Orca Got Stuck and Cried for Hours. When Rescuers Arrived, Something Incredible Happens

  • The last place you would expect to see an Orca is on dry land but that is where a young female Orca found herself stranded one morning in July 2015, along the shore of British Columbia. Orcas, also called Killer Whales, are the largest members of the dolphin family and these distinctive, black and white mammals hunt in pods in these seas. This naïve Orca obviously made a miscalculation and when the tide went out, she became trapped on sharp rocks - in pain and distress - unable to swim away. When Rescuers Arrived, Something incredible Happened.

By the end, this orca knew exactly what these humans were trying to do for her and whales are so incredibly smart, especially orcas, that she will never forget what the humans did for her, and if she were to ever encounter a human in the wild, such as a diver, she would probably stick around to make sure that they were OK to return the favor. I am so happy. She was reunited with her pod. Her pod was probably so excited to hear her calling for them because for sure they were racing back to her.

@@SAMMYJR00777 From my perspective an Orca has more intelligence and complex emotions than a Seal, thus I can relate more to an Orca than a Seal. The Orca's family would mourn her death like we humans do. The Seal's family would not mourn that way. However, I understand that it's stupid of me to draw a line somewhere, like "it's fine to kill and eat a chicken, but it's not fine to kill and eat an Orca because it's more intelligent". However, I do draw that line.

This reminds me of a few ppl reaching a baby elephant that was stuck in mud and couldn’t climb out, the mother was watching them and clearly distressed but realized they were trying to help and she let them. Once they got the baby out the mom turned and waved to them multiple times as if she was saying thank you. These creatures are so smart and have a large capacity for understanding. I’m glad they were able to help this young whale. Nature does a good job managing itself but sometimes you have to do a good deed.

Yes absolutely! even though I don’t like to imply some animals’ life worth more than others, saving highly intelligent animals such as elephant, gorillas, & of course orcas, are definitely the most worthy of all the animal rescues cause these listed animals have “generational cultures” AKA they’re able to pass down their knowledge from parents to kids (especially orcas are most well-testified for this)
When this 9 year old orcas grow up and become a mama herself, she’s gonna tell her kids save humans next time whenever the chances come,... maybe like when we’re bullied by big Mr. jaws 😂😂 (But pray our dear orcas wouldn’t find out humans are the culprit for the deterioration of their ocean home environment 😭😭)

They need to be written against VIOLENCE in general. Still leaves freedom of thought and speech. But once those 2 things actually produce ACTIONS, it should be criminal.

Great post and absolutely. Thank God these guys were in the right place at the right time. I think animals know when humans are trying to help them and I am seeing many videos of animals actually coming to get humans to help them or one of their family members, which is truly amazing. Because that means they recognize that we cannot only help them, but show empathy to the situation. The crazy thing is, when you see large predators doing this… Who would normally be on the offensive and defensive when it came to humans. But, recognize the situation and realize there’s nothing they can do on their own, Seeking the help of those that may be able to do so.

That Orca’s number was definitely not up.
For Eric to be passing and for him to be who he was and have the access to the people he did, was surely pure luck on the Orca’s part. Congratulations to all those who helped, job well done. 👍😊

It's wonderful to see people come together and go above and beyond to help this young orca. Such a beautiful thing. Thank you for your actions. She would surely have died from exposure had these beautiful people had not kept her hydrated. I just hope this doesn't happen to any other animal getting stuck in that place. If it does happen again, we know that there are people there who will come to the rescue.
