Have you covered Emerald Valley turquoise? I can't find much about it which surprised me with it being so close to the Royston region.
I am catching up on all your previous videos. Can't get enough of them. I'm going to have to check out your books soon!

I don’t know that one. Glad you are enjoying the videos. The books are a good complement.

@turquoiseinamerica3164 I think I heard that it's newer and maybe I'm misunderstanding something about it. I also heard sometimes Royston greens and other surrounding greens get labeled as Emerald Valley. Now I'm wondering if it's an actual claim or just a label people came up with.

@@SixStringSlinger1 I have looked a bit and found a range of conflicting identities from Royston to Mexico to Ma’anshan Chinese. Pretty safe to say it is a marketing name and is treated. Lots of turquoise from Mexico has been sold under marketing names that allude to a connection to famous U.S. mines like Morenci II and Bisbee II. Personally I stay away from these.

One of the benefits of interviewing so many Edgars was to have access to their turquoise collection.

    Another interesting and informative video.
The Apex Copper mine near St. George Utah had azurite - so maybe some turquoise was found also? How about the Bingham Copper Mine in Utah. Was Turquoise found there?

Utah is known for variscite. I don’t know of any turquoise.

Thank you for the information. In the 1970s I purchased from a former miner in St. George a small piece of Apex mine light blue azurite. It has a structure somethng like chatoyant Bisbee Malachite, but way too soft to make into jewelry. Also I have a small "rose" of little azurite crystals also from the Apex mine. The Apex copper/silver mine is on google maps just to the West of St. George. There is also an article with photos on the internet. No Turquoise in Utah? Maybe someday someone will stumble on to something. Thanks for the reply.

Super Ex is FANTASTIC. It has the look of a watercolor painting in the blue- splotchy and almost grey-blue in a masculine way. I adore it. If anyone knows someone selling Super Ex or Blue Wind, please don’t hesitate to comment. Peace

Mike, do you ID turquoise for ppl?
I have questions about some pieces in my collection. Thx!

I’d get on Instagram, find some respected sellers and start with one that you’d like ID’d. Then move to the second. Dylan Hartman, the Ottesons and Mark B Turquoise (on Instagram) and others are happy to help.

I know more than most about the history of turquoise. The ability to identify turquoise requires seeing lots of turquoise over decades. Those who profess the ability are suspect. Those with humility are more trustworthy.

I know more than most about the history of turquoise. In order to make any attempt at turquoise ID you must have seen much turquoise over decades. Others are far more qualified than I to attempt the identification of turquoise. Those that profess the ability are the most suspect. Those with the most humility are those whose judgement I would most trust. No, turquoise identification is not within my circumference of competence although I will often give my opinion as will many.
