Arven is able to take them on now because he grew as a trainer while taking on the titan pokemon. That said in Violet he fights three electric/fighting pokemon so maybe that's why Mabostiff got hurt. I'm pretty sure Sada died right before the games intro because Koraidon definitely came out of the Great Crater.
Also you both predicted this ending so early (and you've done this in multiple games in the past) that I always skip watching any games you play that I'm in the middle of.
I think Mewtwo has some jiggypuff DNA because look at scream tail and look at one of its Mega evos.
I think its the other way around because mew is the origin of all pokemon so jigglly puff has mew dna so the same for mewtwo
The final is definitely the best part of the game. Pretty cool fight. Shame the game as a whole is meh and could have been so much more. Nice song at the end in the credits. But it’s Pokemon sooo.. yeah glad people were able to enjoy it despite the flaws. Time to wait for dlc which you can pre order even tho there isn’t a single sec of footage shown for it…
It's so good that you enjoyed the game, the ending must be one the best that they madem was really awesome the professor being the last big boss. And to a previous BLG questions, the battle professor Sada/Turo was my fave song from this game. Toby fox is a genius.
Easy one of my favorite pokemon games, because of the lore they gave to the game, as well as cool and adictive music by Toby Fox, whi by the way did an excellent job with the final boss battle!
I cab agreed that the elite 4 couldve been better if their room has some personality than going through minimalistic, at least changing the colors of the mirrors that represent their type could've been a bit better. But i was more disappointed with La Primera's set of pokemons, only two were good but the others were basics ^ ^°
Looking forward for the DLC too!
And as for what you can do in post game, obviously the gym rematch and the tournament is one thing, but theres a couple of things you can do:
- Go to Area Zero to hunt the remaining paradox pokemon that you havent found and one more that it's cloae to the time machine room.
- Find all the sticks around Paldea to open the big 4 doors to find out their content (which is a hassle to be honest, so using a guide to find their locations will be more helpful. I mean, nothing wrong with it, you dont have to prove anything to find them withOut it, right? XD)
LASTLY, it has been fun watching your paldea's adventures from zero to now owo

There is still a bit more you can do in postgame, so I will keep my thoughts on the events that occurred in Area Zero for later. But I will say that there’s a lot of interesting revelations and mysteries with this game’s lore that aren’t immediately apparent. People really take this story for face value, so I am excited for the DLC to potentially give us more information.
I hope things get weeeeird.

Okay but I loved to watch you guys play sword and shield, even if the story isn’t nearly as good as Scarlet and Violet it’s still a lot of fun and the dlcs for both switch Pokémon games cause the Sword and Shield one is really good and then there’s lots of cool looking things with the Scarlet and Violet dlc

Well each of the ancient pokemon was captured using a master ball and brought to the present, since all the ancient pokemon are genderless that means each one represents a master ball used, my guess is that the the crystal boosted tech in area zero was used to manufacture the master balls.

Liked the playthrough and looking forward to the post-game. I wonder how you guys might feel about playing Pokemon romhacks or fangames in the future. Infinite Fusion's gotten pretty popular lately.

Why do they look like dinosaurs? The mammoth has a dinosaur tail. The mushroom has a dinosaur tail and legs to make it clear that it's a dinosaur and not a slug. The freaking flightless subimago Mothra walks like Godzilla.
I'm guessing the postgame has something to do with the Mother 3 dragon needles.
Flutter Mane is supposed to be the ghost of some pterodactyl Pokémon (possibly Aerodactyl?), and Sandy Shocks goes for a caveman aesthetic but it, too, has a dinosaur tail. All dinosaurs. Well, I guess pterodactyls aren't dinosaurs... Funny lizards it is, then.

It sounded as though AI Sada couldn't leave the lab at all without being like, shut down, but maybe not. Either way, she was still partially Terastalized when she was sent to the past, although the end of the fight did undo much of it, so it's not unlikely she didn't last that long...
As you figured, the final fight is scripted, and it's impossible to lose, although there is a sort of fail state, in that if you take too long, the game will take over and progress for you. It borrows a few mechanics from elsewhere that make it possible. The Tera Orb charging after three turns of attacking is taken from the Tera Raid battles, and is prompted by the opponent's taunt. The stat buffs from cheering on the other hand, are a callback to the Montenevera Gym and _its_ stat increases, which themselves are reminiscent of the Cheer option in Tera Raids. At 56:38, Penny is hinting at using Endure for the incoming Giga Impact, but if you don't do it, the (now rigged) friendship mechanic saves you, which is of course supposed to be possible because, well, it's Koraidon, but _also,_ the Titan storyline forces you to have five picnics with Koraidon, although granted you don't actually wash it in the cutscenes, so maybe that shouldn't count.

There is post game to this Do the Ace battles to receive a message instructing you how to unlock 5 and 6 star raids
this will also trigger friendship events to wrap up each character's story and let you rematch the gym leaders
you can also get some bonusses from school and from completing the dex and you can catch the 2nd Koridon and trade it with a friend for the Mirridon . If you need trades or battles, host a live stream on TH-cam.
you can go back to area zero too and the prehistoric pokemon are still there for catching including ones you never saw before.
Fun fact: Toby Fox, Creator of Undertale, composed some songs in this game.
