  • In this video I use French WSS infantry from Lancer Miniatures to make a Spanish infantry unit for my Maurice 15mm army.
    The figures came in some packs of assorted line infantry and their commanders, but I am using only two of the infantry poses. The painting guides I am using can be found here: minairons.eu/e...
    It's been a while since I've made new ships, but I'm about to finish my 100 point army to play Maurice and I'm working hard to get to the finish line as soon as possible. I'm already only two infantry units away! Although I will make some more to have options; a cavalry as mercenaries, some dismounted dragoons (although such a thing is not in the rules) and some detachments.
    On the other hand, the holiday season is over and my fellow players will hopefully be available for many games again!

    A great job on a superb period!

      Thank you, yes an interesting period because its conflicts are the roots of those of our era. Plus the aesthetic was nothing less than baroque! And militarily they still didn't do overly complicated maneuvers, so the rules are pretty simple.

    I always look forward to your next project. May I ask, what size bases do you use?

      Thank you very much, I look forward to your comments too! For this army I am using 3x1'5 cm 3 mm thick MDF wooden bases that I use in pairs to make them 3x3 cm bases for the infantry, the cavalry I mount directly on 3x3 cm bases. Maurice leaves freedom to choose the measures as long as both players are similar, and therefore I have copied the measures that Lluís Vilalta had, I think he based them this way for Beneath the Lily Banners, another game that I want to try someday.

    I have admired your style for some time. Have you considered adopting contrast paints, as it may suit your style very well? Also, have you conseidered the 'slap chop' method? It was first originated for fantasy painting, but can be used to get effect for historical.

      Thank you very much! Yes, I've been wanting to try the contrasts for a long time. I haven't done it because I don't want to change the paint style halfway through making an army and because I have an impressive stock of paints that I don't want to spoil. The Air range I'm mainly using now almost works as a contrast because they are very diluted, so I'm sure when I try the contrast I'll feel comfortable. Thanks for your suggestion!

    Great Job, Alex. I've seen you use both Lancer and Khurasan's lines. They mix well I take it? Are there other lines you use?

    • @MinisMyWay
      @MinisMyWay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much. By size they are quite compatible, but both brands have very different sculpting styles. The Khurasan are more stylized (and fragile) and the faces are sculpted through holes (although once painted, these faces look surprisingly good!) The Lancer are thicker, with limbs next to the body and more realistic but small faces. The tricorns are very different. to my taste they can be in the same army but they do not combine well in the same unit. Finally I have only combined grenadiers in the same unit and maybe some gun crew. I started my army with Legio Heroica figures that can be seen in old videos from a year ago, which are very nice. But the company has since closed "temporarily"!

      @@MinisMyWay I see what you mean on the sculpting styles. They mix pretty well though, even close together in the final shots at the end of the video.
