No Prince did not write it for her. He actually recorded for himself for his first or second Warner Brothers album. Arif Mardin, Chaka's producer recommended for a album track. And the story goes on to the rap sequene!

Prince was at the studio in '77 & Chaka called looking for Bootsy Collins & Prince pretended to be him. When she got there & found it was Prince she cursed him out! 😅 He apologized & told her someday he'd write a song for her. He re order this for his 2nd album in '79, its about his crush on Patrice Rushen) but he let Chaka Record it later. They were friends 40+ years! Patrice Rushen helped him get his record deal but was best friends w/bassist Larry Graham's wife then ended up having an affair with him. Chaka credited Prince with saving her life since after he passed she was also addicted to Fentanyl that killed him. It was prescribed to her after knee surgery. Chaka is a petite powerhouse!!! I’m coming to your defense again my G, on the issue of pause. Other reaction professionals I watch actually pause much more than you and often unwittingly right as the song is about to hit a high point. It can mess you up singing enjoying if it happens more than say twice -three times. I still adore these other channels the creators etc, and in contrast I don’t notice you doing it much at all. And for instance the Rose Royce / Larry June moment? You know the one-genuine and priceless IMO. So do you -!don’t stifle your reaction. If you do it becomes a video radio.
