Sadly, none of my four years of studying literature at university were even remotely dark-academia-ish, although I did get weirdly into Marxist/feminist/British magick realism from the 1960s so that's kind of its own special aesthetic I guess. I don't know if this is because I went to a boring university in a boring state and not freaking Yale, or if dark academia is, dare I say it, an idealization of romanticism that revolves around hero-worshiping a bunch of almost certainly racist old white men. Who can say?

The Raven Cycle books give dark academia vibes, it's not a new england boarding school, but it's a bunch of southern rich boys and their friend looking for a supernatural/fantastical thing. Think Dead Poets but replace literature with ghosts
