About 6-7 months ago I stumbled onto this video, loved the energy and enthusiasm, started watching more of Pete's videos, and now I'm making photography my full-time career and starting a TH-cam channel. This dude is an inspiration. 10/10, would be inspired again, 2019 style ;)
Zachary Konecki this is my first of Petes videos. I decided to jump back into photography , I haven’t done this since gcse 👀 I have been using Lightroom for a week now. So amazing and I can’t wait to dive in to my dream.
FYI: The Angle adjustment, that you showed for a horizon, can be used vertically too. I use it this way a lot, as I shoot in studio frequently. So I'll pick an object or a corner of the room, or a pattern in the bricks that I know should be vertically straight, and it works just like it does horizontally. Very effective tool. Thanks for the entertaining tutorials! Keep it up!
I'm not 100% sure how I found Peter McKinnon, I don't do photography but after having watched 1 video, I've ended up in a spiral of watching many of them back to back because they're really enjoyable and he makes photography and editing sound really fun and interesting which has made me want to start doing it. He really knows how to make videos and brings great energy on camera which makes him really easy to watch and pay attention to.
As a software engineer watching this: I'm in awe of the people who made LightRoom/photoshop, softwares we spend a good amount of time watching tutorials on!!! It's like a pyramid. A hidden feature under EVERY button 😍
i'M SURE THAT I'M NOT THE ONE COMING BACK BECAUSE I ALWAYS FORGET THE SHORTCUTS SO... 1 - Auto Tone 1:54 2 - Resetting 2:46 3 - Grid Overlays 3:44 4 - Lights Out 5:34 5 - Level Out 6:32 6 - B&A 7:30 7 - Clipping 8:50 8 - Radial Brush Adjustment 10:08 9 - Size Up 12:13 10 - Organize Yo Self ! 13:00 You're Welcome ♥ Thanks for those tips @PeterMckinnon
a buddy of mine bought a lockpicking kit and reversed the locks on his door and locked himself in his room until he learned... needles to say, a few hours later we called a locksmith.
Thank you, I’m a old man, trying to get the best out of my photography, I’ve only converted from film 6 years ago, I got lightroom 3 but it was basic compared to CC and I thank you for helping me out, I watched this video for about 8 hours to edit one shot, I’m slow now and find learning hard, but I learnt more in the last day or so than in the last 5 years, I thank you again
Obviously you are a person that is not that smart, as you don't need "professional" tools to pick, and you can always use "less professional" tools if they fit best the circumstance. The tool does not define the professional, his ability does.
Omg I can’t believe how helpful Lightroom has been for my business. I just learned that I can bulk edit and I can’t tell you how much time I have spent trying to find a faster way!!
Dude, your teaching style is awesome. Between you and Mark Denney, Nick Page.... it makes this journey of learning photography so much more fun and interesting. It’s fun to learn from people you feel like you could hang out and have a beer with. Keep up the good work my man 👍
youre paying for a piece of paper, not an education. anyone can educate themselves if self motivated. not everyone has the qualifications to back up the knowledge. and thats all employers care about.
Good tips! You missed out on one of L's most epic features; Press L, then press R. Then change your crop. You can even move the whole cropped rectangle around. That way you don't have to 'imagine' what the crop will look like, you can actually see it right there, with nothing else on your screen but the finished crop, before you even hit enter. Worth while. You can also go R and then CTRL (or whatever that is on an Apple device), that way you instantly get the level angle thing going. You don't need to click the icon.
On tip #9, if you want to get super precise with your sliders without sacrificing the size of the image window, click and drag on the slider number on the right rather than the bar. It’s allows much more precise dragging of the sliders 👌🏼
or alt click ( 3:32 ) or click C ( 7:50 ) also if you alt+slide a slider , it will show only the effected area of that slider ( AKA clipping ) ( 9:46 )
Classic PM introduction makes it 🔥! Love the tips that makes me see Lightroom way more easier than before. Loving the " zoom in - zoom out " intro for each tip...💯...this video is #1 recommended!😍
This video was recommended to me on the side bar. Tip #3 seriously blew my mind! I take photographs for the company work for and I use Lightroom all the time. This is so helpful!
Seriously I wish I could do an apprenticeship with you peter. I’ve been following you for a while and I can honestly say I can’t get enough of your knowledge. I just wish I was able to consume myself more with it via apprenticeship lol. I love all things videography, cinematography, and photography. You are the king fish in this industry and one hell of a person to learn from.
Hey Peter. I watched this when it first came out and now I’m back in 2020. Great tips! Most of those tips have become muscle memory now. Thank you. Any chance of a 2020 (Lightroom and/or Photoshop) update? Take care and please continue making those inspirational videos.
I am here since you were at 100K... this is 2020.. for some reason watching you in 2X speed is so much fun!!!! Really guys watch the videos again in 2x!!!
Chris Ramsay thank's man! Just found out your channel about a week ago and you're already makin me discover another awesome one 😍 (came from the chinese cup puzzle)
Another useful one is just clicking once on the name of property you want to tweak (exposure, shadows, contrast, white balance, etc) and then using the + and - keys to increase or decrease the value, instead of dragging the slider with the mouse
You can also use an addon to change how much it tweaks by also, I think there is a step key to change if its 0.5 or 1 as a step but can be edited to run 0.10 or o.25 etc
Tip 9 - SIZEUP, You can click over the number of the customization and press key up or key down to move 1 by 1 the customization. It is so precise! Try!
Hey Peter, my name is Nilesh and I'm from Mumbai, India. Just saw your '10 LR tips' tutorial. You are simply awesome in teaching the techniques in a fun way. Although I knew some tips, but the Before/ After one (slash key) was a new one for me. I also liked organise yo self. Size up will be a life saver for me as I always struggle with the minor tweaks. Thanks a lot, Peter for all the tips.
It's not bad at all. I do it all the time. After taking a break one gets a better understanding of what needs to be kept/removed from the final edit. Glad to know I am not the only one though! :-D
Thank you, very helpful. I don't know why this video has any thumbs down. It was much better than the tutorials Lightroom has installed for users to watch. I paused and played around with my own photos. I will watch this many times to memorize the shortcuts. Thanks, Peter.
Hey Peter, awesome video as always. I was curious if you're still using classic or if you've made the switch. Your content is extremely helpful and enjoyable, thank you sir.
Adam G Maybe u r right...maybe not. Just like I'm impressed with his card tricks...I'm impressed with his lock trick too. I don't care if there's a logic or a way to do his magic...right now I only care if for that moment did it make me say "Wow..!" Pro Tip : Even Houdini had a way to do his 'Magic' ...it was not really 'Magic' Magic..!!!
The Toys Are Not Enough it's pointless to compare magic and this. If you are, let's say this is like locking someone in handcuffs and giving them a key, and calling it magic when they open them. I'm absolutely right, not all locks are this easy to open, he's a complete beginner if he thinks any masterlock is hard. He's just trying to fool you all.
Adam G I was not saying that his Lock trick is magic. Lemme try my best to make it clear to to you what I think. Magic is never really a Magic...it's a trick, that's performed well, that make us say "Wow". I don't know to pick a lock...and I was impressed with his skill. Impressed with...his crazy narrations, awesome photography skills, card tricks, lock trick, etc etc. Hopefully one day I'll be able to stand in front of a camera and talk just like him...because my inner self is just like the way he talks in front of the camera. (Won't be able to do in English...most probably...maybe in my language). But I'll definitely...100%...start with "bbwhaaatsupp everybody..?!"
TIP NUMBER 5.1 Hold CRLT and you can do strighten angle. You dont nood to go up and click on it if you shot hold down Control button and stright your beautiful photo

Same here! Except I became a professional burglar
Don Mega does commenting this make you feel better about yourself?
why did you stop making videos?

I came here for the lightroom, end up searching for lock picking tutorial..
Samedt😅

Kaung Myat Thu same hahaha
You really believe he picked the lock? The magic of video editing.
@@youarehere1251 , it is a Master Lock. Most are picked with a simple raking attack. Search out Lock Picking Lawyer for more demos.
Lock picking tutorial is the one we are all waiting for haha
Adam Redmond same
Yes we need it lmao
Lock picking tutorials is my specialty, if you'd like any pointers feel free to ask. I'd love to see Peter McKinnon open some more interesting locks!
are really easy to pick. He's obviously a beginner judging by his set, which was cheap and didn't even have handles.
HelpfulLockPicker you just got a new sub ay
Peter makes 15 minutes go by in what feels like 5 minutes. That's how awesome you and your videos are!
Also, he explains in 15 minutes what I learned in 2 years (of self-taught learning)
Especially when you watch it on 2x
And if you're a "slow lerner" then you may want to try 0.5x speed. The sound will be pretty funky. xD
As a software engineer watching this: I'm in awe of the people who made LightRoom/photoshop, softwares we spend a good amount of time watching tutorials on!!! It's like a pyramid. A hidden feature under EVERY button 😍

Watching the nicest guy in the world pick a lock like a champ then discard it wins the internet today.
The question is: when are we having two minute tutorials on lock picking?
a buddy of mine bought a lockpicking kit and reversed the locks on his door and locked himself in his room until he learned... needles to say, a few hours later we called a locksmith.
haha, classic

The quality of this video and your generosity are mind-blowing! Highly recommend this perfectly explained
Shoutout to Peter for making me less dumb when using Lightroom.
As a follow up to point 4, you can hit "F" to bring your image up in full screen, then hit ESC to drop back
Thumbs up just for the picking of the lock.
Awesome tutorial as always.
Andrew Fitzgerald are really easy to pick. He's obviously a beginner judging by his set, which was cheap and didn't even have handles.

Dude, your teaching style is awesome. Between you and Mark Denney, Nick Page.... it makes this journey of learning photography so much more fun and interesting. It’s fun to learn from people you feel like you could hang out and have a beer with. Keep up the good work my man 👍
Watched this three times...this guy is GOOOOD! So much time saved. Thank you.
And there you have it... McKinnon tutorials of lightroom.. Again awesome as always!!!
This was the most badass intro I’ve ever seen in my whole life 😂
I should have just skipped university and saved 60K and enrolled in TH-camversity instead.
Yep - everything I know about photography I learnt through youtube! My son calls me internet photographer! Lol
youre paying for a piece of paper, not an education. anyone can educate themselves if self motivated. not everyone has the qualifications to back up the knowledge. and thats all employers care about.
Agree lol
Haha! I know what you mean!
100% agree.
Mind. Blown. I’ve been using LR Mobile for little over a year now. Never, ever having touched Classic. That’s just changed. Thank you!!
Didn't know over half of these! Thanks so much!! Would love to see this kind of video for premiere pro ;)
Your old background. ❤️ I missed it so much
Didn't we all!
:)
Harshil Patel I did too, but I happy for the new studio. It’s got potential to be better than this one. Just takes time to piece it together.
I had to double check the date on the video lol
JohnGrimsmo I had the same thought. Lol

Good tips!

Peter McKinnon UMMMM YESSSSSS haha... then you can teach us how to take pictures of it
YES
I new like 60% of these tricks but what a great refresher thanks man for help breathing new life into this rust old Lr user bag of tricks.
On tip #9, if you want to get super precise with your sliders without sacrificing the size of the image window, click and drag on the slider number on the right rather than the bar. It’s allows much more precise dragging of the sliders 👌🏼

Such quick and direct advice I love it! Would love to see a collaboration with you and Mango Street!

Hey Peter. I watched this when it first came out and now I’m back in 2020. Great tips! Most of those tips have become muscle memory now. Thank you.
Any chance of a 2020 (Lightroom and/or Photoshop) update?
Take care and please continue making those inspirational videos.
Tip from me: Use CAPS LOCK when rating, so you don't have to click the next picture, it will move to the next one for you. :)
I am here since you were at 100K... this is 2020.. for some reason watching you in 2X speed is so much fun!!!! Really guys watch the videos again in 2x!!!
This is me literally attending my University classes, watching his Vids. Graduating this year:) Im a Master now in Graphics
This video was so helpful loll holy cow!
Chris Ramsay thank's man! Just found out your channel about a week ago and you're already makin me discover another awesome one 😍 (came from the chinese cup puzzle)
This got a like purely for the lock picking. Awesome. Lightroom stuff was ok too...
Micah Foordphotography are really easy to pick. He's obviously a beginner judging by his set, which was cheap and didn't even have handles.
Best photography /Lightroom comprehension vid ever! Thank you! kököszönöm szépen szépen szépen
Another useful one is just clicking once on the name of property you want to tweak (exposure, shadows, contrast, white balance, etc) and then using the + and - keys to increase or decrease the value, instead of dragging the slider with the mouse
Came down to say the same thing, and it also works with left and right arrow keys
You can also use an addon to change how much it tweaks by also, I think there is a step key to change if its 0.5 or 1 as a step but can be edited to run 0.10 or o.25 etc
Do a 10 tips in lightroom for mobile! Love ur Vids!
Tinius Wingar-Elnes Yes!! Wish he would!
Tip 9 - SIZEUP, You can click over the number of the customization and press key up or key down to move 1 by 1 the customization. It is so precise! Try!
