To anyone thinking the british were evil for fighting the zulu understand that shaka zulu their leader was one of the most bloodthirsty warlords to ever live. He gathered his large army by conquering every settlement he ran across giving them only one choice. Join him or die. His goal was to unify all of africa under his banner. He killed uncounted numbers of his own people and had to be put down. This is why the british ultimately left their empire and gave it all back to the natives. It was unmanageable because you can't uplift basically stone age cultures into industrial revolution cultures. It takes generations of steady cultural evolution to make that leap. They inherently rejected it and thats exactly what happened to the british empire. The peoples they conquered had no taste for technology or western ways so they abandoned it and reverted back to their stone age cultures.

The sound here is a perfect representation of what the zulu army sounded like.
Eye witness reports state that the zulu sounded like a giant swarm of angry bees.
I think it was younghusbands company on the far left of the british line that first came under attack.
They had advanced across the steep slope of isandlwhana and across the ridge, so that their engagement was hidden, except for sporadic shooting, which became more rapid as they gradually gave ground.
This would be part of the zulu right horn.
The head and chest of the zulu attack is fairly accurately represented
As they pour across the plateau and drop down a slope to engage the British line.
The zulu left horn temporarily held by durnford, was forced, because of the accurate fire, to swing even further left, this led to durnfords stand being out flanked, he had no support to his right or right rear to check this movement
    And consequently attempted to retire.
    As a side note,
    Simon ward plays verecker,
In realty, verecker was the actor David nivens grandfather, he died at isandlwhana.
