Kraken Comes to Bodrum : Part 1 - A Visit from the Mayor

We welcomed Ahmet Aras, the Mayor of Bodrum and Damla Bildi, the Bodrum foreign affairs coordinator to Kraken Yachts to tour the new facility. Kraken Chairman, Dick Beaumont sat down with them to explain why Kraken came to Bodrum and why it is such an important location for cruising sailors.
We will be releasing part 2 soon, when Dick welcomed them onboard 'White Dragon' for an afternoons sailing and we were shown Bodrum's boatbuilding history, heritage, castle and ancient artefacts.

So glad to see someone building real blue water boats these days. It's been depressing seeing many of the other builders take the Ikea route to building boats.

Not sure why. Cape Town was however a highlight of his sail with White Dragon from Hong Kong to Turkey. He stayed a few months there ^^

Only thing you forgot to mention about choosing Bodrum is way cheaper labor/ craftsmanship which is the most important part.

Why don’t Kraken yachts have foam built into the hull like Etap yachts have? It would make them virtually unsinkable (apart from fire of course).
And before someone dismisses it because it takes up too much space: Just make the boat slightly larger to compensate!

We do use structural foam core on the hull :) this is included during the dry layup of fibres before infusion.
