never done it before today. 6 hour job, including trips to the part store. it was a real pain removing the ball joint from the knuckle. i used a pickle fork and a hinged ball joint remover.
Note: Some aftermarked sway bar end link kits don't fit in well after everything has been bolted in tightly. You may have to lossen the sway bar mounting brackets on the body and jack up the sway bar ever so slightly to get them in there.
I believe that the bolt at 4:06 actually takes a Torx Plus IP55 bit. Torx Plus bits have a different, huskier profile than standard Torx bits. Depending on the manufacture of the bit, a Torx Plus bit has a pre-fix of "IP" or "TP," vs only a "T" for standard Torx bits. You may want to carry and sell Torx Plus IP55 bits. They are readily available. After doing a lot of Googling, I have come to the conclusion that there is actually no such thing as a Torx T57 bit (standard Torx size 57 bit). I planning on replacing the lower control arms on my 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. I have watched and studied the TH-cam videos for replacing Pontiac Grand Prix and Buick Century lower control arms which are similar if not the same as the Monte Carlo arm in your video. You can also use a vice grip and clamp down on the sides of the bolt in lieu of using a Torx Plus IP55 bit.
Can I get away with a regular t55 that's what I thought it was and that's what I ordered I only have a limited amount of tools right now everything else is crammed at storage you can't even walk in there let alone get anything out of it.
So I'd seen the question asked a couple of times but with no response so I'm going to ask it again. What are the recommended torque specs on the castle nut that attaches the knuckle to the ball joint? Please and thank you.
Another write-up I seen said 40 foot pounds and then go a little tighter if needed to line up the Cotter PIN hole. I don't think you're going to get a torque wrench and socket in there though. I always tighten them just good and tight be careful not to over tighten so you don't strip it.
I couldn't identify the failure, looks like this part didn't need replacement? The Torx bit is TP55, instead of T55 the P designates newer redesign (Torx Plus).
The 2, 21mm nuts, is there room to get a deep 21 and a 1/2" impact in there to blow the nuts off? I only have a limited number of tools right now that's why I ask.
I have same 2000 montecarlo ls very clean an still runs quiet engine works great nothing wrong with it I’ve took very good care of it sense I got it in 2011 an it’s same color as this very sporty looking tho lol I come here to fix all my stuff on my stuff on my own for free

I thought you tighten the control arm bushing nut with the weight of the vehicle on the ground? That way the control arm bushing is properly tensioned.
+Mr. Charley The part shown in the video does fit your application. It should be the same or a similar procedure. Here is a link to them on our website. Hope this helps you out. www.1aauto.com/control-arm-with-ball-joint/i/1aslf00064?TH-cam&CTA+Comment&PPFGKEMKPQ

Does the suspension have to be under load before tighten up the bolts
Yes

Trying to see how to sub frames bushing for my car

Yeah. That step is very important. th-cam.com/video/-QczV_6v42A/w-d-xo.html
Yeah but they got the LCA jacked up. Puts the LCA in close enough position as the car being on the ground.
Aligment neededt after replacement....?
Torque specs??
Great video thanks! :)
Is that the same as an 06 impala?

Thanks for the help i just made a easy $200.00
You keep referring to a "ball joint" but you mean the front bushing right?
Must be a T-52 1/2 because the T-50 is loose on my 05 rendezvous 😣
Why is it 2000-2007 monte carlos? I have a 99 and am wondering if it'd be the same

The mythical T57. I think GM uses a T47 but I couldn't find any T57.
Wrong to hammer the knuckle on W-Body cars ! Its aluminum not cast iron so its easily damaged.

You should not beat on the knuckle ! As you can see it didnt work and most of the time only causes damage.
