15mm WSS Spanish Guards - 18 mm Lancer Miniatures french line unit

  • Another unit for my WSS Spanish army, the Spanish Guards. This time using figures from Lancer Miniatures.
    I already have some units painted using figures from Legio Heroica, but this brand has stopped sales, so waiting for it to reopen I'm looking for alternatives and I made a small test order to Lancer Miniatures. Lancer figures according to their website are 18mm, but as you can see they are compatible with 15mm figures from other brands if they are in the larger range of the scale.
    The sculpting style is different from Legio Heroica, they are thinner and the faces are not very well defined, but they look pretty good, so I will use them for other units.
    About the Spanish Guards, this elite unit was created in December 1703 by the Marquis of Louiville, personal advisor to Philip d'Anjou, with the same size and
    internal organization than the Walloon Guards.
    Their uniform was identical to that of Louis XIV’s French Guards --except for the cockade, that was red instead of white.
    You can find the painting guides I'm using in free download at the Minairons Miniatures website: minairons.eu/e...

    As usual your meticulousness to detail is commendable although I'm sure I'd have the devil's own time painting 18 figures all in the same uniform. Well done! It would be nice to see the Spanish army all out on parade one of these days. Happy Easter!

      18 figures are nearly at my limit of boring XD XD For now I have half of an army, but adding Lluís Vilalta's figures we already have a game programmed of which I hope to be able to publish a video soon! Thank you very much for your comments!

      Gracias! Si que eran muy bonitos, no tenían vergüenza en la época barroca. Aunque bien mirado, si alguno de ellos volviera ahora se preguntaría si no tenemos vergüenza de presentarnos ante el enemigo disfrazados de verdura para que no nos pueda ver.

    Another very well-done unit, sir. you certainly have a great eye for choosing the detail of the miniature that you wish to bring out. My choice of manufacturer for this period is Eureka. My period armies are French vs Hanoverians.

    • @MinisMyWay
      @MinisMyWay  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Eureka figures look wonderful in the photos, although I don't know if they really correspond to their 18mm designation, perhaps as with Lancer, they are compatible with the 15mm ones. If you have figures of theirs maybe you can tell me what they measure from feet to eyes? Thanks for your collaboration and your great comment.

    • @ccaudi
      @ccaudi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MinisMyWay Measuring Feet to eyes... according to my aging eyes... Eureka castings measure a true 18mm. I also paint Old Glory miniatures for this period. They measure closer to 16mm, but their casting is much more "meaty". On the table, that is really the only characteristic that I can tell the difference by unit. However, that is using my aging eyes.

    I'm interested in this acrylic paste you use to add feathers ect.what may I ask is it? Thanks.

    • @MinisMyWay
      @MinisMyWay  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a prepared paste for DIY, to cover small cracks in walls or fill tile joints but acrylic, not plaster. I use the one from the Spanish distributor Criscolor but I'm sure there are equivalents in your country, you just need it to have a plastic-like finish so it's not as brittle as plaster and sticky enough for it to adhere well. You can certainly use Green Stuff for sculpting, but I find it easier and faster for these very, very small details where you don't need to sculpt specific forms.

    • @MinisMyWay
      @MinisMyWay  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@redemissarium They measure 17mm to the eyes, which is a generous 15mm scale, but it is quite far from the 1/72 scale which is 22'4mm to the eyes.
      I have very little experience with the 1/72 scale, in my environment nobody uses it to play although as you say there are many lines with good variety and quality in plastic and metal.
