Hi, many thanks for your videos. I'm working with an 88 yr old recovering from a stroke. Exercise is truly helping in brain recovery. Recovery is more like a marathon, it's taking time. But, we are getting there. I understand your not a fan of a recumbent elliptical, but, I'm introducing this into our routine. I really believe Mom can ditch the wheelchair in the coming months. We are being discharged soon from outpatient PT. I'm grateful that your videos are available so we can continue on this wellness journey. Thank you!!

Thank you. I needed to see this. I’ve been getting pain in my unaffected knee after walking. I’m taking a couple of days off with some ice then I’ll look at your gait exercises again.

The few PT sessions I had, having me walk was just for evaluation. Most every bit of my rehab takes place at or around home. Shoveling the 16 inches of snow off the driveway was good for me. The important thing was to do it in twenty minute shifts over two days and that made my muscles a little sore and tired, the good kind of feeling. I have stated before that your videos helped me so much before I could get physical therapy as well as after. Thank you.

I've been struggling with spacticity and contractures due to spina bifida (I walk with crouch gait) my whole life and i feel like i found gold mine in this channel. Thank you for all you videos i've watching a great deal of them, espicially those about foot drop since I've been dealing with it after a surgery to remove knee contracture. can you please talk about flexion spasticity and contractures in the hip, knees and ankles? I know that they might not be as common as extenstion spasticity in those areas but I feel like some people (including me) will benfit from them, also a video on externally oriented foot would be very appreciated.
Thank you very much for all your videos.

☀️🧡☀️ Yes yes yes Dr. Tara, that is it. Moving everyday, doesn't matter where when and if in PJ in the morning, in front of TV or outside. I still do not dare to walk free outside but in the last 3.5 years there was so much progress thanks to your videos and constant walking and the small exercises all over the day. It is the daily effort that counts. There are good and bad days. But no day without leg lifts, arm lifts and all your exercises to keep the body system on good level. Good days are with walking exercises, stretches, lunges, backward walking, your balance exercises and constant "dancing" to music.
There are no differences from day to day, but the improvements from year to year are massive. And bad days are less and less and I look forward to my first beach walk this summer 😀😀🏝🏝 so lots of thanks and greetings from Hamburg 🧡🧡☀️☀️

Hello Dr. Tobias - Thanks for your most helpful videos. I'm 48 months out. What do you think of recumbent road trikes? You mentioned you were not a fan of recumbents. I was a long distance biker before my stroke and am trying to get back. On a recumbent trike, the pedal stroke is like on a normal bike and not a push stroke like the stationary bike in your video.

These are mostly fitness exercises. Does stretching count at that time as well? Every day I do about 20 minutes of various stretching, after a break walking. Have a nice week

Hi Darko! This is an excellent question! Stretching is great and is super important to a well rounded fitness routine post stroke. But there needs to be specific activities to maintain health. I talk about that in this video. I hope that helps!

I can't walk long distances by increasing spastic stiffness but I'm not after stroke. Tetraparesis. I train walking three times a week 20-30 minutes. The rest days two times gym workout 1h and pilates plus stretching 1 h. I think this isn't enough but I have a job and I'm overloaded.

PLEASE address this issue: I dont feel a "burn" basically ever when I do exercises for my affected side - like the croutch walking for instance or anything that you would normally feel a burn on that side..or other isolated exercises for the glutes or quads. I know I'm doing them correctly as per my physiotherapist. She even sees my glutes activating. I can't find this issue addressed anywhere online! What's wrong with me? Is this a sensory issue (I have decent sensation on my legs) or are my muscles not functioning properly? I always feel something on my other side, even if it's not moving, but as a stabilizer! It makes me feel like im accomplishing nothing. I can end up looking tired on that side (after exercise quality of my walk is looking tired for instance)...but i don't FEEL tired, if that makes sense. Please discuss this!! I can't find any answers!! This is 1 year post stroke.

i get it outside due to poor balance “brain says no” panic then i have to take a big breath in and tell myself you can do this if you fall so what you always have your mobile in your pocket you have to readjust like you did when you first started walking post stroke and your foot sticks to the floor step by step tell your brain you can and you will

I had a stroke in Dec 2022. It was a Hemorrhagic stroke. My leg healed while I was in the hospital, so I am walking. but my left arm is still flassik with a subluxed shoulder. I am in rehab, but I am really hurting in my shoulder and my arm won't bend at the elbow. My OT has me on the muscle stimulation hand bike. Is that why my muscles are aching?

I always appreciate your product recommendations, including ones you don’t recommend. But, one benefit I’ve noticed in using a recumbent bike is that it has helped with walking downhill (for whatever reason).
I would much rather walk uphill, so when I noticed this about a month after using the bike regularly, it was quite noticeable, walking around the neighborhood with a lot of uneven terrain. 😅
Thanks again for this video series!
