I’m a little late to the party but thanks for posting this. Just put a couple hundred rounds through mine but think I’ll wait for another couple hundred for break in purposes before following your advice here. Great stuff 👍.

I bought my PX4 about 3 months ago and after several target shooting outings, I thought it was time to clean it. Hardly dirty, albeit, this video was outstanding and allowed me to field strip it and clean it. Great job on the video . . . Quite informative!

Just bought my first guns for Christmas. I have not cleaned a gun in over 20 years. Used them today and quickly realized.....I had to clean and oil them. I purchased the PX4 and a Remington 870 (for my son). Your two how to clean videos were perfect, easy to follow, and really saved my backside to ensure the guns were cleaned right after use. THANK YOU!! For taking the time to put these together!!!

Why am I watching you clean a PX4, Mike? I don't even own a PX4 and I can't stop watching. I've watched every cleaning vid you've posted and so has my dog. Are you embedding some sort of subliminal commands in these? Why am I using BreakFree as cologne? Thanks, man.

I love the smell of BreakFree. To me it doesn't smell the same as it did in the 80's. I really think they changed the formula when it changed to Safariland. The old stuff would leave a sediment in the bottom of the bottle if it sat for a long period. IDK? I also like the smell of Hoppe's it just brings back (good) memories. To me cleaning a gun is almost as fun of shooting one....tks

I bought this gun about 4 years ago and just love it!! During the pandemic, I didn't go shooting for about 18 months. I actually forgot how to break this gun down and can't find my instruction book. Don't worry, TH-cam has a video for just about EVERYTHING!! I found this one and it had me "up and running" in just a few minutes. I saved it to my computer desktop so, if this happens again, it's handy. Thanks!😁
BTW, I'll elaborate on what I said about TH-cam. About a year ago, I bought a new SUV and needed a trailer hitch put on it. I went to U-Haul because these guys are experts, right? The guy putting it on did it in a bay right next to the front desk. I could see him putting it on. Every few minutes, he would get off of the "creeper" and walk in and look at the computer. He then would go outside and work on it again. I found that curious so I finally walked over and saw what he was looking at. He was watching a TH-cam video showing how to install this particular hitch!! I thought I would fall on my face laughing so hard!! Even the "experts" need some help once in a while! 🤣

I have used BreakFree CLP since the 80's and always preferred it, to anything I have tried since. As for the PX4's, been hooked on them since I got one last year. Now have three of them. The PX4 is very underrated, an excellent pistol, accurate and smooth shooting. Great video.

In addition to your procedure I also put grease in the barrel cam slot on my .40 PX4. I think it helps prevent metal to metal impact better at that point than oil does. I've done this for the past 4 years I've owned it and have never had a single FTF or FTE over the course of thousands of rounds. Maybe not necessary but it definitely will not hurt.

Really nice video. One area I had been missing in terms of lubrication was the top front of the slide, where the barrel rubs. Most manuals don’t call this out for lube - jus the outside if the barrel - but that doesn’t seem to be enough. Was getting some early wear on the top rear of the barrel.

This is a very good video, that is very informative. That being said this is a lazy man cleaning job, that I would only recommend if you haven't been shooting and are just maintaining it. I highly recommend you take the slide apart at 700 to 1000 rounds to clean the extractor and firing pin cavity. Otherwise you will wear your internals faster. I must also recommend a high pressure air blow-off nozzle to blow out dirt and debris. The trigger group assembly also collects debris and needs a cleaning 4 times a year during EDC. My PX4 Storm .40 has over 10k rounds through it, and still shoots like new! I use Remington mil-spec CLP, and Valvoline import wheel bearing grease on the metal to metal contact points when I plan on shooting a bunch at the range. Thanks for the plastic dental pick idea, I will order one today!

I use grease on the cam and cam groove. It doesn't run so it stays where it's needed for the camming action. It also doesn't evaporate. I use a high temp lithium based automotive bearing grease. I use 5w20 Synthetic Oil on the slide rails and outer barrel surface. I use Ballistol for cleaning purposes.

Thanks, it’s my 1st cleaning time. I like the sound of the gun when you rack it lol idk why but it sounds sick 😅
