    Cheap...not even, but it is one of the more desirable pistols that shoots smother and holds on target then most other pistols! It's accuracy as close to a rifle as anyone can expect, which is astoundingly accurate! Another fine pistol is the subcompact 9mm Bersa, a pistol made of steel and also holds perfectly on target and shoots any ammo you throw at it, it just doesn't care what you feed it, it works without any issues!! It's great to have a reliable pistol that exceeds anyone's expectations!!!...FYI, it doesn't need to replicate Glock, it stands alone and is by fare better then Glock!!

    love my Px4 - swapped out the plastic coated trigger for an all steel and also converted it to type G with the low profile decocker only levers - now available in 92fs style levers too....my primary HD firearm and i'll even occasionally use it for my concealed carry...looking into the compact version too, all my Beretta firearms at top notch, Cougar 8000, 92FS, 84F, and my Px4, one of the most underrated firearms on the market

    I bought a PX4 Storm full-size here in Canada a couple years ago. Cost me $750.00 Canadian. Our gun law says barrel length must be 4.25 inches for majority of Canadians with restricted class license to purchase. The barrel extends half inch from end of slide. I believe perfect for threading, but it illegal everywhere in Canada to have a suppressor. We are also not able to have carry permit, so safety de-cocker not an issue. I love this handgun! Very nice to shoot, accurate, and no problems after 2,000 plus rounds. Quality of manufacture is fantastic. Canadian border patrol have chosen this for all armed personel.

If you watch a lot of gun fights that happen on video, the last thing you're going to want to do is have to disengage a safety when your adrenaline is pumping. I think it is worth the hype! Because all the good qualities of this gun, have proven to be true and accurate. Not really a surprising attribute as this gun is made by Beretta, the oldest and still existing gun manufacturer in the world since the 1520’s. The Px4 Storm is the polymer version of the battle tested 92FS or M9 used by the US military. I have this gun in the full size 9 mm version and truly it is a keeper. An added bonus if I may add, it has the Italian flair in design which makes it look good and stylish, just like the Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s the Italian’s design

  • @markej4801
    @markej4801 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Another part you might consider with the 9mm full size PX4 is to get into its brother the CX4, the carbine. They share the magazine and funky looks (which I personally love), but are far different otherwise. Both are insanely good on the range, with that 16" barrel on the carbine making it wildly accurate, but it's just great fun to shoot. Try one some time.

    The sharp, protruding safety/decocker levers on the PX4 F were a deal breaker for me. They make racking the slide very uncomfortable and sometimes painful. I have a buddy that bought the low profile lever G set from Beretta and had it installed on his PX4. This basically eliminates the painful stock levers and also turns the pistol into a decocker only version. I bought a PX4 Full Size, had the new levers installed, and now have one of my favorite handguns.

    Great video! Regarding the silencer issue, Brügger & Thomet does one specifically for the PX4. There is an taylor made insert that compensates for the barrel rotation and prevents loosening (or tightening and fusing to the barrel). It's very well engineered and extremely reliable. But it's expensive and you need to purchase one of those longer barrels and have it threaded.

Some years ago, a gun dealer tried to sell me the PX4 with a very good sales presentation but I didnt quite care for it. I took a CZ p10c, sig 320 compact, Steyr mfL9 and px4 to the range. P10 I had shot plenty of times before and it’s just a great pistol. The px4 I bought used but great shape and the other two were new. Results were shocking! CZ p10c came in first place followed closely by the px4 then sig compact 320 and Steyr last. I fully expected the Steyr to place first with CZ second then sig and px4 last but I was way off. The px4 shot great, smooth with the rotating barrel and accurate, it’s now one of my favorite 9mm. The CZ p10c still the king and I recommend it. I’m a Steyr fan and very disappointed, maybe it was just me that day. The sig was very good but still I’d take the px4 over it and the p10c of my life depended on it. Still all good guns.

    One of the great things about PX4 is the part most people complain about. No it’s not the decocker levers, it’s the rounded butt. People think this is ugly because of it. Rightly so. The reason why it’s rounded off is for less printing when concealed and helps to not gauge your side. It also helps reduce muzzle flip since the extra weight is shaved off the butt. Keeps most of the weight towards the muzzle end. One last thing... most people wouldn’t opt for a 40 cal as a carry option simply because of recoil management and site acquisition specially when double tapping. My thought to that is, if you were ever going to buy a carry gun in 40 cal it ought to be a PX4 simply because the rotating barrel dissipates recoil down to what you’d expect a 9mm +P round to kick like. However if you get it in 9mm then recoil is greatly less.

    • @neutronalchemist3241
      @neutronalchemist3241 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not by chance the PX4 Storm is a derivate of the Cougar 8000, that was built around the .40 S&W.
      The problem was "there is this new cartridge that's all the rage in US law enforcement agencies, but it' has a snappy recoil. Also the straight recoiling barrel of the 92 series has several advantages for reliability and accuracy, but several police departments find the 92 bulky for concealed and heavy for all-day carry. What's the solution?"
      Rotating barrel.

If I was to have a problem it would be the gun was designed to be as advertised and it is almost impossible to personalize the firearm. That as well the MAGS are way too expensive, but I have never had one fail on me either. Well done video.

    Another fan of the PX4. I have two in 9mm, a subcompact and a full sized, one .40 S&W full sized and a .45 DAO full size i recently found. The .45 is quite pleasant to shoot with factory .45 hard ball and even better with lighter target loads. I love shooting .45 in a 1911 and the PX4 is softer shooting than the 1911. The .45 is a C model, no safety/de-cocker and a DAO trigger, actually half DAO, since racking the slide puts the hammer in a half cocked position reducing the trigger pull.

    For reference: I'm not sure where you are geographically, but up here in darkest Maine these seem to be running around $600. Which is sad, because this video made me want one, and the "under $400" part got me all excited. (Not in that way. :) Granted, $600 isn't exactly the edge of financial viability either, but still, that was a little bit disappointing to discover.

      +ZGryphon I got it new from somewhere online for $375 shipped, I think. Plus Beretta was (is?) doing a $50 off rebate. $600 is way high if you buy online.

      +LifeSizePotato Fair enough - I started by checking prices at plain old shops physically near me, mainly because buying non-C&R guns online is such a pain in the arse that I don't automatically think of it as an option.
      Also, and not directly relevantly, I just noticed that Beretta style it "Px4" on their website, so now my mind insists on parsing it "P-by-4". :)

      Lion Celica If the outfit you're buying from has ever heard of your FFL. If they haven't, and in my experience they never have, then you have to play matchmaker while they synchronize Swatches etc. etc. etc. This is not quite the time sink it was before they were allowed to fax their damn licenses to each other, but it still adds a day or two to the process, and arranging it is still not my favorite way of spending an afternoon.
      (Also, between the shipping cost and the transfer fee, the savings don't usually end up being that impressive.)

    A) It's far more easy than you describe to simply take out the safety/decocker, pop out the detent ball bearing and spring, and presto, you have a 'G' model [decocker] gun.
    B) Swapping out the grip panels is neither tedious nor hard. It's simple and I've done in many times without effort. WTF?
    C) I actually like the grip area that the 'bat wings' provide...but now I"m into personal preference.
    D) You DON'T have to pull the trigger to remove the slide...and it's a DA/SA gun...so NOTHING like the Glock.

    Good review. I've had this pistol for about 5 years now and have always enjoyed it, and it's all the things you mention. I'm always surprised people underestimate or overlook the Beretta brand when shopping for a handgun. They make great pistols and I've never had anything but good luck with them over the years. Yeah, they can be a bit quirky but most pistols are. I don't think the Storm sells very well, which is too bad, because it's a great gun. But what I really want to know is what you did to that 92. I couldn't find any videos for it in your library. It looks pretty cool.

    I think they could use spring loaded locking mechanism for a silencer: press onto the muzzle, rotate 90°, release.
    Now what I am really curious about is whether this rotation of the suppressor will induce any unwanted inertia/momentum that would throw the muzzle off?

  • @conanfa18
    @conanfa18 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Love your reviews, and a long time subscriber, but you repeat a theme common to many gun media reviewers. The comment about the slide mounted safety and the F model dual function of the de-cocker and safety is the issue that I speak of. As a life time Marine, old enough to have been around for change over from the 1911 to the M9, I would like to offer a perspective that most of you and your compadres don't consider...and may not be aware off.
    In the infantry, we generally know when we are “crossing the line of departure”, or “going outside the wire”, and we set our weapons to the appropriate condition of readiness. Manual safeties and double action pulls are outstanding tools to give military leaders and trigger pullers “options”, with regard to safety, on one end, and rapid initiation or return of fire on the other. Our Marines and soldiers spend A LOT OF TIME, in base camps or assembly areas do a number of tasks: Building structures; digging fighting positions; unloading resupply from trucks; maintaining vehicles; conducting various forms of training to include physical training. We usually keep our weapons close at hand through all of it, because when "in the field", there is no armory where the armorers can maintain your weapons for you. Depending on your MOS or "job"--> officer, NCO, machine gunner, vehicle driver, etc., you may be issued an M9. In a typical assembly area of a company or battalion, there could be hundreds of Marines or soldiers carrying their issued M9 at their sides.
    So, consider this...
    Do you really think that it would be a good thing if hundreds of Marines or soldiers in a bivouac or assembly environment, all carrying a Glock 17, with one in the chamber? How about a 1911 cocked and locked? Maybe for a cop or security guard…that makes sense. For the gaggle of infantrymen, wouldn’t it make a hell of a lot more sense if there was a manual safety, a de-cocker and double action pull between an accidental discharge and the death or injury to one of your men?
    There are so many different and flexible options when carrying the M9 in terms of conditions of weapon readiness:
    -No Mag/weapon on Safe (often to provide visual indicator of an unloaded weapon to supervising leaders, e.g. at the shooting range or field weapon shooting proficiency);
    -Unloaded Mag/Weapon on Safe; Loaded Mag/No round in the chamber/weapon on Safe ("keep the dust out" unloaded carry);
    -Loaded Mag/Round in the chamber/weapon on Safe;
    -Loaded Mag/round in the chamber/weapon off Safe (double action squeeze away from discharge)....
    A lot of these options are used for different reasons and different times, which may sound crazy to you from the gun media, but to former Marine or Army leaders like myself, we are very familiar with all of these. A frame mounted, firing pin blocking safety is about the MOST SAFE type of safety to put on a pistol, and that long and deliberate double action pull in the "F/FS" configuration is a secondary deterrent to an accidental discharge that could kill or injure a highly trained warrior. All infantrymen are well trained with their weapons...much more so than the average civilian, but accidents can happen to the best of us...and they are not worth the risk. Civilians don't carry their side arms while doing all of those aforementioned tasks.
    Please consider, by way of "proof", if I may point out, that the Beretta has been purchased and improved by the US Military by the tens of thousands, winning EVERY major pistol competition since the mid 1980s. There are several reasons for the manual of arms of the M9...and what I have offered is a major reason WE love the M9, i.e. maximum flexibility with the options for conditions of readiness and safety.

    • @LifeSizePotato
      @LifeSizePotato  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're barking up the wrong tree. I love DA/SA guns and have no problem with having decocker options in that sense. One of my favorite handguns is the V1 USP, which is more versatile and adaptable than the both M9 or PX4. My comment on the Beretta's decocker is simply that it is a little too easy to accidentally end up with a dead trigger at the worst possible moment, and that the spring-loaded decocker that at worst leaves you with a DA pull is the superior design choice.

    • @SSHitMan
      @SSHitMan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I work in construction and the PX4 is my everyday carry, and I like it for just the reasons you describe. I carry with one in the chamber and the safety off - the long DA trigger pull is enough safety for me and I don't worry about a discharge while doing work.
