    Great video. To my eye, I thought the SC and the 919 tour looked a bit more similar than the SC to 919 forged. Mizuno have come out with some stunning clubs and they feel amazing. Great head to head!!

    Hey guys love the videos. I just wanna say that since I have subscribed to your channel I feel the knowledge I have gained here helps me 10 fold on the course and range. I have never been fitted but that day is coming soon, and after your videos I believe I now have a better understanding of what to look for. My cousin recently was fitted into a set of Callaway Rouge Pro's at Las Vegas Golf and Tennis. it was a very good session I thought. The shop pro "let the club find the golfer" instead of just selling him clubs. My cousin and I had done some reviews on other "fitters" Golf Galaxy being one , and really were not confident with their depth of knowledge. We felt it was more of a "box store" system. I had told my cousin about your videos and the depth of information you guys go through and I believe it is the proper way to get the right club in your hands. I love the attention to details you guys present when comparing clubs. Keep up the great work.

    I pick up a set of JPX EZ forged, have been playing them for a few month's. What a huge change, going from a really old set of Titleist to these was a night and day experience. After giving up the game for twenty plus years, I came back into it with twenty-five plus year old equipment. The irons were the last thing I replaced, and without a doubt the best upgrade. If you hit the Hot Metal and like it, imagine that in a forged club.

    You are so good guys ! There is no other place to learn more about golf fitting and clubs. I’ve tried almost every youtube channels, you’re absolutely the best ! Education about forging process is very interesting. Would be fun to know how other companies do. Looking forward to receive my new 919 I’ve been fitted for and you will build for me. Keep up the good work.

    I hit a Supersoft with my old MP-54s one day and I didn't even know I had hit the ball. Softest most pure feeling irons I've ever hit. Gotta love a Mizzy iron.

    Great video, as always, guys. I have just been fitted and have ordered my MP18 SC (4 - PW) with Dynamic gold Xs... these will be my first set of Mizuno's, and I can say with some degree of certainty that I will now play only Mizuno. I was surprised by the incredibly soft feel and the sense of communication they gave me, which instils confidence. There really is a big difference when compared to other cast clubs. Just gotta wait for them to arrive now! Keep up the great work fellas

    I admit to being an unapologetic traditionalist and Mizuno loyalist but, honestly, it's difficult to imagine any iron delivering a consistently better looking, better feeling, better performing iron than those in Mizuno's MP line. Thanks for another great review.

  • @trxe420
    @trxe420 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You nailed it. I play mp-18 and also have the jpx 900 hybrid. The reason why is exactly what you said, its pure quality and you can see and feel it. My fitters, who happens to be a family member, explained the process in detail just like you said. Reminds me of how Titleist is with their balls. I could be having the worst round then i middle my mp-18 and all of a sudden i love golf again, makes you feel like you just hit the best shot in the history of the game. Woods are under rated too.

  • @brianyoung3

    I'm glad that you're showing data on the SC at the intended loft because I'm sure that Mizuno intended these clubs to be different. It is interesting what you have done by comparing the two at the same loft. I think that the JPX appeals to a different person than the MP. The results may be similar but how you get there is different. As an MP guy, my first question is how does the MP perform at the intended loft?
    For my next set, I am keen to blend a set for 2 reasons. 1. My long irons may be easier to hit but what excites me more is 2. That I can use a blade for my scoring irons which I avoided in the past because they have been harder to hit with the longer irons.

    How does the 919 tour compare to the mp 18 SC. As far as looks and tech go, that would be the comparable iron. 919 forged should be compared to the mmc , no?

    Nice video guys and I am a Mizuno “player” as well albeit with the 900 Hot Metal. I fear that this line has a little overlap with the MP line. The MMC I guess would be similar to 919 Forged and the 919 Tour probably closer to SC. Among Mizuno loyalists I guess there’s a certain pride to playing an MP iron and the JPX May be more for the masses.
    I do like that Mizuno is able to keep the prices competitive through their other sales of sports products (shoes, clothing, baseball gloves, bats etc). Keep up the good work 🏌️

    My MP69s are still the love for me. Even when I was considering the MP5 last year. But mine felt better and that ended up getting me fit into 6.5 LZs..and a change to my typical 2 deg upright line angle. Going through swing changes now that are leading to inconsistencies (shot 80 and 93 on the same f'ing course), but the good shots are great. Trying to get back to my 9 index, but short game is killing me.

    What was more buttery? I went MP-18 earlier this year. 900 tours were hard to tell between the SCs to see which were more buttery. Both great clubs and I have found similar results, losing a half club to club, more spin and stopping power. #nothingfeelslikeamizuno

    Utterly stunning club that MP18 SC. Nice to know they stack up against the newer 919s. The big question remaining is how these sets blend. Are you able to show how they perform as a blended set? I'd love to play MP18 up to a 8iron then switch to MP18 SC. Maybe then jump.again for 2,3 and 4 iron. I wondered how much loft and lie changes would be needed to do that?

    As a couple of people have already stated, I feel a better comparison would have been the MP18 SC and the JPX919 Tour. Same lofts and other club head specs are very close. Seem to fill the same space as a better players iron with some forgiveness built in. What do you guys think?

  • @JayJay-jx3zg
    @JayJay-jx3zg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I never wholly liked the 1025 metal of Mizuno. It's what kept me into clubs like the 09 X-Forged, Bridgestone J33, J40 CB, now Srixon 565/765 combo and away from Mizuno. 1020 CB is just so much softer. The hybrids are clicky as well, like Apex, TM P790's and Ping's too. To me, 1020 offers the best feel.
    Maybe you guys can do a video on the different "Forged" variations?

    Very interesting once again the stronger lofted club going higher do you think it would still be the case if the swing speeds were lower .
    What do you think of the recoil 65 graphite iron shafts.
    And on a different note why do you thonk Ping are still using lie boards instead of the more accurate GcQuad with HMT...

    Great video! Looking to get either MP-20 MMC or JPX 919 forged Like to see a comparison test of these 2 irons and possibly i210 also ! I’ve narrowed it down to these 3 irons. Playing off a 2.4 index Mostly due to a great short game, especially putting (I’m a +5.4 and putting according to ARCOSS).
    I’m not hitting the sweet spot all the time with my irons so I could definitely use the forgiveness of the 919 forged and the Ping i210. I have a feeling the MMC’s may not be forgiving enough

    Great idea to compare across the MP & JPX range rather than 900 to 919. I have to say that the new ranges look stunning and it's hard to say which one looks prettier, even though they are all aimed at different golfers. Personally I must admit that I'm having naughty dreams about the "HotMetal", damn they are gorgeous! Ooops sorry, getting carried away again!
    What I found fascinating is how little difference the addition of Boron made to the numbers of the JPX Forged. It begs the question whats it there for, if it isn't increasing Ball speed or launch??

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😆 the hot metals are quite a club!! As for the 919 forged over the MP18 SC, probably not as much difference as we expected to see but likely would see a bit more ball speed, higher launch and lower spin on average across a bigger sample size

    Great video, I have found the Mizuno line up a little confusing. I would have thought the MP18-MMC was a closer comparison to the JPX 919 forged - at least in terms of size and forgiveness. This is particular due to fact I tried both the JPX 900 and MP18-MMC and felt they were so different that they were aimed at very different golfers.
    However your numbers do seem to suggest that MP18-SC and JPX919 forged are for very similar golfers (which is as close as I will get to saying I was wrong!)

    • @Mjwest23
      @Mjwest23 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The JPX line is more forgiving in general. Bigger, thicker head, with more offset and technology. Read the mygolfspy.com write up on them. I think the MP-18 may provide a little better feel/butter feel, a little higher spin. MP-18 is their traditional line and JPX has modern aesthetics and technology in them.

      Justin, for me, the two are also very different clubs. I'm a JPX 900 player and tried to work in the MP18 HiFlis in the higher irons, and they just weren't for me. Where the JPXs feel like they're made for me, I just don't get the same delivery from the heavier MP18 heads. There's definitely a higher level of forgiveness built into the JPXs, but I also think that the heavier soles of the HiFlis weren't helping me either.

      I took it as they were comparing the two "middle, all around" club from each of the two very different lines that Mizuno put out. I agree the MMC would be more like the 919 forged in theory but comparing the two clubs in the same position of the JPX and MP lines help show the overall difference between the lines in general. That was my take, anyways.

      Lord Montague, I can confirm that! I just tried the 919 Forged irons today and I've never had the kind of laser beam consistency down the middle like I had with these. And man, they really are that much prettier if you were already into your JPX 900s! I will say though, they feel a little more "dampened" on impact, and I didn't have quite the same feel of the ball... I'd compare it a little to what I felt in the Ping G700s. I personally don't think it's a bad thing at all, but it is different.

    Do you notice a difference in closure rates with the cavity back models because of the toe/perimeter weighting? I've struggled with long iron CBs because of the face shutting down. Any advice on how to get something more forgiving than my MB without having to hold off the swing?

    Last thing, saw you vid in my Golf WRX email, but had watched already. However, does it help you all for us to still click it there and watch in youtube again?

    Just curious...any chance you'd be willing to fill one of the voids in the JPX 919 Forged with silicone or epoxy? Curious as to what it would do to the performance of the club.

    I would like to ask regarding lower strikes on the jpx 919 forged vs say the p790. I much prefer the feel of Mizuno but often hit low on the face. Is there a bigger loss of ball speed vs a p790? I’d be very interested in your opinions.

    An I ask why you dont use your wrists when you swing? I do the same due to really bad breaks in both wrists when i was younger so it's extremely painful for me to do. Just wondered if it is down to injury or choice?

    Great video guys. I currently use the JPX 900 Hot Metal and really like them. Traded my playing partner straight across for a set of TM M2s Just liked the look of them better and didn't really know much about them.....very happy with the swap, now I hope I find someone with the 919's!

    My first set of "real" irons are Mizunos! LOVE 'EM!!
    Near the end of this one you mentioned offset and that got me thinking - I play 2016 JPX EZs and they are offset quite a bit - does that make it harder for me to hit more of a fade or draw than I actually do?
    I know they are super game improvement irons - and they really are (I hit LOTS of bad shots that still fly pretty well) but I don't get much turn out of the shots, baby fades and the occasional slight draw...

      Offset generally will help get a bit more height and limit a push or fade. It won't stop you from hitting different shots, it might just be slightly harder to hit a fade.

    Hey guys I don’t know if I’m crazy but I got fitted today and it was between the JPX 919 tour and MP-18 sc. Both felt great but I give the edge to the 919 tour, but at a 10 handicap i was confused that I fit into the tour version? Is there a big difference between the 919 tour and MP 18 sc?

    Went with the forged.. oddly enough I think I've hit the 800 pros more consistently with distance control but its only been 2 rounds

    Ian,
    Would the Cg of the sc influence the launch angle more so than the loft. Interesting that with a 2 degree change up the launch angle was very similar..
    Cheers

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Possible, but we're also dealing with the human variable in terms of the data. Could be that the swings made with the higher lofted SC were delivered with slightly more shaft lean.

    Does "forgiveness" in irons mainly mean distance forgiveness and direction right and left is up to you and your club path?

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can be both, but the bigger factor in forgiveness is usually the amount of distance loss on mishits

    Thanks again for another informative video. You guys are definitely the best out there. Question for you; I have JPX 900 forged. Swing speed is about 70 miles an hour with six iron. I have LZ 60 g shafts. Do you think I might benefit from a heavier shaft?

    • @clubchampionmedia
      @clubchampionmedia  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends more on your delivery characteristics than your swing speed. More shaft weight often helps a player who is quick/aggressive in transition or tends to be over the top.

    Guys have a question... Looking to get new irons but the closest fitter to me is like 3.5 hours and just don't have time to make that trip... Looking to get the mp18 SC,919 forged or 919 tour... I'm a +2 looking for a little extra distance but don't want crazy strong lofts...mp18sc is my front runner because I like a thinner sole and top line but I'm starting to think the 919 tour turned down a degree might be nice... Your thoughts on the forged is what brought them into play but I like minimal offset... The best irons I've ever played are the 2001 taylormade 300 forged which the mp18sc reminds me of and has almost identical offSET
